Warning - Tmi Alert
Hi All
I am currently CD 30 (5th clomid cycle) and on CD28 (12 DPO) in the evening I discovered a small amount of brown mucusy stuff. Thinking that AF would inevitably arrive, :cry:I used a tampon however Thursday morning AF had not started.
I continued using tampons all day thursday and thursday night however apart from some brown discharge - nothing has eventuated. I have not used anything today and there is nothing when I wipe either.
I did a hpt on CD26 (not FMU) which was 10 DPO but this was negative. Has anyone experienced this type of thing before getting a BFP or the arrival of AF? I have never experienced it before and usually when AF arrives there is no warning and is heavy from day 1.
Trying not to get my hopes up because I thought that 12DPO would be too late for implantation bleeding??
Any ideas??:dunno:
-
Hey D,
Sorry I don't specifically know what these "symptoms" could mean as there are many reasons as to why you could have dark brown discharge.
Have you felt/seen any other symptoms as yet? AF still not arrived?
Take care...
-
hi there
i've read a couple of places that implantation can be up to 12 days post ovulation - which would fit with what you've described...
fingers crossed for you!
-
My girlfriend had exactly what you describe. it was implantation. Got everything crossed for you. :)
H
-
How are you doing. Anymore news hun. I hope all is ok
-
Hi Everyone
Thankyou for your replies - unfortunately last night whilst I was at the lions vs collingwood game in Brisbane AF arrived with a vengence!!
Out of every negative comes a positive - I have made an appointment with a new FS for Friday the 8th of June - he is the clinical director of Monash IVF here on the Gold Coast and comes highly recommended. Also, if I was pregnant this time my due date would have been on my DS's birthday. So, keeping my chin up and always looking for the silver lining.
Thanks again
-
Sorry it wasn't your turn this month Deanna.
Lol at your DS having to share his birthday - a lucky escape maybe? My GF has 2 boys exactly 3 years apart and everyone always asks her if her and DH only have sex once a year.....
-
D - Very very very sorry to hear that AF arrived...but as you said there is always a new month and now a new FS too!!! Good luck sweetie. Keep your chin up :)
H - That is a very funny story. Good luck 2 u 2!!!
-
Hi D
How are you holding up? AF arrived for me this morning as predicated. I'm surprisingly not upset as I normally would be...perhaps I knew it was inevitable this month.
Take care
-
Hi Rara
Sorry to hear the dreaded AF showed up! When is your appt with FS?
I'm good - had the lightest and shortest AF ever started Saturday night and is pretty much over. Bizarre..............
Am having bloods done tomorrow to check hormone levels at different times in my cycle instead of just day 21 - apparently it is usual to have levels checked on day 1-2, 7, 14 & 21 of a cycle with unexplained infertility. This is what the person at Monash said last week when I spoke with them. I have never had them checked other that day 21. Have you?
Keep smiling and hopefully next month will be our month??:)
-
Hey,
Far out...AF showed up & left very quickly didn't she? Hopefully she will abandon you altogether next month...
I'm not seeing my FS until the 26th June...:wall: I've been inquiring through the girls in BB as to whether there is any other spec in Canberra that they might recommend that is a little easier to access!I went to see a Chinese Herbalist last Friday as I was getting quite anxious about everything and have been feeling really lethargic and depressed (details on a seperate thread). Anyway...I am now taking some disgusting herbs so hopefully I will start feeling a little better very soon.
I haven't had any BTs for about 3 months now so I can't really help you out there. Sorry girlie...
It must be so frustrating for you especially not knowing why AF is still visiting you especially after a lap has been done etc and nothing has shown up. The herbalist said that the liver can certainly have something to do with infertility. Have you had that tested also? Are you seeing anyone else other than your FS such as a Naturopath or a Chinese Herbalist? I don't know whether they could do anything for you but it is always worth giving it a trying...maybe????? :dunno:
-
Hi Rara
No, I am not seeing anyone else other than FS. I did however place an order from lullaby conceptions yesterday for 'Conceive' magazine, 20 OPK's, a new digital BBT thermometer, and some pre-seed sperm friendly lubricant. I like getting parcels in the mail! AND I joined fertility friend for 3 months VIP membership! My liver, thyroid and pituatry function are all perfectly normal, however I hear you about the feeling lethargic and depressed!!!!!!! The clomid makes me really emotional and bloated with huge BB's which is also depressing.
Now just trying to decide whether I should take the five remaining Clomid tablets this month for greater possibility of BFP?? I'm not going back to old FS for any monitoring (not that he did much anyway).
What do you think?
-
Also, the GP's in my practice do acupuncture, so I can have that anytime if this TTC goes on much longer!! Have you tried it?
