So yeah, thats my question. Where do your shoes live? I'm talking the everyday shoes, not the special ones that only get worn every now and then - those ones I've got in boxes or shoe holders in wardrobes.
Yours? Your partners, if you have one? Your kids, if you have any? All in the same spot? Different spots??
What about if your partner has grotty work shoes - do they go somewhere special?
I seem to be constantly tripping over shoes and I'm getting sick of it...
Mine stay in my car under my seat (I don't drive with shoes on) ... The girls usually in the car or on the shoe rack at the front door...
The girls' shoes are in a wicker basket under the hallway table near the front door. Mine are in my walk-in robe.
My everyday shoes are on the floor in my walk in wardrobe.
DH's are usually in the middle of the lounge room floor :rolleyes: until I move them to the wardrobe 1000000 times a day!
DD's are in a huge box in her room- she has a large shoe collection :redface:
She also changes shoes 15 times a day and I'm always on her back about putting them away.
Can you tell I also get annoyed about tripping over shoes? :)
A basket near the front door could work! The kids put theirs under the hall table thing near the front door but there's no room for ours there and DH's are too dirty and stinky to be there. So his are at the back door which means I'm constantly tripping over them to take the washing in and out.
So annoying! Wonder what Ikea has to offer??
The ones we wear all the time are in a trug next to the front door.
The kids others live in their wardrobe and mine and DHs live under the spare bed.
Police boot stay outside at all costs....they go places that do not ever need to be tracked into my house.
My kids have a box in their room but most of the time they are scattered all over the house. DH's are either next to the front door, back door or scattered all over the house. Mine are scattered all over the house. Do you see a pattern there lol! DD loves to wear my shoes so despite my best efforts, they don't stay put. I do try to keep them tidy but I don't have a place for them now that we bought a new bed & there is no gap to be able to put things under it. I need to work on that lol!
Everyday shoes - by front door. I keep a supply in downstairs loo, by the front door, so I don't trip over them. Shoes rarely worn in ky wardrobe, work shoes in the car as I drive in flats.
DD1 has a shoe rack, she is very organised and they are always stacked away in oreder. DD2 has a basket, if I remind her she sometimes puts her shoes in there. DD3 isnt walking so has a few in a box ;). Dh leaves his work boots on the front porch. We have a plastic tub by the backdoor for gumboots and crocs. My shoes tend to end up in the lounge room plus there is a plastic tray in the grage for grotty shoes/thongd from sports/the beach/fishing until they are dry and can be shaken off.
I have two racks fprm shoes in the wadrobe, DH has one, mine is overflowing
Hmm seems we have a lot of shoes in a lot of places!
they are supposed to be in the shoe cupboard but usually all over the house
My mum has one from ikea, that sits in the garage entry for shoes. It a stand up cupboard that has little pull down compartments for shoes.
Mine go on the shoe rack in the bottom of our cupboard. Good ones are in their boxes like you ;)
Our work shoes are always left outside on the front porch, everyday shoes are in a IKEA shoe cabinet(i love it so much,I always have people ask where its from) and formal shoes in the wardrobe.
By the front door we have a shoe rack. Everybody has a row. Slippers on the floor in front of the rack. Off season shoes live in a cupboard in the laundry. Any shoes not in these places go in the bin ;)

DH and I try to keep ours in our rooms. Boys are either in our bay window at the back where we often get changed or in their room. No shoes on the floor in living areas.
No dirty shoes here, so everyone's go onto a shoe shelf in their wardrobes.

