Re: Babies Born ~ July 2013 #2
peeks - that's exactly where ds has bitten dh too... so snuggly & content, just makes you want to chomp.. ; )
-
Re: Babies Born ~ July 2013 #2
Subbing. Hows everyone going?
We are great here :) Sickness has left the building finally! But DD spewed overnight the other night. I went in to check before I went to bed and she was laying in a pool of vomit :( asleep! Cleaned her up changed everything and then she spewed again. So changed everything once again and no more spews after that thank goodness.
-
Re: Babies Born ~ July 2013 #2
poor dd, tasha. how odd that she didn't wake herself up spewing. glad she seems well now. Xx
-
Re: Babies Born ~ July 2013 #2
Andie I think she did cos I heard her cry for a few seconds and went in to check (about 9pm), but she was asleep so thought it was a night terror or something. I never turn the lights on so I didn't see the spew. It wasn't until I went to bed when I noticed her room smelt funny :(
How is your ds? Is he still waking a lot?
-
Re: Babies Born ~ July 2013 #2
tasha - ds is doing well atm, sleeping overnight until around 5-6am, quick bf & sometimes goes back down until 7am. sometimes he just lays with me, playing with my eyelashes, eyes, hair, nose etc. until I've nearly given up on any more sleep, then he drifts off again. ; )
-
Re: Babies Born ~ July 2013 #2
That's good Andie, hope he keeps it up :)
-
Re: Babies Born ~ July 2013 #2
had ds's immunisations this week, all good & he stopped crying before we came out of the nurses room. I was shocked bc usually he's a bit on the sensitive side with pain... like his mummy. ; ) the only reaction he seems to have had from them is a 2.5 hour morning nap the day after - win!
-
Re: Babies Born ~ July 2013 #2
anyone's little one deciding that they don't like to eat anything?? usually ds eats everything, curries, soups, casseroles - anything we eat. he keeps spitting it out & flapping it around. even chicken soup, which is his favourite. he's gone off yoghurt. odd. I think he's teething a bit, but has been for quite a while. he's sick atm too (cold) which isn't helping. he really doesn't have the fat reserves to suddenly become a picky eater. :-/
-
Re: Babies Born ~ July 2013 #2
Andie, glad the immunisations went well :) I was told by my mchn that they generally slow right down on the food around now because growth has slowed now. My dd ate heaps up until a few weeks ago and has slowed down a bit. If he's not eating anything it is probably teething, just give him more milk. Are you using a sippy cup? And do you give any cows milk? I'm unsure what the go is when still breastfeeding, do you still give cows milk too???? Because it will help fill his belly up :)
-
Re: Babies Born ~ July 2013 #2
Good points. He's been squeezing in another bf atm, getting up at 4am to have one, then another at around 7am. I can sometimes just go straight in to breakfast with the 7am one though. Haven't been giving cows milk regularly yet. He's had a couple of sippy cups here and there. I think you don't need to give cows milk if you're bf'ing up to 3-4 times still & they're eating well... plenty of good nutrients etc. I should really read up in that again now... now that he's not eating that well, not even yoghurt. :-/
-
Re: Babies Born ~ July 2013 #2
Andie, hows the eating going?
We have a few words here. Mum and dad were first ages ago, but the first proper word was shoes. Now it's dog, cat, keys and cheese. She said them pretty much all in one day. And now she just says them often, wierd, like she was saving it up. Took her first 2 steps a couple of days ago too. Hopefully she'll be walking by summer so I can have her in dresses without crawling everywhere.
How is everyone else? Walking? talking?
-
Re: Babies Born ~ July 2013 #2
All good here. Jack has been walking since middle of August. Its sooo much better. Everyone says its more work as they are faster but I love him being outside and walking and not crawling in the dirt. Not many words here. Mum, dad, hi, hi ya, bub. He often walks up to me though and starts babbling the same thing over and over again. I just cant work out what he is saying lol. I find he is happiest when busy. When he is bored he starts getting naughty so we keep him busy. Daycare is great for him. He loves brushing his teeth. He knows his nose, hair, ears, teeth. Such a cutie.
