Saw this poll on The Project tonight and a lot of people speak to their mothers numerous times a day. I was gobsmacked because in my group of friends probably only a few talk to their mothers often, but the rest don't speak very often at all.
So how often do you speak to your mum?
Usually every couple of days, sometimes every day.
We don't see eye to eye to well, so maybe 1-2 times a month if I can be bothered to call. Or she calls me when she has something to complain about lol
Nearly everyday. She loves to facetime us esp during the most inconvenient time like when trying to put dd2 to sleep :)
I used to talk to my Mum a minimum of once a week. Usually for about an hour or until my ear got sore from holding the phone next to it.
I still find myself thinking 'oh Mum will be interested in this' or 'I must ask Mum about this' or similar at least a couple of times a week even though she's been gone for 8 years.
I miss my Mum so much. I wish I had spoken more often.
Daily. Sometimes more than once a day. If I don't speak with her daily she accuses me of being a bad daughter. Lol. Half joking... We do have a great relationship, but she gets sick a fair bit so she likes it if I ring and check in, especially if I hear from my sister (lives with mum) that she's unwell.
I see her at least once a week too.
Nearly everyday.
Once every 10 days or so. On average.
DH and him mum, once a week.
Most days.
A couple of times a week. I see her pretty much every week on Mondays and Tuesdays

We live in the same street too... Lol... So see each other almost every day.
We have a great relationship :)

At least once a week we talk in person. I usually visit mum on a Friday and sometimes on the weekend. Sometimes we talk during the week too
I'm lucky to speak with her fortnightly. Not because I don't want to, but we are both busy and she works, and I hate feeling like I am bothering her if she is busy. Even just writing that feels dodgey :( she is still a mum of a teenager herself (my brother is only just 18) and there's been a lot of drama going on for her with my dad. They are now separated and I feel she contacts me more than when they were together, but I just feel like I am bothering her if I call when she is busy.... We have a good relationship though... I think ;)
Surely other people with a good relationship with their mumdon't speak everyday
Most days. She's the best!
It was every couple of days, 3 days would go by at most. Now it's maybe once per month.
Every day to every 2nd day... sometimes it could be a few times a day...
Once every 3 months or so. Sometimes less.
Most days if not every day, if more than a day or 2 goes by she thinks we have fallen in a big black hole and has to call! :rofl: Some conversations go.. how are you .. good, how is dad.. good, how are the kids.. great... ok cool well love you, love you too..bye :rofl: Awesome!
We speak pretty much every day but she is my employer too and we are a management team so no avoiding it :lol:
Before this we talked maybe once every 4-7 days. There were probably periods where it was close to two weeks ??
My DH speaks to his mum once a week or fortnight, generally only calls her because DD brings a phone asking for Nanny.
I'm sure there are. Talking every day might mean a relationship is very strong but on the flip side it could mean that it was co-dependant and toxic.:
There's no right amount to talk. If a person's mother is a nasty cow who is mean and hurtful then every 6 months might be too often.
Very bad relationship with my mum. Not spoken in over 18 mths. She lives 90mins drive away and hasn't bothered to ring about her new grandson.
We talk Nearly every day. We don't go longer than say 3 days without seeing each other either :) love my mum, hope my daughter loves me like I love my mum :)
Every day to every 2 days. Even if just a quick hi. If I don't ring or here from her often sms her or send her pic of kids.
My mother used to ring me to talk at me about five times a day. She has absolutely no understanding of who I am or what I do or what I need from her. She now rings about once a day. It's still too much. I'd prefer her to call once a week. That way she'd have half a chance of me calling her sometimes.
Mind you, this is the woman who deliberately, in my face, undermines my parenting of my children. Knowingly.
If she wasn't married to my Dad, I'd probably have little (if anything) to do with her. Very sad, but true.
Most days. Not necessarily talking but at least a few texts. She is lonely (dad sleeps all day works all night) not the healthiest person so I touch base randomly during the day. She takes dd swimming once a week and has her a full day another day. She has dinner with us at least once a week. She can be painful but she is mum. Heart is in the right place so I zone out her annoying bits.
If I could only speak to her with dad as well it would be once every month or so. Bad relationship there
Anywhere from 2-7 days a week. I send her pics of the girls every couple of days and we talk in the phone probably twice a week, as well as conversations through email and text, and we see her pretty much every weekend.
I have a great relationship with my mum. Sadly she lives a looong way away and her and Dad are moving further.
We both have great phone plans so I ring her whenever I feel like it, but she doesn't really feel comfortable talking on the phone. So at usually once a week, sometimes more, sometimes less, depending on how busy each of us is.
When we had a proper phone line, it would just about be daily. You could set your watch to the time Mum would ring me or vice versa. More so when my step-dad used to work lol. Now that we have VOIP not so often cause sometimes the line is ****. But we will speak daily via facebook chat, or leave each other messages for the other to reply to next time they're on.
I have a bad relationship with my mother. I last talked to her about three years ago.
My dad though, I talk to every few days and go see most weekends. He gets a bit upset if I don't go see him.
Only in my dreams as she passed away last April
Gosh I feel bad reading this. I talk to my MIL as much as most of you speak to your Mum - generally at least once a day. I'm lucky to talk to my Mum once every 2-3 weeks for about 20-30mins. We don't have a very close relationship. I really hope my relationship with my kids is like the one I have with my MIL. I often wonder why I'm so close to her and not my own Mum. I guess we are more similar personalities and have similar interests? I also think our whole relationship has been based on a mutual respect. I don't feel like its been like that with my own Mum.

Mum is our caregiver for our kids on Fridays but while I have been on maternity leave we've all spent fridays together which has been lovely as previously with both of us working I really missed that Mum/Daughter time, I am going to miss it again when I return to work in a few weeks.
Mum's one of my best friends, she is so supportive of DH and I, and is just perfect with the kids, she upholds our parenting style and is so easy going, knows when to back off or speak up, very intuitive. We are taking her on holidays with us in November for a week - DH actually suggested it as they get along so well.
I know I'm super lucky to have such a great Mum. We've had our moments though, when I was younger I certainly didn't appreciate and respect her like I do know. I think becoming a Mum makes you realise how much your own Mum loves you.

Several times a day, usually. Mum spends several months of the year overseas and I really miss her the first few weeks she is gone. I'll think of something totally banal that I 'need' to tell her, but it will be 3am there and I can't justify the cost of the call to talk about nothing anyway! I usually adjust after the first few weeks, but I still miss her.
So sad for all of you who have lost your mum or who don't have a good relationship with yours. Mine drives me crazy sometimes, but I love her to bits.
She hasn't bothered with me in 7 years. I am jealous of you ladies with good mums :)
Barely ever. One of the reasons I deleted Facebook was to be in contact with her less. She lives 12 hours away, and I might see her 1-2 times a year with a handful to texts thrown in between.
