oh dear - we are quite a chatty bunch of big kidlets talking about our toys!
well, the kids toys... but they're ours too!
Looking at getting Lego Minecraft for Lachlan for his birthday. He'll be 10 so don't mind paying out some extra $$ for double digits.
i don't get minecraft (probably not having a kidlet in that age helps!)
We're not at mine craft age yet either, sorry Astrolady.
JLeigh, sometimes Target stock them (well ours does). I got one for DS and his mate for Christmas. Otherwise I've had to buy DD1's online through eBay.
Your little guy would possibly also love the Lego inspired knife/fork/spoon set that clicks together.
Apparently the world is going to end. A Lego surfboard is lost in amongst the friends city we have going on!
Hi girls DS1 has been introduced to Lego! Mainly over Christmas but did get one for his birthday which had been a bit hit & miss. Christmas ones are going down well, only problem is we seem to be missing a piece :( for one section of the fire engine (I think it's part of the Lego City stuff). Do you know anywhere were I can easily get a replacement bit?
I've searched lounge/dining room where it's been set up but can't find the piece. (A bit concerned ds2 may have hit it somewhere off the table where I can find it during a light tantrum). I didn't check the pack when it got opened as DH opened it; ds1 is putting it together well by himself from the pics (mostly when ds2 is sleeping).
sometimes pieces are missing from packs - especially small bits. i'll pm you a link as lego actually offer a free replacement service for pieces missing from new sets. you just need to know what number the set is, and what the piece looks like. it will take a few weeks (they come from Netherlands from memory) but still relatively quickly

DS has gone retro this week. Wants me to build the old sets. particularly the police ones and man, we must have had an obsession lol. There are heaps. I have also built the post office and a little telephone booth. Had to explain to DS what it was :rofl:.
Then we have some really old Fabuland stuff, but no directions that my mum kept so I googled and sure enough, can find the instructions. Going to see if I can find some more :D
Dd has been looking at the catalogue. She got the police station only a couple of months ago. But there is a NEw police station and she desperately wants that now too! How many police station can a kidlet need?
DP is still on his no more lego ban, told SIL to go look at the toy room & she was like
"Yeah there is just a little bit much in there" :doh:

I put together..so we put together the cars 2 stuff last night very cool!
I follow a lego guy who sells here in brisbane and there is the raddest Simpsons house coming out! Am so getting that for me :P

We sent a request on dec 22 for a replacement piece. It was mailed dec 23 and arrived yesterday from overseas. Not bad

I have to go through and update my list as to what we actually have at home now (with all the double ups & things at x-mas), was slightly shattered no-one else got DD2 some lego for her birthday.
She really wants (well they both do) Olivia's Tree House but BG has said it's been discontinued so I guess we probably wont find that one.
DP is really on his NO MORE LEGO bender so I think it might be time to ask the girls to pack away some of the smaller builds and just leave out a few of the bigger things they REALLY love.
Maybe then it wont look like so much, they will have more for free play and then we might be able to start sneaking a few more things in along the way.
DD2 got the lego friends calendar, soccer & bedroom sets for her birthday along with a bucket with a farm set... so she did get some lego (thanks to BG & mummy) and I kind of hope the late comers mail her some or she chooses to spend her birthday money on it and DP doesn't argue :p
Just thought I'd drop in and let you girls know that apparently there is a Lego exhibition/activity at the Melbourne museum at the moment :)
DS was missing one of the pieces from one of his City trucks. I tried the lego site but it said this particular piece was out of stock :( I was still able to order it but I have no idea how long it would be until it came. It is the centre of a wheel, so the truck is missing a wheel. He can still play with it though, just looks funny. He was quite upset about it.
Rowellen, the longest it's taken for anything for us was about a week on back order and then postage from o/s

There is a normal tree house set if you can't get the friends one. There is also ebay as an option...
Started pulling apart the friends city last night. Dd asked me to cos we have rental inspection on Monday and knows we have to vac before. Got all but half dozen things pulled down. Guess what I'm about to start doing now??

I got a notification today to say that DS's missing lego piece has been posted. Yay! I hope it arrives as quick as yours BG!
DS spent hours on the weekend building lego. And he has asked every day this week to build more. I'm glad he has taken to it so well because he will be getting heaps more for his birthday lol!