-
Re: Babies Born ~ July 2013 #2
tasha - eating is going much better after a 2 week hiatus. must have been his cold & teething bc one day he just started eating again, even yoghurt. odd! although last night he refused dinner, but he was a bit warm & I think his teeth were hurting again. he's finally got a new one, bottom left. he has 7 now.
vic - ds is exactly the same, gets up to mischief when he's bored. it's quite funny, in an 'arghhhh - stop touching the power points!!!!' for the 100th time kind of way... ; )
sleep is still our only complaint here, arvo naps are not happening that often but he just doesn't cope with just 1 nap yet. I've found he doesn't mind having a nap in the pram if I'm out, so that's been great bc we can go to the park, have lunch & walk around. he'll either have a rest or fall asleep, which means I walk around for 40 mins, but it's exercise & makes the evenings a whole lot more enjoyable. and the weather has been so nice, it's good to be out in the sunshine.
-
Re: Babies Born ~ July 2013 #2
Hi ladies, hope you are all well :)
Andie, seems we are having eating issues here too, except I'm pretty sure it's just attitude and not teething. She refuses to eat anything but sweet things. Vanilla yoghurt and sultanas. The only sandwiches she will eat are jam, nothing else. This has been happening for a couple of weeks now. All the food i prepare she just throws on the floor. Takes one look at it and then cracks it and throws it on the floor. I've tried everything, she just won't eat it. it's really getting on my nerves as I don't generally give her sugary things so she doesn't eat much now.
I didn't think food refusal from vegies and healthy stuff came until later on :(
-
Re: Babies Born ~ July 2013 #2
tasha, it's frustrating, isn't it? I think they are going to refuse food on & off for years to come. she will start eating again, I know it doesn't feel like it right now. I don't know how you feel about te potential mess, but you could let he play with some food with some pots & pans? if I need 10 minutes to do dinner, I'll chuck some sultanas, rice bubbles, apple etc in to a bowl/saucepan & give ds a wooden spoon & he plays for a while. you could try some healthy food in there? see if she takes the bait?!
-
Re: Babies Born ~ July 2013 #2
Thanks Andie, she's eating a bit more now. I am finding if I give her stuff to walk/crawl around with she there is more of a chance she will eat it lol.
-
Re: Babies Born ~ July 2013 #2
It's another one of those things I swore I would never do - let ds walk around with food! But around 10 months he went through a no eating phase & I found if I left his sandwich on the floor in little pieces - he would eat it bc he thought he was being cheeky...! Thankfully I don't have to do that now. ;-)

Re: Babies Born ~ July 2013 #2
Hi Girls
Life sure is fast paced these days. It makes me wonder what I did before Jack came along. DH and I keep saying we are in this rut of work, eat, play with Jack, sleep and do it all over again each day.
I am really loving this age. He just seems to get better and better. So much personality and such a loving little boy. He is cruising at daycare and loves being home with me Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. I feel he has the best of both worlds. He has made some really cute friends and is happy each morning when I wave goodbye.
Jack loves puzzles and using his mind. He will sit for ages stacking things and putting the shapes into the tupperware ball. He is not an overly physical child. He can walk and is certainly mobile but things like ridding his bike has not happened yet. Not forwards anyway. I have friends kids who are cruising on their bikes at his age but he is content to drag it around or go backwards :) He always gets there in the end. So I am certainly not worried. He is almost starting to run. He has always been a bit slow to use his gross motor skills, but I love it as he seemed a baby a bit longer. I can tell him to go get his blue blankey out of his cot and bring it to me and he will. He can pull his highchair over to the table and set it up when I ask him to. If there is a ball and a book and cars on his bedroom floor I can ask him for the ball and he will bring it to me.
His eating is going well. He does watch Bubble Guppies on the tablet when he eats but I am not fussed as long as he eats. He feeds himself vegies with his spoon most nights and then eats his finger foods and finishes of with desert. We are almost cutting out the bottles. He only has about 60ml three times a day. Sometimes he doesn't even have the middle bottle. He loves one first thing in the morning and when he is going to bed a night. I have had to buy the bigger size nappies for night times as he was soaking through and waking up around 5am. Now he is sleeping till around 7.30am sometimes 8.15am and i have to wake him for daycare. Jack has one sleep a day now. Down at 1.00pm and I wake him at 3.30pm if he has not woken himself.
Still only 6 teeth but I think another 2 are on their way. I have started Christmas shopping for him. So much fun :) I am really looking forward to this Christmas. Last year was fun but this year will be great!
How is everyone else going? What are your babies up to???

