Was Zoe the 1st baby born?

Well Zoe is two weeks old today!! Can't believe how quickly the time has passed.

awww.... it's just so awesome isn't it B!?!?!.....

Eleni is 8 days today!!!! :D :D

Ahh I don't know if its awesome. Zoe is my last baby and I want to soak up all the newborn stuff!!

She needs to stay little longer!!

yeah I know what you mean...Although I wouldn't mind just forwarding until they sleep a little longer at night!! LOL

Yes Zoe was the first actual April baby, but if we count all of us from the DIG then Bellany's little lads were first :)

Wilder is a week old today, I want to stop him from growing so fast :( He is an absolute champ; all he does is eat, sleep and poo. We're only waking once a night between 10-6 which is amazing considering the other boys never slept well this early :o

Have our midwife weekly check up tomorrow, cant wait to see if he has gained back the 50g he lost since birth. He is such a teeny little thing!

Completely forgot we switch over to babies born in :) I'm another wanting to slow down the growing to soak up the last newborn experience :( Speaking of there she is ,,,

So happy! With Wilder being IUGR I've been a little concerned about how his growth would play out on the outside. The community midwife came today for our 1 week check and my little lad is now sitting at 2565g, 30g above his birth weight! He has also grown 2cm, making him 48cm long. Awesome growth for such a small bub! And really nice to know that my boobies are working :)

We had Zoe's 2 weeks check on Monday and she had gained 390g in a week!

Should really get off computer and go to bed.. very early morning tomorrow... all 4 kidddies to dawn service should be interesting

Question... Have any of the bubs gone from taking 30min to feed, to 10-15min and then they are done?? Only one side!?

Eleni has done this overnight and again this morning.... She zonks out after 10-15min sucking on the one side, then I can't wake her to go again.. she flat out refuses and throws those cute little lips out! Do you think she would be getting enough in that time to last her...? Overnight she fed every 2.5-3hrs.

Harri- Zoe has started only taking 30 min to feed rather then 45 min-1 hr.. so they can get faster. as for the one side thing, is it feeling pretty drained? I always offer the second side and change her bum after one side to rouse her but she sometimes will just suck a few times and go back to sleep.

guess who slept the entire night in her bassinet!! (apart from her feeds of course at 12 and 4) was so nice to sleep properly! specially after the really early morning as we were up at 4:30am to make the dawn service. We brought one of those sleep positioners which holds their sides (safe and sound one) figured it would make her feel snug like the feeling she gets from being held and then put her in the love to swaddle wrap and it worked!!

Beatrix- yeah it feels pretty drained, although if i squeeze a bit comes out.. I think that I have a quick flow, because she chokes on it sometimes! haha poor little thing... she's still asleep from her 7:30am feed..2.5hrs so seems she's getting enough! I change bottom between sides also... and I have tried the wet face washer etc!.. not that I am complaining about quick feeds, just that I'm hoping she's getting enough! :)

I use the love to Swaddle wrap too, she likes it! Will have to go buy another one! Was just using the muslin wrap but she was getting her arms out and scratching herself.

Harri as long as she's weeing and pooing she's getting enough :) DS3 only ever took one side every feed.

Beatrix what is this sleep positioner??? Off to google now!

We've gone from happy to be put down and sleep alone to not wanting to be put down to sleep at all the last few days. Time to pull out the Ergo I think not getting a lot done. Feeling a bit sorry for DS3 too he can't get near me without bub as well. I'll have to work harder at some one on one time with him.

Willow- its one of those anti roll things.. not 100% recommended by SIDS though but we do have the angel care monitor in the bassinet and i figure the love to swaddle since her arms are up by her head if its positioned under her arms she cant wiggle down at all and I always place her in the bassinet so her feet are practically touching the bottom

Oh how things change, it was SIDS recommended back then. If you didn't have one of those they recommended a rolled up terry flat nappy either side to keep them positioned :)

HAHA.... yep!

Eleni has been spending a bit more time awake last couple of days...has anyone else noticed this with their bubs? Is it too early for them to be spending an hour or two awake after a feed???

Another question... Is everyone out and about with bub yet?? I can't even remember with DD1 what I did or when I started actually going shopping etc with her!

Harri- yep Zoe has a fair few wake periods now!! Looking around taking in the world.

We started going out about 5 day after bubs was born. I haven't ventured out without DH yet though.

