What do you think of this do?

So, I'm off for a much needed hair cut, hopefully at the end of this week. A girl I know posted a girlpic on fb, and I'm thinking I might try the style. I'm not sure if it's right for me so would love some honest opinions!

Trying to attach a pic of me now, but this is the first time I've done that so not sure if its working. Basically my last style was a concave bob that has now gotten quite long. There's a lot of blonde in there that I'm looking to get rid of. My hair is pretty thick, and if I just leave it it's quite frizzy and wavy. I'm pretty conscious of the fact I have a round face - moreso right now while I'm carrying a bit of extra weight. So I don't want this new style to make that look worse.

I like the back and think it will suit you. I would lighten the fringe though, just a little, as I think it would hide your face and you have lovely bone structure (and a pretty face) so it would be a shame to hide it.

I like it. I wonder though, how much effort and product to get her hair to have that volume and then it would depend on your hair thickness . Otherwise I think it would look nice.

Personally, I don't like haircuts that are short one side, longer the other, it just doesn't look right to me.

But, it's your hair, your decision, if you like it, go for it :)

Thanks for the thoughts guys. Kazzo, I reckon the thickness/texture would be alright with my hair - it takes a bit of work to flatten it out and it's pretty thick, so I reckon I could work pretty well with it.

Jaycee, you reminded me, I was wondering if this might be considered too 'out there' for my job? I work in a bank, looking after rural customers and it's a little bit corporate.

Do you think it will take extra time to do?
I think it's nice but personally wouldn't do it myself. If it were me I'd be thinking if it didn't end up suiting me would I be happy to cut the long side off to be the same as the short side to grow out?

I like the cut and think it would suit you but I personally think the sides are too different in length. I would shorten the longer side. I think it would be fine for a corporate situation with your hair colour.

As long as you're not dying your hair pink along with the do I think it would be ok for corporate :)

Teeki you are a stunner! Amazing skin too. I'd have to agree re the fringe... Looks a bit heavy for your delicate and beautiful face. It also looks like a bit of work to style and maintain as there appears to be a bit of product in there, not so much natural movement and a bit of very fine layering which from experience is not so good on fine hair or hair prone to frizz. That said I really like the shape of it and you could defo rock some kind of side swept fringey look like that.

Aw thanks guys, you're so lovely! I agree with shortening the longer side. And yeah, if I really hate it I'd be happy to go ahead and even it out later. The girl I know who posted it, did end up getting it done (not worried about 'copying' as we live so far apart and never see each other) and she got the short side very short, and the longer side a bit differently shaped. Her hair is much flatter than mine though!

I usually have a bit of a side fringe. The pics of me now aren't great because it's been freaking ages since I went to the hairdresser, but I have a side part on the right because there's a pretty fierce cowlick on that side and it's easier to straighten that side and keep it down. The left usually has a bit of a sweep-y side fringe but it's all grown out and gotten a bit lost lol.

And I think I might stay away from the pink :) I'm getting a bit sick of the blonde and want to go back to something a bit like my natural colour with some more natural highlights, but my hairdresser is great at suggesting things that look good so I think I'll trust her on that one :)

Now to see when I can get an appointment! Cos even if I chickened out of this, it desperately needs some attention :lol:

I also have very thick hair which is wavy/frizzy without attention. This style looks like a lot of work to me! Periodically, I have my hair cut short-ish (above the shoulders) and then I remember that I should always keep it long enough to tie back on those days I don't have time to straighten it! I also find that when it is shorter, if I don't straighten it I end up looking like a mushroom! Do you have plenty of time to manage this style? (I agree with the PP, you have lovely skin - it was the first thing I noticed when I look at your pic!)

Lol, I understand the mushroom-head look! Otherwise known as Carol Brady :lol: A few years ago I had an awful hairdresser who just kept layering to a ridiculous level, I had the worst mushroom-head. The bottom was below my shoulders, but at the top got down to maybe 7cm. Not a good look! If I keep the whole lot at the same level though, it looks alright. Before the concave bob I had quite a short bob, all one length, very blunt. It worked because there were no top layers to fluff up.

The thing with my hair is to use mousse, after I wash it if I can't be bothered straightening I put in mousse and it curls, or the waves get more defined and it stops the flyaways. I reckon that's the main reason it'll work ok, my hair seems to like the product I use and it's pretty easy to style. I also like how it looks when I wash it at night, sleep on it and leave it. Sooo many times I've gone out shopping with total bed head :rofl: My Mum always compliments me on it!

But I think I'll show the hairdresser first, and see what adjustments she would make. I think in the left pic the long is too long, and in the right pic the short is maybe just a bit short for my hair. Got an appointment on Saturday at 11:30, looking forward to it :)

If it's a new salon maybe tread carefully this time then when you know they can do a good cut get it changed. Nothing worse than a hairdresser who will not listen and does what she wants, not what you want.
It can also be thinned out. I get mine razor cut as it suits my hair type and it sits alot better than a scissors cut.

Don't worry about the rural lot, they will notice and maybe not comment to you but I have heard my brother come home and mention that 'the girl in the bank had her hair done and it looked nice'

I think a fringe would suit you really well - the longer side fringe is a great option because if you don't like it, it's not long to get it back to what you like.

That's exactly what I'm worried about. I think it depends on where it ends, the bob worked pretty well and gave me a bit of shape lol.

Thankfully it's not a new place, I wouldn't be game to try this with someone new I don't think! I reckon I might even see if they've got a few minutes for me to drop in tomorrow and see what she thinks, then if they recommend changes I'll know what I'm in for. If she says straight up no it won't look good, I'll get her thoughts on a different change - I'm lucky I've found someone I trust!

I do this all the time when I want a change, tell her roughly want I want, then look at some pictures while she does the same then we decide.

So far I have never been disappointed :)

Im feeling really good about it now :) She said my hair texture is perfect and she likes my colour ideas. I told her I was concerned about my face shape and the short side puffing up too much, and she agreed the layers need to be longer but said not to worry about my face. We'll start with a big fringe and trim it back if needed on Saturday.

I finally have a pic! It's not very good though. It's funny cos I look in the mirror and it looks so much better than the photos I take, I don't like a lot of them lol.

This side shows more the long side. the short side is a bit shorter than I'd wanted but I'm getting used to it quickly. We didn't do so much of a fringe this time because this was I can get it out of my face better, but I think next time I'll ask for a bit more chop on the long side.
