So depressed...
will i ever get a BFP?
i feel so frustrated - i just feel i will never get a BFP! (my attitude is pessimistic I know, which is not helping my cause). with my average 40 - 43 day cycle i feel i'm abnormal..we have been TTC for 12 mths - but I've only been charting for two months or so - so it's all really hit and miss at the moment. my bbt's are all different as i'm a shift worker - and there is no consistency with anything....
has anyone got any uplifting stories of being in a similar situation and getting a BFP??
-
Leesa, I don't have any stories for you, but just wanted to pop in and let you know that I hope you get your BFP very very soon hun!

26 months for me last time Leesa & I now have the most gorgeous 21 month old little man :D This time round we're about to hit 12 months so I totally know where you're at. You will get there eventually, but in the meantime it's tough huh?! So are you getting the "relax and it will happen" lines yet? Maaaan does that drive me nutso!!
Hopefully it will happen for you soon, but while you're waiting come & join us crazies in the 6month + buddy thread. We'll keep you sane, or maybe send you just as crazy as were are LOL, but at least it's someone to stress with ;)
-
 Leesa it didnt take me as long as you have been waiting (7mths) but it wasnt until i started temping that anything happened for us but our angel baby wasnt meant to be.. I would continue along with temping just make sure you can get some consistency with them ie make sure you have had 3 hrs sleep... :crossfingers: for a :bfp: very very soon...
-
thanks girls...my job doesnt help with the relaxing though (i'm a police officer - don't hold it against me) - in fact its a major cause of stress at the moment...i'm trying to get myself off of 'the road' and into the office. that will decrease stress majorly...

leesa - with our 1st ,little girl ,just happened really really easy, we really wanted a baby but wasn't really trying, just lucky. 2nd time round started to try 6 months after having zara and nothing for over 12 months. was charting, mucus etc...but still nothing. went to my doctor and was told to send in hubby, just average sperm count (not low, but not high either), was then sent to IVF, found out i had mild polycystic ovaries as well , docter told me he was glad we didn't wait because most people wait too long (he said if you don't conceive in 12 months you should look further into it without waiting), had an examination and was given CLOMID for regulate my eggs and told hubby to get onto some vitamins, within 3 weeks i was pregnant (my little man is now 11 months old) and we are about to start trying for #3, but the good thing about going to the IVF was i had all the right tests and so did hubby, it cost around $500 plus medication. also i found out i had cervical dyplasia CIN 3 and have only recently had surgery as it had grown quite a bit so really my little man quite possibly could have saved my life.
really try to relax, oh yes the doc told us it was good to get those little swimmers in as far as you can, TMI sorry. it will happen, my doctor told me just how lucky i am to have 2 kids. i was 28 when i when to the ivf. take care of yourself and try not to focus too much on it everytime i got my period i was truly devastated. sending you lots of baby thoughts...take care

Hi leesa,
It took us about 15 months to conceive our DD and we are now about 15 months in to TTC #2. The first 6 months TTC DD I had no period at all and only had a 'normal' length cycle (30 days) the month before I 'fell' with DD.
As you can see below my cycles are still 'all over the shop'. We don't temp, but have recently bought some ovulation tests and pre-seed.
Maybe you could treat yourself to a massage, reflexology and/or accupuncture now and again for some stress relief?
Good luck

You girls are so full of information....thank you so much, i need all the leads and info I can get...
What is Clomid? (I assume its a special medication?)
Hey Narelle, you mentioned that hubby was also given some vitamins to take? What is the name and brand of them? (H2B wants to do all he can to help - other than just BDing all the time :-)....
I might also set the alarm clock at a time I can wake up every morning just to take my temp consistently. I have ordered a BBT thermometer and OPKs - but at the moment I only have a standard type thermometer..
-
hey lees,
i just so know how you feel- i concieved on clomid i have PCOS and it is a drug that you take for 5 days when you get AF and then what it does is make you ovulate. so thenyou concieve it worked for me but it's not for everyone
-
thanks Princess!
Is clomid something the local GP can perscribe - or do you have to get referred to a specialist? (if a specialist - is a gyno the go?)...
-
Only gyno or FS cause i was also on metformin and had pyscho cycles 71, 43,30 days ugh!! i also had a HSG to confirm no blockages etc.
it's bad when everyone around you is falling preggo at teh drop of a hat ( or it feels like it)

 I hope you get your BFP soon. If you've been trying for 12 months you could go and see your Dr who will be able to do some tests which might help you figure out if therre is an underlying issue.
As for stories - I have one that one of my Mum's friends told me. In the 70's (when they didn't have the same conception technology they do now) her and her husband were told that they had only a 1 in 1000 chance of getting pregnant. They were very disappointed but in those days you just had to live with it. 3 years later she got a BFP!! Then 5 years after that she had another baby and again in her mid 40's she had one more. She told me it's funny how often 1000 times comes around lol.

Good luck Leesa with everything.. My dad is a police officer too so i know what the shift work and stress is like... I have my :crossfingers: for news of a :bfp: very very very soon....

