Bleeding since ovulation but pregnant??!!

So, I have been breastfeeding my DD for almost 20 months and didnt have AF at all until 3.5 weeks ago. I was so excited to finally get it so we could start trying to fall pregnant.. it felt like I had been waiting forever for my cycle to return!! It was a fairly light af which only really lasted 3 days.

I really didnt expect that my body would know to ovulate 2 weeks later since so many women have had irregular cycles when still breastfeeding, plus my body was pretty messed up just before I conceived DD so I didnt have much faith in it! Anyway, I thought I would take a chance and fly over to where my husband was working for a week during my possible ovulation time (hes gone for 6 weeks so it was great to see him anyway.. he was missing DD heaps!)

On CD 15 I noticed some EWCM, I was so excited but still didnt really believe that I would ovulate (I had also bought FR OPKs and hadnt had a positive reading) But we DTD heaps just incase.

The next day I noticed some brown mucky stuff in some discharge, I thought 'great my body really doesnt know what its doing' From then on each day it got worse until it was bright red bleeding and pretty much like a normal af but without the cramping or clots. So for the last week and a half I have been bleeding and am still now.

I got home from being away yesterday and thought what the hell I have 2 pregnancy tests just sitting here why not pee on them for the sake of it, really really not expecting anything!! Anyway a line came up really really quickly, before the Control line even came up and way stronger then the C line. I freaked out!! So exciting but SO SCARY!!

Which brings me to now... What is going on with my body??!!!!

I went to the Dr this morning, and got some blood tests done to check HCG levels etc and I asked if she could test progesterone and oestrogen levels but she said theres not much point because theres nothing that can be done if one of them is low which is causing me to bleed. Is this right?!! I am so scared that its happening cos my hormones are out of whack from the breastfeeding and that it can be fixed with capsules or pessaries etc. Should I take Maca capsules or something natural to possibly try and help?!!

The only other things I can think of is that I have thrush which is causing the bleeding, just a couple days ago i noticed a bit of an itch down there, but surely I wouldnt bleed for almost a week and a half with no other real symptoms?! or it could be my cervix bleeding. When I got my last papsmear it showed that I had a lowgrade lesion and that I had to have regular papsmears and hope that it goes away on its own. Could it be bleeding from this??!! Could I have the start of cervical cancer or something!?!

I am thinking it is my hormones out of whack though, just because of how it started off, brown etc. How does a baby stick to anything though if my uterus is shedding still??!! But if the baby wasnt a strong one would the line on my pregnancy test be so strong for only 3.5 weeks pregnant?! Could I just keep bleeding until I bleed the baby away?! Could it be a chemical pregnancy???

I really wasnt expecting to fall pregnant so soon after getting af but I really really dont want to lose this baby. :(

The Dr basically said its all out of my hands, whatever is going to happen will happen, we cant do anything to stop it. But I really want too! I want to go for a scan right now to check things out.. Im not even sure they would be able to see anything though?!! I know shes right, I just have to relax and be grateful we fell pregnant so quickly. Its so hard though :(

I get results tomorrow morning so please keep your fingers crossed for me that my hcg levels are ok and go up in a couple of days! I just want this bleeding to stop!!! Its making me so sad everytime I go to the toilet and the water turns red :( Who oh why did I have to test yesterday!! I would be none the wiser today and find out that Im pregnant in a months time when everything has settled down (hopefully!)

Thanks for reading, Im not entirely sure why I have written this, maybe someone has been through something similar though? It has also killed a bit of my night, tomorrow morning when I can call up for my results is only 11 hours away now! :) xx

Is there any chance your further along then you think? Like your AF wasn't really a period? Maybe your not 3.5weeks after all and are much further along. I'll certainly be keeping everything crossed for you that bub is nice and sticky and for good results tomorrow xxx

Mildez, I kinda thought maybe that could be possible?! But it really felt like af, I had the full cramps etc for 2 days. Im pretty sure I did a pregnancy test about a week before af which came up negative. I dont know, im confused! I guess I will find out tomoro morning. Do you know if it is possible to get a really strong hpt at 9dpo?? This line is super dark and its on a FR so shld be pretty accurate...