Re: Babies Born ~ July 2013 #2
jack sounds like a mellow little thing, vic. you sound like you have a lot of fun together. :)
ds is going well also, just one nap a day too. overnights he is mostly doing 6.30-7pm-4.30-5.30am. he will come in our bed for another hour or so if we are lucky, especially if its more like a 4.30am wakeup. today he only napped from 10-11am, all day... so he crashed at 5.30pm. he's eating well, just not a fan of dairy still. im not pushing him, I figure his body knows best. still bfÃ*ng, just 1-2 times a day now. for the past few days he's skipped his morning one bf... just wanted to get up & go! im hoping he'll wean himself over the next month as I will be doing ivf in jan & I need to take meds, which means no bfÃ*ng. or that ill magically get pregnant naturally & he can continue if he wants.
he is quite active little, doesn't stay still for very long. he is climbing a lot atm, on top of large plastic containers & standing up & grinning. gives me a slight heart attack. on our walks he loves pointing out all the rubbish bins, bikes, buses, dogs, cats & rubbish bins. did I mention rubbish bins??! he is obsessed. he also loves to collect rubbish at the park & put it in the bin. or just play with the pram, pull my bag & its contents out etc. I have to scoop him up & take him to the equipment myself to get him to actually play! he loves water, squeals when he gets to play with the tap, hose etc. he loves hiding & chasing atm which is hilarious. he has 8 teeth now, 4 top, 4 bottom.
it does feel a little bit like groundhog day sometimes, but usually its when we haven't made plans/not socialising enough. we have a bit of a weekly plan now so I know what im up for each week. before then we would just wing it, potter around & make last minute plans. I guess if im lucky & manage to get pregnant again I wont have time to get bored...? ;)

Re: Babies Born ~ July 2013 #2
Gosh I'd almost forgotten about this thread!
Vic, Dd has only just been confidently walking around everywhere for the past 2-3 weeks. And she certainly wouldn't be riding a bike at this stage. Well one with pedals anyway! Actually I don't think many bubs I know are at this age. We also let dd eat in the lounge room so she can see the tv. But I don't think she really cares if it's on or off anyway, I suspect a lot of parents do! Once you stop all bottles he might not wet through the nappies, this happened for us. Does he have sippy cups with meals too? Sounds like Jack is doing fantastically :)
Andie, haha bin obsessed! It's so nice when they recognize all the different things out and about. Ivf in Jan? exciting for you. You could try expressing into a cup to wean. Then just dilute it with cows milk (or whatever milk you are using) I diluted all dd cows milk after bottles were finished. That way hopefully he won't even notice! FX you just fall naturally though, I know the struggle. I am not sure if we will have another at this stage. And my cycles have gone from 60-100+ days to every month now. So I suspect it wouldn't take 3 years this time. Just my luck hey.
Everything is going well here :) Still working 3 days, 4 as of next week till xmas. DD is finally walking confidently! I bought her first pair of shoes the other day. She doesn't crawl at all anymore, just walks, it's sooo cute. She is saying so many words, must be about 15 different words now. She tells the dog to 'shoosh!" when he barks hahaha. Still sleeping like a log day and night. 7:45 bed time 7:30-8 wake up. She has one day nap down at 12 and wakes at 3pm. Still trying to sort out having a life and getting her that nap, it's hard. And if I wake her she is very very grumpy. And if she only has small naps she is also grumpy! lol. So if I'm hanging local I get everything done in the morning and get her in bed at home. 12 teeth, molars are fully through and I suspect her canines are about to cut through, overall been pretty good with the teething though. Just seen the time and i gotta go!! Hope you are all well :)

Re: Babies Born ~ July 2013 #2
Andie your little one sounds like such a cutie. Good luck with your January cycle. I will be stalking :)
Jack has proving to be quite challenging these last two weeks. A perfect angel at day care but cracks it the minute he walks in the door at home. He is being fussy, starting to throw temper tantrums, quite teary and very clingy. We are currently in leap 10 and its 31 days till we come out of it and I am sure feeling this one. Some days I wonder where my sweet little boy went :( He gets frustrated quickly and picks up thing just to throw them down. He has two new teeth and has felt them both coming in. He was awake from 5am this morning rolling around and come 6am i (stupidly) went in to put his dummy back in as I could see he was looking for it and decided that he was getting up. He has mostly been sleeping till 7am - 7.30am so he was not ready to get up. Consequently he got up and grizzled and sooked until 7.30am when I decided enough was enough and gave him a warm bottle and put him back to bed. He went straight back to sleep. Great, except today is work/ daycare day. Lucky DH can rearrange his day and stay home with him till he wakes up and then take him to daycare.
So far my patience has held out. DH has been a bit frustrated with him, but I just tell him to walk away and I will deal with him. I find if I put a smile on my face and get him laughing it can switch the whole household mood. I always thought to myself that the terrible 2's start from 18 months. I think its earlier in our house hold.
