DF and i have been together for 7 years, and have never really bought lots of xmas presents for each other, we just buy each other stuff through the year.
well this year we decided we're setting a budget of $750 each for presents.
oh my god. i can't wait!!! :lol:

We've set a 100 $ limit, but not sure if we'll make that. We still havent bought for each other or DS and we onlynhave 1 pay left :S

I'm getting a HR monitor watch thing. I think it's about $90 (DH gets it wholesale).
Some years we spend more, some we skip prezzies.
It just depends on what we want / need / how much we have available.

Nothing this year, we are going on a beach holiday in Jan instead. Might get something tokenistic; his favourite chocolate or similar.

fluctuates depending on what he wants each year to be honest - this year it's been a couple of hundred cos we had spare cash at christmas so i got him some bundy collectible rums that he desperately wanted. if we'd have had the spare cash mid year i'd have gotten them then. so it's not REALLY for christmas - but because of the timing, and DD being very in to presents this year, they are wrapped and under the tree. we never have a specific budget as it's whatever is wanted/needed at the time...
I normally do something crafty for under $10. He hates having money spent on him. However the kids have been bugging us for a remote control car which we know they will fight over so we have bought it for DH (from Santa) so this year his limit is almost $600. In expect he will spend a few dollars on some fancy t-bags for me :)
wow $750 sounds like a lot. my DH is horrid to buy for. I'm thinking I just get him a few shirts and maybe a voucher for a new wet suit
Wow! $750 is huge! We will prob spend $100-150ish on each other, depending on what we decide we want. We generally buy what we want for ourselves (within reason) during the year when we want it. As a result neither of us have any great Christmas ideas anyway....

100-250 and sometimes nothing if we buy a joint present we need. This year I need a new bike so DHcwill spend a bit more and DH wants snorkelling gear so will spend whatever we need to get those.

I usually spend about $100 on his Christmas present, but because his birthday is in November some years I spend a bit more and get a combined present if there's something more expensive he wants. (this year he is getting a Lego R2D2 that is 2 foot tall)
I don't know what he spends on me. Some years he hasn't bought anything because he 'forgot' (his excuse)

Forgetting birthdays and anniversaries I get but Christmas?! :lol: Even in a remote village in Laos I couldn't escape Christmas.
I wasn't getting him much, but a few weeks ago I had an unexpected pocket of money come from c-link so I got him a coffee maker. He asked for it as a birthday present next year (in July) and I thought it would be nice to surprise him :D He actually almost put a similar one on layby the other day, I almost fainted :rofl:

We had very strong words about what is really important in life that year.
$50-$100 here. Don't really need to do presents for each other, but we want the kids to see that Christmas is not just about them getting stuff.
I spent about $120 this year. DH always goes over the top and spends between $200-$300 on me.
Hahaha this year DH is getting two babies :D
We are saving for our holiday in July next year so we will probably just put into that account.

Us? Nothing. Or, something. I dunno, we don't set monetary limits (although limit sounds restrictive and your budget isn't anything near restrictive lol). We sometimes get thoughtful gifts, things we might want or need. Sometimes that's $20 sometimes it's $100. I've found I don't really get excited for receiving Xmas presents these days, I get excited for DD and other kids though. We bought a new blender and food processor the other day, that was kind of our combined pressie this year...and I did get excited for that lol. We're also getting another baby so I think we're set!
Not much. He stole my thunder by buying himself a coffee pod machine in October. That was what I was planning to get him. So instead he'll get something lame like some pjs and a book. Serves him right :lol:
It differs every year, for a few years we gave each other nothing but I didn't like it :lol: Yes we buy things through the year for ourselves but I think a little spoiling is nice. This year I have spent about $100.
i guess the $750 makes up over 7 years :rofl:. we had planned a 2 week holiday to melbourne, but we cancelled because DF's anxiety couldn't handle a new city etc. so we had money in the bank from that.
we both went shopping today (went our separate ways) he came back with a box of chocolates, he said it was just too hard, and no possibly way he could spend $750 when he can't even find 1 thing. i however already spent $150 on him. so we've decided we will do lots of online shopping together. should be fun.
i can't wait to have kiddies. oh xmas would be so much fun :p
Before I had kids and we were well off we never really put a price tag on things. I hate putting a monetary value unless its for Kris Kringle. I feel like it cheapens the sentiment.
Now that we have kids we spend it on them. :)

I'm going to stick my neck out here and say I don't get it.
If your DF can't find anything worth $750 why does he have to spend that much? I don't understand shopping just for the sake of shopping. Why not just find each other the perfect gift and save the change for a rainy day/house deposit/staying home when baby arrives fund?
I think it's the thought that counts not the sum spent.
I agree. Often my DH will ask me for a list of things I want. He doesn't have to buy anything off the list, but it gives him an idea of what I like or need.:
I have no idea what to buy DH....he brought some slippers the other day, might wrap them up for him.
My DH will probably get some cash ($150) towards his new bike he has a stash of cash from his birthday as well and I don't think I will get anything to flash :) although I just bought a lovely nappy bag so won't feel ripped off!
I could be cheeky and say about $5k (all the fees associated with growing a baby including the new maternity clothes and furniture)...but he says the baby isn't a present just for him....
So I spent about $250 on nespresso stuff and some shirts.
I'm giving my DH the rest of the money he needs towards his next planned tattoo. I don't think it'll be over $200, more likely $100.
:lol: my DF is a HORRIBLE saver. he's a shoppaholic.... he has his mind set that we have that much for xmas pressies so he won't save it etc:
2 years ago my DH bought me a house.
Nothing has come close since then :lol:
ETA: I worded it that way on purpose... of course it is "our" house and we are both on the mortgage but at the time I was probably on maternity leave and let's be honest its got more impact when I say he bought me a house!
We normally spend about $1000 on each other at Xmas but this year I think it will be more like $200 each. We have just bought another house and bub might be here before Xmas at this rate so there isn't really anything I want.
We aren't big spenders for Christmas and DH's birthday is the next week anyway. We probably spend about $50 on each other on average. This year I'm getting something really special and so it is a lot more for my present but DH is still only getting a nice book from me.
I really don't think that it is how much you spend.