I like this idea. We have waay too many shoes in the house. They live on a shoe rack by the front door. But DH's shoes never makes it to there for some reason, it JUST misses everytime by less than 1 metre. One day the shoes might end up missing completely & end up in the bin with some help. ;)
We have a leather looking LARGE. Box thing with a hinged lid that is padded on top so it workers as a seat as well. My kids lay on it so it is big and all our shoes go inside. Got it from the reject shop and love it. Don't have to look at shoes on the floor!
Oh god.... on the bottom of the fish tank stand in the kitchen, in the lounge under an old coffee table, the girls are under their bed but they used to have two shelves on the bookshelf (over 50 pairs of shoes :redface:).
I've culled their shoes as they have both had growth spurts.. DP's seem to land wherever they get taken off...
I'm over tripping over them too.
Mine are in my walk in robe, as is DH's. work shoes are in a tub outside.
Kids have a coloured bin each in the garage, and their shoes are in there. We intend to buy an IKEA shoe cupboard. Love ikea.
We don't wear shoes inside.
We have one of Ikea's expedit 8 cubes which is laid flat in the entry we each have 2 cubes with the canvas inserts. Boys use the top for hats & bags & bottom for shoes. Both are for shoes in mine & DH's case. School bags & work back packs sit on top. Work boots or dirty shoes stay in the garage until they are dry/cleaned.
Both boys are really good at putting their shoes & hats away. I have to say I'm probably the worst ;-)
We have 2 huge wicker baskets I hit at Target. They aren't big enough though I need one for the kids and one each for DH and I. We have a small outside entry area that they live in now right near the front door.
All over the house lol. I try And have them at front door DS1 very good at taking off at front door DS2 not so much. We have a heap in bottom off our wardrobe that I need to go thru and cull. Boys have a storage shelf thing in there room for other shoes etc but often all over bedroom floor!
DD has a hanging shoe holder in her wardrobe. DH and I keep them on racks in our walk in robe. Of course that is where they are supposed to be. There are usually a few around the house and I'm probably as bad as DD at putting them away. I use the excuse that DH doesn't have very many so it's easier for him to manage them all.....
Gardening shoes stay in the garage and there is usually a pair of thongs by the door that I can easily slip on to go down the beach or around the garden.

The kids are in the bathroom they use in drawers.
Shoe racks by the front door, here, for DH and mine. And we have a little tub on the change table (it's a dining table we've converted) for the DSs.
Manky shoes (gardening shoes, soccer boots during season, etc) have to live in the garage.
I have a special bookshelf that has been modified for my shoe collection.
There are now 89 pairs.

All shoes, except for one pair of pluggers and my running shoes (both pairs), are in plastic boxes (if they fit or in the boxes they came in) in the wardrobe. The casual ones are kept under the casual clothes and the work ones are kept under the work clothes (different sides of the wardrobe).
My pluggers and running shoes are neatly under the side-table where keys etc are kept. Diving shoes & galoshes are in the car for when I go visiting friends with creeks & paddocks :)
I take my shoes off when I get home and they get put away before bed. I have over 50 pairs, I think.
I used to have them on their own bookcase in the spare room, but since I'm back at uni I need the bookcase for books :rofl:
I have a wall of bookshelves in my study and they are for my shoes. DP has two shelves allocated to him. I also have a wardrobe that have my boots lying down in shelves.
All my shoes go to those two places: special shoes to flip flops, and different shelves hold different 'categories' of shoes (e.g one shelf for flats, one for stompy shoes, one for runners, several for heels :p)
I like being able to see all of them (bar my boots) in one place so I can decide what to use that day.
In my cupboard. DS uses his large drawer in his tall boy and DD uses her cupboard.
None of us have many shoes so they don't seem to be laying around ever.
Kids shoes on a shoe rack in the laundry except slippers which they keep in their bedrooms. DH and I have ours on a shoe rack in our walk in wardrobe.
Dirty shoes (gardening shoes, gumboots etc) live outside in a big plastic box with a lid (as I'm scared of spiders crawling in my gumboots so lid must be on all the time!). Also then they can't be seen!
When we move I can see I have some serious shoe buying and collecting to do :lol:

I really like the Ikea shoe thing. I need to convince DH we need one of those. NEED. I also love the idea of plastic tub at back door for gumboots. Going to implement that one!! Thanks gals!
We have an old kitchen buffet at the back door, most of the shoes go in the cupboard part.
Gumboots tend to be scattered about the back area along with the thongs
DH's work boots are in the bedroom.
Most of my shoes are in boxes in my wardrobe. With a pair of thongs at each backdoor.

I have shoes all over the place, I have 2 pairs that I wear pretty much all the time and I can never find them! They are kicked off where ever I am sitting or if I need to stand on something etc. DS has a few pairs in the car which he puts on when we go out and his gum boots are always somewhere around the house as he wears them inside all day. DH is the only organised one who puts his shoes on and off the shoe rack which is in the garage near the entrance to the house.
Ours are everywhere. I can't stand it. I like the idea of the big leather box from the reject shop.
Mine are now all neatly along the floor in the walk in robe. I only have 25 or so pairs so they all fit nicely and I like being able to see them all. Everyone else's shoes are under their beds or in the garage.
That doesn't include runners or boots or a number of casual shoes. There are 68 boxes there ;)
