What age did your little one/s stop napping during the day?
12 months
My older two stopped having naps at around 2. My youngest was still having one until she was 3.5.
DD is 2.5 and has a one hour nap at daycare (Monday and Tuesday). If she's having a crappy day and needs extra sleep I'll get her to have a one hour nap at home on other days. We have a one hour maximum limit because if it's any longer she won't go to bed at night. She started having days with no naps and being ok with it around 4-6 months ago.
18 months. If he has one now it affects his night sleep (he's 2.5yo now)
My almost 5 and 3 year olds still have day naps of 1.5-2hrs.
DD1 was before 2. She'd be in bed by 5pm though for the next year or so.
DD2 is almost 2 and only naps a couple of times a week. Again in bed by 5pm on days without, 7:30 with. She wakes less at night if she has a nap but is rarely interested in having one so she just has one if she asks.
DD can still have a nap on occasion( as in, maybe 1-2 times a month or so) at 6 1/2! DS1 however stopped napping at about 18 months, but will sleep for a good 12 hours at night. DS2 is 3 in 2 weeks and is still probably napping 4/7 days for 1-2 hours. Although if he sleeps too long it impacts his night time routine. DD and DS2 sleep for between about 8-10 hours if they have a day sleep.
DS1 still has one most days at 3.5, but he's always been a big sleeper.
DS2 has been hit and miss since 12 months.
My DS was almost 3 when he stopped having day sleeps. DD was closer to 2... then she started going to bed really late if she had a day sleep, so we started cutting them out and now she goes to bed at a much more civilized time.
Funny timing of this thread, both of mine actually had a nap today! DD1 (5 in March) hasn't had a day sleep in ages so will be interesting to see what happens tonight. It was a particularly late nap too but all worth it though, had a brilliant day with extended family at the beach!
DD now 2 yrs has just decided to give up hers. And what a disaster it is! She gets to about 2pm and the whinging whining and general not coping begins. She actually really needs it but flat out refuses. Sometimes if we're in the car around that time she'll nap but otherwise theres no longer any reprieve for me till bed time. Gosh I used to be so productive during naps!
DS (2yrs 8mths) has a nap everyday at daycare, and when he's at home he has one 70% of the time; ranging in time from 2hours to 3.5 hours.
I'm hoping he continues for a while, particularly when our new bub arrives in a few weeks!
DS is almost 3.5 years old and still sleeps for 2 hours everyday.
He's always been an awesome sleeper, goes to bed at 7pm and wakes at 7:30am!
DS1 3 yrs
DS2 18months
DD1 3 years
My friends two older children still had naps when they went to Kindy! Her third however is almost three and is only napping every couple of days.
DD1 stopped napping on a regular basis around 2.5. She will occasionally have a nap these days (once a week if I'm lucky), but I'd prefer she didnt as it effects bedtime too much. Without a nap she is ready for bed by 6:30!
DD1 (5 in Jan) will nap if we've had late nights like this last week and will sleep 45mins to 1.5hrs. DD2 (3 in Feb) still has one every day anywhere from 1.5hrs to 2.5hrs.
It's a little hazy but I am fairly sure Moo was around 2.5. He might have had one a week for awhile longer. He was the first in his group of friends as they all had naps until well after age 3. He would be in bed before 6pm. Buster still naps and just turned 2.
DD1 was over 3, well over 3 as I had DS and I was glad when they were both down at the same time.
DS I was horrified to discover didn't nap past 18months. He however, would sometimes go to bed at 4:30-5pm instead so that was better than 11pm.
DD2 still does most days for an hour or so. Today and 2 days ago she has refused, so I'm feeling the end is sadly nigh. She fell asleep at 5pm today after telling me she wanted dinner and to go to bed. Sure beats to 2 hours it has taken me lately to get her to sleep, so I'm torn about whether this is a good development or not lol. I was hoping to hang onto them until after the big kids had gone back to school....
DS1 stopped at around his 3rd birthday but will still fall asleep in the car or on his fold out couch if he's tired enough
DS2 has just turned 2yo and is still going strong. He has cut back from a huge 3-4 hour sleep to a 1.5-2 hour sleep though
DD1 stopped at 2.5yo, and at that time finally started sleeping through the night. Even now at 4.5yo on the occasion she does fall asleep in the day, even if it is only 5 mins it affects her night sleep. So I tend to be a bit of a mean mum and wake her up!
Just turned three year old still needs an hour a day. Doesn't always get it, but still totally needs it.
Dd was 2.5 and ds about 2 when I forcibly stopped day naps. I like the kids in bed together and around 7pm so when naps interfered with that I stopped them. I also find no naps means they are asleep within minutes of going to bed.
I am solo parenting 10-12 hours every day except weekends so I do what helps me.
On weekends I let them nap because Dh can help if they take ages to go to bed. I find both have needed at least one nap a week until 3.5.
Liebling was 18m. At that point he was getting 2-8 hours at night of very broken sleep and being very active.
I know some children still napping at 4. Who are really chilled children. I do get jealous sometimes.
All of mine have lost their day nap at 2y4m because I force them to over the christmas holidays when there is no car trips/activities etc. In the process of DD2 losing her nap atm since I am totally over the 10-11pm bedtime if she has even a tiny nap but it has been unavoidable during the school term because she falls asleep in the car at school pickup.
I was right. The end was nigh.
No naps here any more. Bed time 4000 times easier. 22 1/2 months.