Yep exactly the same her... keep asking my midwife friend if this or that is normal!! LOL prob driving her mental

Unfort atm Zoe face is covered in milk/hormone pimples. They dont look very nice at all and people ask whats wrong with her face, grrr see even I know that those pimples are completely normal at 2-4 weeks of age and they normally disappear by 6-8 weeks, but they do look angry and nasty :(

We're having more awake time too. Our curtains are most interesting, so are the little square patterns on the lounge :) This afternoon it looked like she was trying to smile at the curtains. I remember DS3 smiling at the heating vents in the ceiling before he started smiling at people lol Doesn't say much for us does it :lol:

I think we forget because we're in a sleep deprived haze in the newborn stage :D

Willow- I love the beginning of smiling stage!! Zoe has started to respond more and follow you when you talk and move, so cute!!

Beatrix- Eleni has some of those too... but they are slowly going away i think!

I was just coming in to ask if it was too early for actual social smiles? I am sure she has been smiling at me today :) So I guess not then, not too early I mean :)

I have now had a rude reminder about sleep deprivation. I do not do it well :( Hats off to all you mummies who wear it well, I just don't. I'm going to try really hard to just fake it and not be a complete witch! I know now why it's been used as an effective form of torture!
I do love my babies so much, but this part is really hard going. This is why they make then so adorable :)

I don't think it's too early to smile!!... Eleni has some definite SMILES....!!

Yeah the sleeping bit is difficult... I seem to do ok most days, maybe I'm a lucky one?... BUT I do remember it being much more difficult to cope with first time around with DD1!!

Do any of your lovely babies decide that the best time to have a poo is the second we get comfy to feed?????? After just 2-3 sucks Eleni lets one go...without fail, EVERY TIME!! hahaha She also likes to pee when I take her nappy off!! :o I don't remember DD1 doing it all that much......

No no tummy time here yet, do we start that this early? I really have forgotten stuff! I know that having them upright on your chest is just as good for head and neck exercise too, so we do that now :)

Georgia pees often when her nappy is off too, I think the cool air might trigger it. I have a folded terry flat nappy under her every change now just in case. She usually wakes up from a sleep and poos, I actually think she would sleep longer if she would poo first. But no she wakes herself up pooing.

How are everyone's nipples going now? Mine are heaps better. I am soooooooo grateful for it too. I stopped BFing my first two really early because of sore bleeding nipples, and lack of support & education. With DS3 I persevered through the pain for well over a month, maybe close to two, until we had him treated at my chiro. So it is a very pleasant surprise this time to be pain free at 2 weeks :D Especially with another frequent feeder.

We had our first few minutes of tummy time today. She wasn't very keen lol

As for nipples. Mine have been fine since day one, its weird. Same thing with DD3 as well but my first two I had cracks and bleeding.

3 weeks old today!!!! And DH goes back to work tomorrow and school goes back so should be interesting morning. Slightly sleep deprived but not too bad. She still waking 2-3 times a night. 2 times to feed and once to resettle.

Had a pretty full on emotional weekend with my grandad being hospitalized on life support and family deciding to remove it as he wouldn't want to live that way so we had to say our good byes and he was read his last rights. For him to actually keep breathing on his own!! He has been sedated but breathing in his own for over 24hrs now so now family has to reasses what medical course to take (he is 83, with multiple health issues) but yeah seriously emotional up and down weekend and I'm drained.

Wow Beatrix that is a full on emotional roller coaster! Sounds like he's not ready to go anywhere just yet.
I hope tomorrow morning isn't too interesting for you and all runs smoothly.
None of mine were ever keen on tummy time :D

Unfort my grandad passed away late yesterday evening.
I'm so glad he was able to hold on long enough to see Zoe a few times. His great grandchildren meant the world to him

I'm sorry Beatrix :hug: Glad he got to see Zoe a few times, I'm sure he's at peace now and enjoying his great grandchildren from above.

You can start tummy time whenever you like... we did some yesterday and she seemed to enjoy it!! She's got quite good neck control for such a little bub!

I have a disposable change mat under her at all times! HAHA.... cheeky monkeys!

Nipples are OK.... with DD1 I had cracked/sore nipples all the time.. she wasn't a very good feeder, so in the end I was expressing her feeds. did that for a few months! This time we are doing so much better! just a little tender around the areola every so often!
