As the title says, DD2 has begun pulling off screaming whilst feeding. She's getting milk, so its not like she's complaining of lack of milk.
Any ideas why and what it can do?

Six week growth spurt/wonder week. Both mine did this at six weeks- feeding for comfort then screaming when there either was or wasn't milk, then too much feeding and refluxy. They grew out of it.
Can you try using a sling to comfort bub and only feed when you know they are likely hungry, then swap sides lots until you feel a letdown

Arimeh - I did question reflux myself. DD1 had it bad. I think I'm in denial though and want to consider anything else but that!
Olive - I guess that could be a possibility. This is happening right at the start of the feed though.....would it really take that long (I can't feel it anymore)
Arcadia - Do you know if the 6 week growth spurt happens based on due date or actual age? If its due date it could be quit possible, if actual age, well she's 10 weeks. I'm glad to know yours grew out of it though. I'll try only feeding when I'm sure she's definitely hungry. She has been feeding quite frequently at times lately (put on 240g last week!!!)
Could she have an ear ache or sore throat? DS was about 4 months old when he was doing similar & he had an ear infection in both ears & a red sore throat.
Another good suggestion. DH has had a sore throat lately so that could be a possibility....:

Sore throat is a very likely suspect since it hurts to swallow. Try giving panadol 30 mins before a feed and see if that helps
If your other one had reflux I'd definitely consider it. Silent reflux usually kicks in bad around 6ish weeks. I've had 2 with chucky reflux and 2 with silent reflux. So I'm assuming the next one will as well LOL
I immediately thought reflux. Dd had it from birth and then when ds didn't have it at birth I thought we got lucky but sure enough at six weeks old he turned into a miserable, screaming, pulling off unable to sleep very sad little boy. I'd definitely consider reflux as a possibility.
Wonder weeks are based on due date Chody, so your bubs could be in the middle of one.
Sounds like feeding time in this house. You prob don't want to hear it but ds has reflux. It was like this every feed before medication but now only occurs on a bad day. I hope it passes quickly and is just a wonder week.
It is seeming a lot like reflux isn't it? Boo lol. When she was born I was so excited cause I didn't think she had it but she's slowly showing more signs. I was worried I was reading too much into it (ie I know what to look for so perhaps I was jumping to conclusions) but maybe I'm not.
Sounds like Reflux hun, I was in denial for my second as well as I had gone through it all with my daughter the first time and she had/ still has severe reflux at 3.5 years of age. But really there was no denying it, they both had different symptoms, but in the end putting him on medication early on was the best decision, as he didnt get as bad or develop bad sleep patterns and pain association with breastfeeding /eating like she did.
sounds like reflux to me too. It took until DD3 was 7 months before I finally accepted she had reflux - like Razzberry said, her symptoms were very different to DD1's.
Hmmm maybe I should get her looked at....the thing that confuses me in her case (and makes me question whether it is reflux) is that her symptoms aren't all the time - they seem to come and go. Can that happen? Or is it a sign its something else? Or is it a sign that its just starting...?
Chody as you know DS has silent reflux and he doesn't have the symptoms all the time either. GP said that was normal. Hugs hun - I hope for your sake its not reflux again xxx
Miss A's symptoms are limited to discomfort/pain in the early hours of the morning. For the rest of the time she was completely symptom free - which is why I didn't think it was reflux.
Wow. I learn something new every day! I thought it had to be all the time like it was with DD1. It probably is it then, as when it does happen she acts exactly the same as DD1 did. Boo. At least it doesn't seem as bad as DD1s. That's something I guess!
Yes, reflux is cyclic - thats why so many reflux mumma's question themselves so much and think they must be crazy as their baby will be so unsettled and then fine the next. I am a volunteer for the Reflux infants support association, we have a website with lots of good information if you are interested and looking for support.
My DD screamed, cried and never slept 24/7, my son never was as bad, not sure if it was that his was managed early on or if he would never had got to the samr stage my daughter did. My daughter had silent reflux, where my son was/is a major spewer! completely different, but reflux and in pain just the same.
Yeah ds symptoms aren't constant either. We seem to have what I call reflux days. Those days leaving the house is hard as he is just miserable and feeding is a nightmare but then we have other days that he is quite comfortable and a happy bubba. Sometimes it makes me feel like I'm going loopy and imagining the reflux and I'm sure others think I'm being over the top until they see us on a bad day. I hope you can get what ever is causing her discomfort sorted soon.
I remember telling people about my DD always having reflux but then she would get "episodes" which could last days or weeks where she was really bad. I now know these are called "reflux flares"
That's good to know razzberry. I start thinking I have done something wrong and wonder what I have eaten to set him off when I know my diet has not changed. It's certainly a horrible thing reflux.
Thank you all for your information. I guess a trip to the doc might be in order then. I wonder who's likely to believe me more, the paediatrician that diagnosed it with DD1 but agreed that DD2 didn't seem to have it this time, or my GP?
Just go to your GP and say you think she has reflux and you'd like some losec etc. My DS2 got reflux but it only ever affected him at night - lucky me! he was like Jeckyl and Hyde.
Id go to the Gp first, and then the paediatrician for a review, if no joy, then I would get another opinion. Sadly medical professionals dont all have good training and knowledge of reflux symptoms and how to treat it.
