Has anyone had their recon done yet? We had our tax done weeks ago and it's showing online that it's been given to centrelink but I'm yet to get anything from them to say if I get something back or if I owe :(

I haven't went to ATO on 15th, other years am sure has been quicker. I am fairly sure I won't owe or if any will be covered by tax am due back but am never comfortable until get confirmation.
I got my tax refund and ftb rec back the same day. I lodged my return, dh's return and applied online for ftb all on the same day. We don't get fortnightly payments. I haven't got ccb/ccr rec yet. Dh's tax bill came the day before my refund lol.
Yes ours is done and has been paid.
Can someone tell me how you actually do the recon?
I received a few months payments but then Dh got a redundancy payment and I got the payments stopped.
We have done our tax returns and DHs income was over 150k cos of the redundancy, so I presume I will have to pay the FTB payments back, but do I have to contact Centrelink or do they automatically notify me?
Am I ment to do soemthing? I thought once tax was done that was it
Do you get fortnightly payments? I found out last year that if you don't get fortnightly payments then you have to apply. It's an online form and pretty easy to do.
I think that if you are expecting a tax refund they will use that to pay back a debt. I'm not 100% sure though.
Yep I get fn payments.
My return was eaten by a tax debt I had last year after a debacle with my late mums estate that I hadn't paid yet.
Presume the ccr stuff is all done at the same time
CCR is done at same time, but they hold back 15% during the year to try and reduce overpayment and I always forget that and then if I have owed on CCB or FTBA that 15% is used first, and then tax. Saffy I have always been contacted when have had a debt (I had one one year also due to redundancy).
If you have any debt it will say in the app .i use the app for everything I find it really handy :)
I could add in that I didn't have to do a tax return , check all my letters and it tells me when my payments will be on and how much .
if you have a tax debt, your ftb reconcilliation result can be used by the ATO to repay some or all of the debt. you will receive a letter with the outcome. it generally takes a short ish period of time (a few days turnaround) but if you have a debt with ATO or FAO, there is a process that transfers credit with one department to cover debt with the other - and it can take up to 4 weeks for an outcome.
Thanks BG.
This years refund paid the debt so all good.
I also love the app - but for the tax year just finished, it won't show if you have a debt until the recon is done (as it doesn't know you have a debt until it has reconciled what you were given fortnightly based on your estimates, against your final income), I would give it another two weeks before getting concerned BD.
BD - my tax refund appeared in my account today - it was exactly what ATO said would be so I assume that meant I didn't have to pay anything back to Centrelink.
My assumption was wrong I can see have a debt even after the ccr 15% has been used up,
:-( , I can't understand how is so large seeing as I have updated income estimate throughout the year. Do they ever make mistakes I wonder?
Yes they do. Get it looked into. I got mine too.
Seems they are asking for all CCB received back - but we weren't over the upper income limit. Anyone know if there is any other reason why may have me now set as a 0% rate?
Get it looked at - if income was under limit there has to be something else. Perhaps immunisation or something?
I will do thanks BG, Immunisation both fine, according to my calc I should pay some back but about 1200 less than being asked for. On one statement from childcare against CJ from March onwards as part of the CCB calculation it is using 85 - only for CJ - the only thing that 85 could come from is they use 85% of CCB rates for a school age child ???? Seeing as she is after the cut-off in VIC surely she is not classed as school age??
Can you check school status online?
The app says "not attending school" (says same for DS) - so assume that is correct. I have asked childcare where it comes from.
Ok. I have looked. You can check from your profile. If dd is listed as school aged it will make a difference to Ccb. You can call up and get it fixed
Eta. Seen your reply. Very odd!
I was hoping once I logged in on my desktop I would see more info - but there is a heading saying "Why you owe" or equivalent and it is just blank. Maybe it will get updated soon as the debt only appeared today.
The 85% was incorrect - but only impacts this financial year - doing my calculations again with last year not this year thresholds looks like the amount I owe is correct - boo - but hooray because I am due some money back from childcare for the past 6 weeks where somehow they were using the 85% of CCB rate.
Man the system is confusing, if last year hadn't worked out as a debt - not sure if I would have found the problems with this year!