Hey Leesa - we were trying seriously for a good 12 months or so and had been off contraception for 3 years - I didn't chart or do the temps or anything like that because I didn't really understand or know anything about it - it is possible that getting into that side of things will help speed things up - I think you are definitley in the right place to get info and chat with people who know what they are talking about.
I think you should get excited because you are on the right path - there are so many different thing to try and here is where you are going to find out about them - :happyforyou: look at it this way if you don't get a BFP you only have to wait a little while to try again - imagine if we only ovulated once a year!!!!
I eventually got pregnant I think because I lost some weight and I started to be really positive about life - there's a lot to be said about the right frame of mind - but I bet you're sick of hearing that one!!
I hope it all goes well for you and I send some :bluedust: your way!!

Hi Leesa,
Come and join us in the 6 month plus thread as Sarah said. Its great to vent and release everything your feeling as all the other people there truley understand what its like on the emotional TTC rollercoaster. I think its the one place where I can find my 100% true empthay for what im feeling and is happening.
We have been TTCing since Feb, god I have to say this, since last year. Phew, that was hard to say. Although there have been times when you dont DTD at the right time but still by now thought we would be there.
GP has told us we are still in the "normal" time of TTC as my cycles are around 31-40 days in length and the amount of times we have had a good chance of conception. DH has begun some testing and im starting too this year.
AHH, and slap the next person who says relax it will happen! ROFL It doesnt make it any easier.

Hi Leesa, I just wanted to pop in and share a story with you. While I was home in Adelaide over Christmas, I caught up with a really dear old friend who has been TTC for around 4 years. They had tried all sorts of things (including increasingly medicalised interventions), and were starting to loose hope. However she is now halfway through a healthy pregnancy, and the thing she did different the cycle they conceived was to go to an acupuncturist/herbalist therapist who specialises in fertility issues.
I will email her and get the therapist's name for you as I see you are also in Adelaide.
HTH

Leesa, I'll add my invitation to come and join us in the 6+ months buddy thread. They are such wonderful, wonderful women there, and we do know exactly how you feel. The support that we have given each other is sometimes the only thing that helps keep me sane!
My situation is a little bit different to most... my TTC journey has been very rocky, even though it's only been 12 months long. I can honestly say that seeking help sooner rather than later is the way to go.

Hi Leesa,
Just wanted to pop my head in to say that you are definitely not on your own. This forum has helped me in so many ways and hope it will help you in listening to others stories and sharing yours.
Good luck.

hi leesa,
our ivf doctor said for my DH to start taking: 1 blackmores bio magnesium a day and 2 blackmores bio zinc a day. magnesium is for muscular problems & cramps and zinc is for healthy skin and wound healing (thats what the bottle says anyway). but for the life of me i cannot remember why! sorry
i was prescribed my clomid from the ivf doctor (even though i never had to take it), i was to take 1/2 a tablet from day 2 - 6 of my cycle a really low dose. i think clomid regulates the egg release.
have you thought about going to see a fertility specialist? its not as scary as it sounds.
take care narelle

Hi leesa,
I don't really have a story to share with you, but i wanted to add my invite to the 6 + mth budddy group. They are really friendly and very welcoming. I've just joined myself as I've been TTC for 8 mths now, so i know first hand how great the ladies in there are.
I was a bit cheeky, I went to my Dr and burst into tears on the poor woman and she gave me a referral to a FS. I'm very nervous about going because I have only been TTC for 8 mths, but I feel better for making the appt. I feel like its something i need to do as I have a friend who has been TTC for over 2 yrs now and she has only just sought help and has found out that she needs to go the IVF rout. I think i would like to know now if there is something wrong and resolve it if possible!
I hope that you get a BFP really soon!
-
Thanks Marydean - any contact like that would be fantastic!
Thank you for the invite ladies - I will go and take a look very soon....
Is there a directory of fertility specialists (I'm in Adelaide) - or is it something that you don't really have a say in and the GP refers you to the 'first cab off the rank?'
-
Leesa, I'm sure there would be a directory of fertility specialists for Adelaide - you would just need to google a bit. I found a list of IVF clinics for Sydney, and then at the website for each clinic there was info on each of the doctors. Also, ask around (even if just on here) - find out what other people think of the different specialists to try and work out which one is for you.
You certainly do have choice of which specialist you go to - although your GP may have one that they know of that they would like to refer you to, you can always say no and choose one yourself and just get them to write the referral.
Also, don't be frightened of seeing a FS that is attached to an IVF clinic. It doesn't mean you must do IVF, it's just that those doctors know the area well... I learned the hard way that getting the wrong specialist can waste an awful lot of time.

Hi again Leesa,
Lucky my friend got home from her holidays early. The acupuncturist is called Caroline Smith and she operates from the Australian Centre for Natural Health and Wellness at 2 The Parade in Norwood. She has a couple of webpages (can't post the links in here but if you google her name and acupuncture, restrict it to Australian pages only you will see she features in a number of sites and articles).
Good luck with it, I wish you all the very best (and look forward to reading your :bfp: announcement)!
:-)

thank you sooo much Marydean!
(I look forward to announcing too - crossing my fingers)...
