P.I.G. Question

Hi ladies

I was wondering how you assign who your P.I.G. is? I'd like to have one, but I have no idea how I would go about asking someone, as I don't feel that I know anyone well enough...

I went with people who I felt supported me the very most through my pregnancies :)

With DS I went with someone I knew IRL.. With the twins, I didn't know anyone on here so I just gave my Mum my log in details and she posted for me..

I had a friend who I'd met through bb do it for me :)

Is there anyone you feel has been particularly supportive or helpful to you?

If you're not close to anyone in particular, I'd be happy to :)

First time around I had to do it myself because no-one in my Buddies group took up my offer. Turned out for the best though, because I would have wanted to be the one to break the news that he died anyway.

With DD I went with someone I trusted and felt close to on here. It helped that she was my doula too, so she was able to post without my needing to call or SMS her :)

I went with someone from my belly buddies group that I felt I'd connected with and had supported me. I originally thought I should ask someone outside the group as we'd likely all be in hospital at the same time :lol: But I didn't really feel close to anyone else.

One of the ladies that I have become close to in my belly buddies group will be announcing for me (if he ever arrives)

I have her on my Facebook and also her mobile number so she will know when things happen :)

Mine was a gal I really clicked with. We were TTC buddies. Although it took me a lot longer to fall pregnant, she always checked in on me and was so supportive. We still chat. I love my P.I.G!

Mine was just someone who I thought would like to do it. And she made me an awesome new avvy as part of the package. Wins all round.

This time I decided to pick someone in the same time zone though :lol:

ROFL Audax, my time zone served me well for your midnight birth ;)

Just ask whoever you have a girlcrush on, I doubt anyone would turn you down!

I chose one of the most awesome ladies I know and who supported me through the whole preg :)

I asked people who are important to me and who I trust with all the gory details. My first PIG rocked and I have every faith in the second.

I'm having way more trouble with a snappy PIG announcement signature than the actual decision!

DS1 - I did it myself.
DS2 - I SMSed all the mods and whoever was fastest did it. I think it was Rouge.

DS1 was a friend in BB who rang me after getting SMS and asked if I wanted her to announce for me.
DS2 was a good friend on BB who I saw frequently IRL as well.

Hmmm I need a PIG. Maybe I will make people apply LOL

With Liebs, I asked Butterfly Warrior and was thrilled when she said yes. She introduced me to BB, supported me through my pre-TTC and pregnancy journey and is a gorgeous person.

For Stormy, much as I'd like a PIG, I'm going to be at home and posting for as long as possible, so I may well be able to do my own. Otherwise, I have some of you lovely ladies on my mobile and will say if they get a text they can post on BB!

DD1 was one of my lovely belly buddy ladies. DD2 I think I did myself - we were home very quickly. DD3 I sent a txt to two of the gorgeous women who I've shared the pregnancy and parenting journey with for over 5 years now and one of them posted for me.

I have to ask this really stupid question (I'm blaming this one on sleep deprivation), but what does P.I.G. actually stand for???

Really!!!! I always thought it would be a huge honour. Maybe Im a bit weird :dunno:

I can't quite remember, but it could've been because I wasn't that active in there? That, or by the time I offered everyone was taken :lol:

DD1 - my sister signed up just to do my BA
DS - a friend I introduced to BB from DD1's mothers group did it
DD2 - I did my own.

I've never done one....If anyone's looking ;)

Hmmm this is making me think is should pick one too!

DD1 - one of my belly buddies.

DD2 - my doula Christy who used to be a rusty old mod here too beat me to it, but only just! ;) I was so excited and proud of myself I sent out my own SMSs and FB update.

We shared it around our belly buddies group but I ended up getting a friend to do mine as my nominated p.i.g was in labour and couldn't do it :lol: so that's the downside of doing it in the belly buddies group.

For DD, it was in my Belly Buddies group. DS, we did the same thing but because we were all in labour around the same time with my group for DD (same group as Nai), I also asked one of my friends from my first belly buddy group (Nai actually!).

This time around I've asked someone who I've grown close to, who isn't pregnant, so I know she'll be able to do it! I did hers in March so I'm returning the honour :) Because yes, I do feel like it is a huge honour. I always try and make it really special when I do one.

With DD I'm not sure if I even did a birth announcement!

This time round - I think I would like a PIG... I do wonder though if it's someone in my belly buddies, and I had bubs first, will I be reliable enough to then post their BA in my newborn-induced haze ha ha!!

For DD1 we shared it around our belly buddies group. We tried to pair up based on due dates and it worked pretty well except for me. I went early and my PIG went late so I was still in hospital when her bub was born. Thankfully she had internet access in hospital (i didn't) so was able to do her own.

For DD2 I asked the person from DD1's belly buddies who I felt closest too.
