ooo im first!!
so apparently you arent meant to store your wraps braided, thats the only way ive seen them stored! esp. linen cause it can weaken it.

i went to a sling meet the other week and went to try someones 4 oshca and as i pulled it under Spocks bum it ripped!!

so just a friendly reminder to check your wraps before you use them =)

I tried a SB and wasnt to happy with it sadly. I felt like it was too thin and dug into her legs.

How do people in here like Diva's? Im looking at a couple as their designs are so pretty!

Are any of you mommas on the FB babywearing group "Babywearing love & Support? Ive noticed a couple moms in there from Australia and always wondered if it was you guys!

im not sure the exact type. but will find out. it was old. im just thankful Spock was still on the ground when it did it and not when i was santa sacking her.
what made it worse was i was trying it from a girl who had borrowed it from another friend!

I have a Diva Milano, MrsS. I love it. It's my favourite size 6 for multi layer carries. It feels quite thin for its supportiveness. Mostly I got it because it's pretty. ;)

wow, so it didn't even have weight on it. It can't have been old, oschas haven't been around very long. Glad there were no injuries!

I love my DM. Mine is chopped down to a size 3, and is 100% cotton - it is so light and thin and airy. I am getting a HB WCMT made out of another which will hopefully arrive before christmas. They are truely Beautiful wraps and surprisingly cushy despite their thinness. I can RTUB my 18kg 3yr old in it, although I wouldn't recommend it for too long. ;)

TT40 - it was a Didymos Indio jade linen that tore. And it was very lucky no one was carrying a baby at the time. :(
It is a very good reminder for everyone to regularly check their wraps and carriers for faults or wear. Fabric is not designed to last forever, and especially when buying secondhand (and with so many wraps being churned through so many owners), knowing as much of this history of the wrap / carrier as possible is important.

Ah! So perhaps it was quite old, then.

I want to get more into Baby Wearing but have no idea what's what, apart from the basics. There are a zillion wraps and carriers out there. How would I know what to use? I currently have a Beco Butterfly 2, which I love and use all the time (but only front carry cause I need more back carry practice) and a Sleepywrap which I'll retire until I have another bub, since mine is 8.5 mo and 9kg now.

Your best bet is to try an get along to a local slingmeet and have a play with all the different carriers there to find one you like. If you liked the sleepy wrap, then a woven wrap might be a good progression - they are much more supportive, and soooo versatile. You are only limited by your imagination as to the number of different carries you can do with a woven. Otherwise, my favourites are definitely wrap conversion Mei Tai's.

Yep, come to a meet and try a few things. Hopefully something will click and you'll be off! It's also a good opportunity to practice back carries, too.

Wow, new wrap has super sleepy powers. Lately Amelia's been dropping her afternoon sleep every few days (nooooooo...!) and only goes down on the other days if she's fed to sleep. I thought today was a no-nap day, so I popped her in and she was asleep within a minute! She hadn't even looked tired at all before that :o

Sadly I don't think I'll be keeping this one for long. It's a 3, and it's just that tiny bit too short for any substantial carries. I made this one up :lol:

I reckon you should. If you don't like it you can always see if you can get a trade or a straight sell. From the looks of it, it's going to be pretty popular. I've already got someone on a US board wanting dibs on mine :lol:

Anyone see the new kokadi Ela?

Ela in wunderland is gorgeous! I ususally prefer red wraps; but that one is gorgeous. And it looks great wrapped too. It is honestly probably the only Kokadi that I actually like, I'm not normally a fan of their wraps.

I wear DS in the sleepy wrap nearly every day, but have been dying to do a back-carry. Centerlink didn't pay me enough throughout the year so dumped a lovely amount of money in my account this morning, so I just went and bought myself a lovely green Girasol. (after being told by DH last week that I wasn't allowed to spend that much money on a new wrap when I already have a wrap and a sling)

Can't wait til it's here!!

Also, I saw a youtube vid of being able to scoot DS from hip carry to back carry in the RS. I tried this, he loved it of course, but the top rail was a bit gapey so he kept slipping to the side.

I've got a MiniMonkey sling that was given to me, but I'm not sure I'm using it right.. DS doesn't look comfy. Any tips?

Are you able to pop a photo up? Those kind of slings are more difficult to adjust (I sold mine for $5 on eBay in a fit of frustration :lol:) so if we can see where the problem is someone might be able to help :)

i was at a wedding recently where there were quite a few older hippies. i just had my ergo and when ds was getting tired i put the ergo on with him on my front. one of the women came up and told me she was so pleased to see that i had him facing in to me, and she gets so sad when she sees 'all these young women these days' with baby facing out and not snuggled into mum they way they should be. it was so nice to get the comment and we had a little chat.

Yeah I love Ela! I usually dont like wraps with character type prints but the colors are sooo pretty together.

I currently have a custom Diva opitai in the post, so fingers crossed it arrives before Christmas.

Well as much as I wished it was ObiMama..Its impossible to get a slot so its coming from TMD (two mommas designs) and my custom slot is the first week of dec.

Lol. I've been stalking for a obimama spot all year - but she barely does customs at all anymore, and there are a gazzillion people stalking for the same spot when they do come up! I would love her to convert my oscha nouveau embers for me. I <3 my obi that I have though, it's very me.
TMD look pretty decent. I haven't had the opportunity to see one IRL yet though. They were on my short list when I was looking for custom spots a while ago, but I already have an opitai which I love and jumped at the opportunity when Fay said she had a custom spot available for me.

Do it in front of a mirror, Charlotte. It will give him something to look at and help you see how it's going.

Oh no. Mirrors or toys may help, yeah! Sometimes it just takes a while to feel comfortable with it. You can try practicing with a toy first, so you are quicker and more confident with the moves, which might help him to relax, too.
Do you hold the top rail tight in your teeth/under you chin while you get the seat sorted? That sort of pins them down a bit. It is very tricky if they don't want to be there! Hopefully you can catch him at a good moment and get it working for you

Tuck the wrap between his legs and u into the top of his pants before you chuck him up on your back, so it is already tucked under and you just have to concerntrate on getting the top rails secure. ;)

Eeeeeeeeeeee!!! They've released a photo of the indigo/turquoise Milky Way! It's beautiful :leap: I can't wait to receive mine :D