He is still very precious and I know its just a stage so we just have to ride it out.
-
Re: Babies Born ~ July 2013 #2
Vic, we are having the same problem here, have been for a while. The minute I put her in the car from daycare she will crack it. Not every night, but at least once a week. She will sook and sook all night till bed some days. So your definitely not alone there x
-
Re: Babies Born ~ July 2013 #2
looks like we can join the fussy, temper tantrum club too. not sure what's going on atm but I hope it passes soon! ds is getting frustrated very easily, is tired but wont nap, was awake from 2.30-4am this morning... urghhh... must be teeth, or a leap or something?! he also has decided he doesn't like being in his pram, but when I get him out to walk he will just start pulling stuff out of the pram (nappy bag contents, food shopping etc) in the middle of the street... or want me to carry him. so I end up carrying him and pushing the pram. I always wondered why I saw mothers doing this...! ;)
fingers crossed for a decent sleep tonight. mumma needs it big time. hope your little ones are past their grumpy phase now. xx
-
Re: Babies Born ~ July 2013 #2
hi ladies, how's everyone?
we are well here, teething still though. keeps waking somewhere around 3-5am and stays awake for 1-1.5 hours, not crying just awake in our bed. he is now having 2-2.5 hr nap in the day though - never thought i would see the day. he has been doing this for past 4 days. amazing. his babbling has picked up a bit more over past few days so maybe some words will pop out soon. he has a few, but only mum would understand what he's saying. ;)
you may have read in another thread that i am pregnant again, very early days still but hopefully it will work out ok. if it does, it will mean there's no pressure to wean ds by january (for ivf), which is something i was a bit apprehensive about. although i must admit, im not sure about bfÃ*ng and being pregnant... hoping he weans himself over the next month or two. hope everyone going ok atm. xx
-
Re: Babies Born ~ July 2013 #2
Congratulations Andie! :) And yay for no IVF! It must be such a relief, how far along are you? Well done to your little guy having a big arvo nap too. I have no advice on the weaning sorry as I weaned to a bottle first, but hope it goes well!
Not much to report here, loving the walking. It's so much easier when they walk! She's got it down pat after a couple of weeks. They pick it up so fast! First canine tooth has erupted and thank goodness! We have had non stop drool and irritability for almost 2 weeks now, but it seems to be easing. Still having issues with throwing food on the floor, but IL's are getting her a table and chairs for xmas. She seems to like eating at a table better than the high chair.
-
Re: Babies Born ~ July 2013 #2
thanks, Tasha. I know its odd, but I wouldn't have minded doing ivf in jan... I have an embryo ready to go & now im wondering what will happen to it... whether I will really go back for a 3rd so I can use it?! guess ill just see how this one pans out first. :)
chair & table sounds like a good idea. ds had a turn in a kids camping chair a couple of weekends ago... he loved it, thought he was pretty clever getting in/out/in/out etc. ;)
-
Re: Babies Born ~ July 2013 #2
Congrats again Andie. How lovely not to have to go through IVF in January. Such a blessing.
Jack has a little table and chairs and has decided he is over the high chair and will just throw food off it but it happy enough to feed himself at his table. It takes a while but he gets there in the end. The last two nights he has gone to bed with no bottle so it looks like we are weaned fully from bottles. Yay. He has milk in a sippy cup with his food. He was down to a night time bottle only and its so nice not to have to wash a bottle. Also he seems to have stopped drooling. Jack has worn bibs constantly from birth and for the last week has managed to go bib free and not end up soaked. So thats another lovely plus. I feel like my little bubba in now a big little boy. As for teeth we have 4 on top, 3 on the bottom and one bottom molar on the right hand side and one upper molar on the right hand side. He was slow to get teeth.
His speech is coming on slowly. We have an appointment with a speech pathologist in January to get assessed and to see how I can help him further. He babbles endlessly and can say about 8 words but they are not consistent so just want to get him assessed. He rarely says mum, only when he cries it. Muuuuuuuummmmmmm.
All in all he is happy, healthy (at the moment) and growing into a very independent little boy. He is still such a blessing.

Re: Babies Born ~ July 2013 #2
Congratulations Peeks on your new little Princess. It sounded like a scary birth. I really hope she is now home with you and your family.
-
Re: Babies Born ~ July 2013 #2
Just a quick one from me - congrats Andie!! How exciting :) Wishing you all the best for a smooth pregnancy.
Thanks Vic :) My princess arrived last week, just over 4 weeks early. She's still in the special care nursery, but hoping they will discharge her tomorrow (if she's gained weight).