We may be visiting the Lego shop again tomorrow. Mum bought me a Lego pencil case but it doesn't match my calendar at work so dd offered to swap - as long as we buy her the bright calendar to go with it! Lol
We are going to Brickvention on Sunday morning. Went last year and was good but I think DS will be a better age this time. DD is excited as she remembers going last time. After we will go to the museum which has the really big (real brick size) foam Lego bricks and loads of Duplo at the moment. In the Hall they are doing a wall of Lego where everyone creates a 4x4 brick according to a color map then these are placed in a numbered position on the wall and will depict a James Bond scene.
we contemplated brickvention but realised the day out was just too exxy for us when we factor in travel :(
Brickvention was great - was much easier this year as DS didn't want to touch/pull apart everything. Lots of trains again - so even if kids don't like Lego if they love trains is perfect. Some great models - I like the big stuff (so not kit stuff but like a massive Vegemite jar, or there was a Sydney Opera house and a massive suspension bridge).
I really would love the Mindstorm stuff - and someone had the Dolphin Cruiser customized with the Intelli Brick and motor and controlling it via bluetooth from their IPAD - can't wait for the kids to get a bit older so I can justify buying that - it is meant for 10+ but I reckon once DD is 7 I can justify the $500 to myself :-). I must get mum and dad to bring my technics Lego over next time they go home - it was a pneumatic set.
We received the missing brick from DS's grand prix truck set today. One very happy little boy was able to finish it off properly :) What great service!

I may have been to the lego shop this morning. and i may have agreed to buy some lego movie stuff for the poppet... and i may have assembled it this arvo....
and i may have been playing with lego with the express purpose of designing her birthday invitations and associated "stuff"
Unfortunately been too busy :( and still not hugely keen on Lego out when ds2 (nearly 2) is up and about still.
I have been eyeing off a building table (not Lego branded) in Big W that looks potentially useful for free building but doesn't have storage area underneath which I think is what is prefer for tidy Lego storage.
We've been so busy with the girls back at kinder/school & the fires etc.
They still play but it's hard finding the time to join them at the moment :)
Yeah, expect the thread to go BOOM upon the movie release & continue right through the Easter school hols. LOL
I haven't really been on BB much lately. Not getting notification emails so I don't know unless I look. I don't feel I can contribute much anymore in the baby threads. So busy ALL. THE. TIME. Totally over it all.
Anyway on the lego front. DS has been a bit off the lego. The last set he started was a mega bloks tractor that he didn't quite get right but instead of asking for help, decided he didn't want to do it at all. Even since I fixed his mistake for him, he doesn't want to do it and he hasn't wanted to open his other sets yet either. He did get a reward that was a batmobile. He wanted to make that but we didn't have time to do the whole thing. Before he could finish it, he had the mother of all tantrums. So I told him if he didn't stop, batmobile was going away until he earnt his next reward. He has 7 stars to go to get his next reward :/. He keeps asking for that one too. I think school is playing havoc on him physically and emotionally atm. That tantrum happened last thursday but since then he's only earnt 2 stars. He can earn 2 a day if he does what we need him to do - get ready to go to school and get ready for bed. I really think 5 is too young for full time school. He's doing great with the work but it's too much too soon IMO.
Can't wait for the lego movie!

Won't be doing the cinema thing for the movie this time round. So much pain with my ears. Not risking it. Stupid LURGY!
Have been to lego shop today and arranged loot bag gifts - and forgot the main thing we want to grab for dd's present!
Seems like everyone is going to see the movie! Heaps of people are posting about it on FB.
Remember how I posted about a missing piece in one of DS's sets? It was replaced by Lego. And guess what?! Despite searching high & low, I didn't find it anywhere. Today, I found that exact piece in the kids toy box! I can only imagine DD got a hold of it and "hid" it.
DD was due to go see the movie last Sunday with my brother, but she bottled it, she had seen a poster with Lego Batman and thought it looked scary - we had already bought the tickets so DS went instead - he is a bit young really but seemed to enjoy it - he didn't like the tunnel, likes the black one not batman, and the pink one - whatever that all means!
DD won't go see Frozen either - she thinks is too scary (DH showed her the trailer).
We have just been to the Inside the Brick studio in Melbourne. (A Lego shop with a Lego studio area out the back) the kids loved it as did I. Impressive selection of Duplo for the little ones plus the big foam Lego. So lovely to see the kids and adults of all ages busy building various things from the normal Lego, and how I love the sound of hands rummaging through massive tubs of Lego. They had various sets and constructions on display (some from the exhibition) as well as books to use.
They are advertising for people to work there, I am seriously considering it, wouldn't be much money but I think alot of job satisfaction :-)
When I was little I loved sorting Lego, and my fingers were itching to sort their tubs out :-)
