Measurements at early scan

Confused about my SILs scan results. She was around 6 weeks and 5 days pregnant when she had her scan.

Baby measured at 6 weeks 2 days, but the sac measured at 8 weeks! Why such a discrepancy in dates?

And we are all a little hesitant about getting too excited as the babys heart rate was 87bpm at the scan. I've heard that anything under 90bpm at that gestation generally means high chance of MC?

Can anyone please give me any hope and positive stories that I can pass on to my sis in law please? She's stressing and that can not be good for her or the baby.

Purplepixie, I am really sorry for what your sister is going through - I'm afraid that it doesn't sound very positive to me... I had a HR of 105 in the twin that was measuring a week behind the other, whose HR was 165, and by the time we had another scan, the second twin was gone. :( However, I truly hope your sister has a different outcome with her little one. I wonder if a lot of people who viewed, like me, just don't have a positive story to share. I'm sorry.

Sorry, I don't have any experience with this but just wanted to wish your SIL good luck. Why not ask the doc for clarification? Fx for her the worry is all for nothing! :)

Thanks ladies. I just guess I'm needing reassurance everything will be ok for her too.

Sister in law isn't sure when her next scan is. She's got a gp appointment on Wednesday so hopefully should know more then re statistics etc as sonogropher was rather quiet.

My scan showed Bub at 6w2d and Bubba heart rate was 144 bpm

That HR does seem a little slow fingers crossed her little one is ok. I know when I was 6 weeks my bubs HR was 146bpm. Best of luck for her next scan and hopefully a happy growing little bub.

With DD at her early u/s which I had due to bleeding she was measuring 5weeks5days and her heart rate was low (cant remember the figure though sorry) as I remember them commenting to each other that it didn't look good. Well she is 2 now :)

Unfortunately at this stage it's such a waiting game and my recent scan at 6weeks they couldn't even see the fetal pole (same with DS) so things really are early and that may just be the case.

At 5wks 6 days my bub had a sac that was 6 weeks I think but only a heartbeat of 79bpm

I was waiting til today to reply because today I had 8week scan and bub measures 8wks1day and heartbeat was 167bpm.

Everyone is different, never give up

Oh and I had fetal pole at 5wks 6 days too but wasn't expecting that til after 6 weeks

Hey ladies my sil had some spotting since last week and is now hanging for her ultrasound to check size and hb. Dr doesn't seem too concerned. Will update when I know more. Please pray that her bubba is tucked in safely and will make it earthside..

I really hope everything thurs out ok. As for the measurements, I wouldn't be too concerned. I measured a week smaller at 7 weeks but my sac measured 8. Ultrasounds aren't always accurate with dates. The heart rate is a concern though :( thinking of your family and hope for good news. X

Could it be that the heart had only just started beating hence why its so slow?
Also, just tiny discrepancies (human error) in measuring can mean the difference in days, possibly even a week or so at this point!

Sil had her scan and baby is okay thank goodness.

Hr has gone up to the 160 bpm range.

So relieved for her.

That's good to hear! :D They probably did the first scan just as the baby's heart started beating so it hadn't ramped up yet :D Glad all is well.