Im just looking up Dr Google, could it be a molar pregnancy?!! They have high hcg levels but is just a blob of nothing, not actually a baby?! I hope not :/ maybe ectopic?! Gosh no more google for me i think.

Reet first thing first stay away from Dr Google it will only make you stress because you focus more on the negative.
I'm sorry you are away from Dh having to deal with this (HUGGS) you and I both know the excitement of seeing two lines on a HPT sure enough turns to the worst fear imaginable x
You very well could be further along than you think, and bleeding is very common in early pregnancy, and there is no cramping which is a very good sign.
I know it's boring for me to encourage you to try and relax until you get your results tomorrow, I hope that everything turns out perfectly fine and your levels do the right thing over the next few days to ease your nerves.

I tested really early this pregnancy too and I also had really dark lines straight away - surprised me too!

Reet it would be extremely unlikely your pregnancy would be a molar pregnancy. Statistically there is a much higher chance then any of the outcomes bub is a sticky:) your levels today should give you a better indication of how far you are and if they are above 3000 a scan should show something. I'm thinking of you today and praying for you that all is perfect.

My first thought was that you are further along too. It is possible the cramping you felt was your body recognising the prenancy and your muscles if you know what I mean. I hope the results you get in a couple of hours are great. :hug:

If ur ovulation test was neg I wouldn't think u were pg then cause I got pos ovulation tests when pg that's how I found out first time , hopefully the blood test gives answers as for cancer Hcg is used as an indicator for men and women for some types of cancer

Noooo! I just called the Drs and they can't give out results without my Dr looking at it first and she doesn't start til 130pm :( I feel like I have woken up and had a billion red bulls, my heart is racing, I'm shakey, my tummy is gurgling... Now to get thru the next 4 hrs!! Relax reet, relax!!!

How is the bleeding today Reet?

Still bleeding, I have been using tampons because seeing all the blood was doing my head in, there is no clots or stringy bits or anything but still just bright red blood. I just keep hoping ill go to change my tampon and it will be white still!! Sorry everyone for the TMI!!

Maybe avoid tampons if you can - I don't think they're recommended when pregnant.

I have the results but they haven't helped me at all!!!! :( my hcg levels are at 450 so the nurse said that's around 5-6 weeks pregnant, I did have really sore ovaries for 2 weeks about 6 weeks ago but then got af so figured it must have been me ovulating. Now I'm thinking maybe what I thought was af was actually implantation, would it last 2 days with big cramping though?? That doesn't explain why I'm bleeding now though or why I never got a positive on the opks since they record hcg levels. I'm still thinking I'm only 3.5 weeks though, could it be a twins thing possibly?? Gah! I don't know, going to get more bloods tomoro so I guess I just gotta wait!!

Congrats on the good blood test results. Now lets just hope the bleeding stops!

Oh my, I say you just need to run with it and don't worry too much about what the OPK's didn't or did show up. They could have been a faulty batch or anything.

Try and keep positive (seriously difficult I know!) and just get to the next blood test tomorrow and see what happens.

I am so excited for you, I know how much you have wanted this - I really really hope it all goes to plan.

