Hair straighteners - recommendations please!
My DD (turning 11) wants a hair straightener for Christmas. As I am beauty-challenged and have no idea about such things, can anyone recommend me a good one? Not too expensive as she is getting lots of other stuff!
Extra safety features and ease of use a bonus.
Thanks!!

That spinny one on TV (InStyler I believe) is $120! I was considering it until I saw the price. Apparently it's not worth it.
Remington are probably the best bet. A GHD is wet expensive and too hot. What hair type is your DD? Straightening does end up ruining your hair, especially thin hair. Remington have a good range and prices are good too. I have an old VS Sasoon that has lasted me pretty well that was only about $50. You can also get hot pink Remingtons...in fact, I'm pretty sure I saw a hot pink straightener and blow drier pack at BigW.

I'm another cloud 9 lover. They have adjustable temp control too.
I did have a Remington cheap one and it did frizz and damage my hair but I was happy enough with it cos I didn't know any better lol

A god quality one at a reasonable price is the Diva. Available from hair house warehouse. Works like a ghd but at half the price.

Can I just say, N2L, that you aren't beauty-challenged because you are naturally beautiful and gorgeous.
On the other hand, I share your no-idea-ness about things like this. So we must both be naturally beautiful and gorgeous.
I don't think they sell hair-straighteners at Bunnings.

Hmmm... how about we check out Max Brenners at Doncaster when I get back from Los Angeles? I *think* they may have some ;)

I use babyliss pro 230 and I find them better than ghds. IV had both over the years. X

Bumping this one
Would any of the cheaper straighteners manage to curl my hair like ghd's do? I have cheap Remington ones and they take forever to work but from memory they were about ten dollars. I also have Remington straighteners which are great but are too wide for my now shorter hair and they won't curl.

:bump: for Trav, I'd love to know too because I have a wide Remington that straightens well but would love one that curls too.
Re: Hair straighteners - recommendations please!
Thanks I got thin Remington ones that are rounded on the outside and they did the job perfectly.
