At what age can/have you taken your baby into the shower with you?
Dd already puts her head in the water and likes it and doesn't mind water on her face.

DS never liked the shower but a friend has taken her children into the shower from really young, her DS as a newborn.
We took our Dss in pretty much from birth. DS2 particularly loves it now.
from birth.
For some reason, it never crossed my mind to take DS in the shower until one day, when DS was about 4 months old, a girl from Mothers' Group was talking about her DS having showers. She said they had showered with him pretty much from birth. That night I went home and put DS in the shower with DP and we've never looked back.
From birth with all 3 DD's
My kids all from birth
DD as a newborn did a very nasty #3 it just got EVERYWHERE! so was easier to just climb in the shower with her and wash her down, well DP did it and she loved it so he did it quite a lot. I tried when she was a few months old and she screamed the whole time.
From birth here too. A word of warning though- be prepared to never, ever have a shower by yourself again. I swear my older girls have some sort of in built radar that tells them the SECOND I turn the shower tap on, and then they're there in a flash asking to come in with me!
Birth :)
LuluHB - That's what is starting to happen in our house now too. DS started crying this morning because he heard the shower turn on but no-one made a move to take his clothes off.
ive been keen to try for so long, normally she gets in the bath with me, but im nervous, might just jump in and try tho
From birth with mine. They loved it. My back wasnt great with the bath, so we gave it a go and it was divine seeing our tiny bubbas fall asleep on our shoulders and licking up drops of water hehe. Gave up on the bath and never looked back.
The poor little guy ;-) Don't worry. He'll get his revenge when he can get in there and get his own clothes off!
When we did renos we put in a double shower. Barely manageable for an adult and two girls, especially in winter when you want more of the water, so I've told DH we're simply going to have to do more renos and have a triple or quad shower. And maybe its own dedicated water tank and hot water system too . . .
DD1 hated the shower so i only ever did it twice with her (once when she was 2 weeks and another at 12 weeks!) - DD2 on the on the other hand was a screamy/colicky/refluxy baby and LOVED the shower - i started with them when she was 2 weeks old and pretty much lived in there as it was the only place where she didn't cry endlessly :)
I don't have my own yet... But I was 18 when my littlest brother was born and I absolutely used to LOVE it when mum brought him into the shower as a newborn and asked me tto wash him while I was there. It was a beautiful feeling.
It is easier to have someone to hand bub to you and take him/her off you before you get out though..... Bit of a juggle trying to do that by yourself!!
Totally agree myturn, its a two person job! They feel so slippery at first too so good to have an extra pair of hands as back-up. But it just feels so good :) A tip my nanna told me if I was worried about bubs slipping was to use a cloth nappy for gripping their bum and back. Never tried it but a good idea if youre a bit nervous.
Birth here too. I used to give them both to DH when newborn. They loved it and its so much easier.
From 2 days old, we were in the hospital hotel outreach program and midwife told dh to hop in shower with dd and get some daddy / daughter bonding time :)
I can't remember with ds but I took dd in with me last week at 3.5months. She loved it and so did ds (he alternates between the bath and the shower) however old he was.
I agree that it's much easier with 2 people there though.

we've done it since birth, and my 2yo still showers with me every couple of days.
and it's a lot easier on your tummy, than getting in and out of the bath or lugging water post c/s.
it's lovely :)
Yep from birth here too :)
DS was about 2 months when she decided she didn't like her bath so we took her in the shower and she loved it! She's 3.5 months now and I think it's time for DH to get over his fear of her gripping onto his chest hair and he can shower with her too... might use the cloth nappy suggestion only between him and her :)
At around 2 weeks old DH has taken her on occasion. The child health nurse recommended that DH do the coshower for the first 3 months as he doesn't smell like milk so she won't wiggle around trying to feed and he doesn't have boobs getting in the way. DD loves being in the shower and in her bath. I'm hoping that the shower will get her used to water on her face before we take her swimming.
I'm not sure of the exact age, but the Man took DD into the shower when she was *very* little (I was always too afraid I might drop her). She enjoyed it.
When DD was able to be placed on your hip, no craddled - ITMS?
DH showered with her the first night we got home, she was 3days old, and then pretty much every wash until she was 3months old when I started to bath her earlier in the afternoon. I think it's just such a lovely bonding experience.
DH has been showering with DD pretty much since birth. It's been fantastic for him to have that time with her, especially as we've successfully reduced her formula top ups and increased BF'ing. She loves it and has never screamed in there unlike the bath
Yep we put DD in the shower with Daddy from when we got home from hospital. She loves it. I have only had her in with me once because I like my shower time to myself (and I figure that I'll have to share eventually) and it is my one "me" time of the day. DH loves it too.
We still bath DD too though because she absolutely loves laying back in the bath splashing around. I have to heat the room though or it is too cold in this house.
We put her head under the water in the shower and everything. Just through the water rather than standing under it :) And when she is in the bath she gets annoyed if you hold her head to far out of the water. I swear she'd like to be submerged except for her nostrils LOL.