-
Re: Babies Born ~ July 2013 #2
I must've missed your birth somehow peeks, congratulations! Doesn't sound like things went as smoothly as you'd hoped. Fingers crossed your little one comes home soon & you can all start relaxing in to your new family. Xx
-
Re: Babies Born ~ July 2013 #2
Congratulations Peeks! :) Hope you get her home soon :)
-
Re: Babies Born ~ July 2013 #2
Thanks :)
I hope you all had a lovely Christmas! Best Christmas present here was having Ruby home - she came home on day 8. She's 3 weeks old today and doing really well :) How did all the little ones enjoy Christmas? Emily really got into unwrapping her presents this year!
-
Re: Babies Born ~ July 2013 #2
glad to hear ruby is doing so well, peeks. :-)
Christmas was more fun this year, took a few presents for ds to get in to it but he was a pro by the end. We didn't get him much bc I knew he'd end up with too much from family/friends (which he did!). He got a trike thingy this year, with a handle at the back for mum or dad to push him around in. He loved it until he saw his little cousins which was pink, then he wanted hers! We had a lovely time at the beach yesterday, he loves the water. :-)
-
Re: Babies Born ~ July 2013 #2
Merry belated xmas ladies. It sounds like all the bubbas had a great day. Jack was spoilt but it was all things he will use and play with for years to come. We put a fence up in our front yard as our backyard has no grass and our vehicles drive out the back so we got lots of things for Jack to play with in the yard. He also got an Ikea kitchen and he loves it.
The day was lovely and Jack was so well behaved. He loves to be social. We too him to the local pool yesterday and he didnt love it. He doesn't really like the beach either. It will be interesting next year as we are going to Bali next year so I think we need a lot more trips to the beach and the pool.
-
Re: Babies Born ~ July 2013 #2
Emily isn't overly keen on the water either. We went to a water park with sprinklers and spraying water etc, but she only cried! Admittedly it was back in November so wasn't as hot then. Last summer she went in the pool at my Dad's house a few times, but this year she is happy to just run around the back yard and chase the dog while the boys have a swim. We don't go to the beach, maybe once a year. I can't stand the sand!!!
How are you feeling, Andie? What is your EDD?
vic, nice to hear the kitchen was a hit - it's on our list for Emily's 2nd birthday :)
-
Re: Babies Born ~ July 2013 #2
Merry Christmas and happy new year! :) Hope everyone enjoyed the break.
Yes, we have way too much stuff in our tiny home now! Dd's pink electric quad bike is her fave, she flicks the switch and revs the pedal while standing up on it, it's hilarious  We went to the local pool yesterday and put her in her floaty in the big pool with us. She loves the water, but have only been to the beach once. Not a fan of no trees and sand everywhere. Need to get a proper floaty vest too.
Has anyone started toilet training yet? My mum says me and my brother were trained at 2 yrs old. I'm not sure I can see that happening. She will sometimes tell me 'pooooohs' while waving her nose which I used ti always say. But not very often. What do you do?
-
Re: Babies Born ~ July 2013 #2
I will be leaving the toilet training until spring. I have noticed the boys in our family take a bit longer to train than the girks so we wont be rushing into it. I would rather wait a few months and make it a painless journey for us both. I am not looking forward to it. The next thing on our list will be a big bed for his birthday. I am looking forward to designing a big boy room for him.
I just went and bought Jack some summer pj's as his ones from last summer obviously dont fit lol. I ended up with a size 2 and shopping in the boy section. It felt so weird not to be in the baby section. Sigh...where did my bubba go....
-
Re: Babies Born ~ July 2013 #2
Hah Vic, yes we are now shopping in the girls section instead of the baby. And I am sad that she is moving into the next room ad daycare :( She absolutely adores one of the workers in her room, says her name all the way there. It will be so sad!
-
Re: Babies Born ~ July 2013 #2
Jack doesn't go up until his birthday. I love the girls he has now too but the girls in the toddler room all used to be in the nursery so they know him and are lovely girls. Jack will start transition a few months before his birthday. I said to the girls it will be interesting when he goes from his cot to a pallet bed. I thought they would all mess around but she said they are all good and go straight to sleep. She said that Jack is a good sleeper so should not be any trouble. Better them than me lol. The toddler room and the kindy room do a lot together and share play areas. I think he will love it. They have a lot of tiny babies in the nursery at the moment and a few of the kids older than him have already started transition. So he is one of the older bubbbas. He gets to do jobs with them which he loves. Since he has been there since 18 weeks they all feel like he is part of the furniture lol.