Reet - my HCG at 5wks+5 was 15,560, so I am surprised that your nurse thinks your that far along? My HCG at 4w+3 was 479.1 It may have been twins and you may be losing one. I have heard of that before. Still getting AF but still being pg. I think only a scan will tell you why your bleeding. Not too sure if you would be able to see bubs yet, but maybe the cause of bleeding since you are pg. Congratulations on being pg :)

It sounds a bit similar to when I lost DS's twin, the bleeding eased after a few days. But I spent those days lying down which you don't get to do with a toddler! Remember it is really common to bleed in early pregnancy, are you getting follow up bloods to see what the levels are doing? I *need* to know everything that's going on with my pregnancy/ies so I get why you really want the information. I only relax with a list of results/scans in my hand :)

I understand it's going to be a tough wait over the next few days, try and take it easy as much as you can, I know bed rest is impossible while you are on your own with a toddler in tow, just do as little as possible xxx

Try to rest and not to worry xox some bleeding is normal. There are women out there that have had bleeding the whole way through xoxox

Chody47- Im trying not to use tampons but it makes me want to cry when i see all the blood! :( I did ask the Dr yesterday if it was ok too and she said that it is, there is a risk of infection but it is very small. I havent had one in for the last couple hours but i cant deal with it, Ill leave it out for bed tonight but i will go back to wearing them tomoro i think, waaay better for my sanity!

Vic- well yeah now that I have looked up a hcg chart i dont think im that far along either according to my levels, maybe 4 something weeks at the most. The chart also says that from woman to woman the levels vary a lot so i guess the nurse was just giving me an estimate... the variance is huge on the charts for lowest to highest hcg levels for how many weeks u are... Thanks for letting me know ur numbers and for the congratulations! :)

Kit- Yep I definitely need hard evidence that everything is ok before i can stop stressing and relax! I really thought the next time i fell pregnant after DD things wld be different and it wldnt be such a stress.. why oh why do i have to be bleeding?!?!! I could be so happy right now! :( U had pain with DSs twin didnt you?? I have had none whatsoever. And i have been bleeding for 10 days, so i dont think it wld be a twin miscarrying... i guess I wont really know until i can get in for a scan though! :/ And yep getting more blood tests done tomoro to check levels. Freaking out!!!! x

Murraycod- I know its been confirmed that Im pregnant but i still dont feel it at all!!! Maybe its just my mind protecting itself from the hurt if i do m/c. I know nothing will make it easier though if i do, so I shld just accept it. Its just so hard, as u know! It wld have been so scary for u in those first few weeks not knowing if ur body cld do it by itself. I wld have been an absolute mess!!!

I am definitey thinking now i am only 3.5 weeks pregnant, the most I could be is 11-12 dpo since i only saw dh for the first time in 2 weeks on the 29th November. I guess i could be further along, but that wld be a worry because my levels arent high enough I dont think. I just think I fell pregnant when I was in darwin visiting him, my hormones are out of whack because im still breastfeeding so im bleeding but that I am very lucky that i have a very sticky bub which is giving me higher then normal hcg levels for how early i am! I am still pretty confused that the pregnancy test was so strong at 9dpo... but who knows!!
I need to stop trying to work things out in my head because I really have no idea... obviously!! Bring on thursday and getting my results. In the meantime will this bleeding PLEASE STOP!!!! do u think drinking heaps of water might slow it down or wont make any difference...?

Got some more blood tests today, one vial of blood clotted the other day when they were testing it so they have to re-do a couple more of the blood samples. I have a drs appointment tomorrow at 12.15pm so hcg levels will be in by then (I'm trying my hardest not to call before then to find out!!) I am going to have a better Dr this time that specialises in women's health that can do a bit of an internal examination to check my cervix so that's good. The nurse I saw today said its definitely normal that I am feeling so anxious since I have had a bad papsmear in the past and that this bleeding isn't like a m/c since there's no cramping etc and that we really need to fond out what the problem is sooner rather then later...she made me feel like not so much of a stresshead! I am going to push for my progesterone levels to be tested tomoro too, i wld hate to have a m/c and then find out it might have been prevented. Hopefully the Dr tomoro will send me for a scan before the weekend... I will show her my bleeding fingernails and she might realise I won't be able to get thru the weekend without one! :) I'm just so terrified of beginning to cramp, but I also can't handle not knowing what's going on much longer!! I just want answers... Or for the bleeding to please stop!!