-
No I haven't tried acupuncture as yet...but as I said I'm willing to try anything. You've just got to find something that works for you and sometimes the only way to do that is try almost anything. I have heard from some ppl that acupuncture has been fantastic.
I would say to continue to take the clomid just to cover all your bases but really it is very much up to you. It is so hard to make these kind of decisions isn't it? I get really confused as to what I should and shouldn't do. Though I must say that I am really happy you are going to see another fs hopefully this one will listen to what you would like to do but also give you some help/suggestions/support along the way....isn't that the way that this is meant to work??????
-
Yep, that is the way its meant to work.
Do you take clomid on day 5-9? And what monitoring do you have while you are taking it?
-
I've been taking clomid from day 2 to day 7. But I don't think it makes a difference as in the 1st month I took it from day 8 to day 13 and I ovulated (but I don't think my fs was 100% sure whether I was already ovulating without it or not).
I've just been using the ovulation kits and they seem to work fine. However this may change if I was to start doing IUI as they may not be as accurate as BT but they a hell of allot nicer!!! I've heard that the "Maybe Baby" Ovulation kits are excellent. You don't have to wee in a cup or anything as it detects ovulation through the saliva...pretty amazing isn't it???
I was also going to ask you....have you had your prolactin level tested? Mine was a little higher than the norm (only a little though so it wasn't serious) but my fs still has no idea why.
-
I was taking it day 2-7 also, I wonder if it makes any difference day 5-9. I was ovulating every month without it also maybe that's why we both took it day 2-7??
My prolactin level was 292 (normal is <500). Prolactin is produced by the pituitary gland and from my understanding is definitely related to menstruation and fertility. Do you know what the result was?
-
Just found some info in a book here that said mildly elevated prolactin can be caused by stress/trauma, exercise, nipple stimulation and sleep. Any apply??;)
-
My FS said that it was enough to show that I had ovarian cysts or something wrong with my pituatry gland. The cysts were ruled out when I had the u/s also.
Who knows.....
I'm not taking clomid this month and probably won't bother going back on it as I'm pretty sure I was already ovulating beforehand.
Hmmm......what is going on with our bodies D???? We will get to the bottom of this I'm sure of it and will have two adorable babies in our arms very soon we just have to try and remain positive and not give up!!!
-
I didn't even see your comment in regards to the prolactin levels...must have been typing ;)
Well when I first had the blood test I was fairly stressed with starting a new job etc, I excercise a little (very little...), have no idea what they mean by "nipple stimulation" and I do sleep fairly well...so I think I'm going to go with stress...maybe that is why the prolactin levels were slightly higher????
-
Hey again
Maybe with all the BDing whilst TTC there may be increased nipple stimulation?? More sleep than usual may contribute and definitely stress when starting a new job!
-
Who knows?? Perhaps if I am getting some unwanted "attention" from DH I should use the excuse "You are elevating my prolactin levels".... (its sounds better than "I've got a headache")!!
Will keep you updated as to how I go with these "herb" drinks I've been told to take...Plack :p
-
Hey D,
How are u going? You've been very quiet. Is everything ok? Hav u been to ur new fs as yet? How did that go?
It's coming up to that time again and I'm really becoming quite anxious...I'm sick of doing this I really am.
Talk soon:)
-
Hi Rara
I'm going good - officially having the month off TTC and have just returned from a nice two day break in Sydney. Off to the Sunshine Coast tomorrow for the long weekend. Bliss!!
My new FS appt is tomorrow and I'm looking forward to getting a second opinion on everything.
It has been wonderful being off the clomid this month - I definitely wouldn't have coped with this month emotionally if I had taken it. My receptionist at work has resigned and DH is in the process of buying a new business. Stressful time thats for sure.
All that said, I haven't o'd yet this month so whether I can stay off the TTC bandwagon is another thing. It is nice not having to BD so much, DH is currently refering the lack of it to 'being in a drought'.:)
Good luck to you this month, are you around O time too? Fingers crossed!!
-
Sounds a little stressful for you especially starting up a new business etc but it is good to hear that you are taking a bit of time off and having some fun at the same time. I love the sunshine coast. We are going to the blue mountains so that is going to be really nice...though still fairly cold this time of year!
I think I will be Ov early next week (Monday perhaps??)...I go to my fs in 2 1/2 weeks so am looking forward to getting the show on the road again then! Brian & I went to our GP last week and got some Cialis. She was really nice about it and totally understood. I can't believe how expensive it is though!
Glad to hear you are okay. Look after yourself & have a great weekend!
-
Hey D,
How did ur fs appointment go?
Ov is well and truly over 4 me. Now in the dreaded TWW. Got a bit of BDing in which was good though it became a little bit painful by Monday....really really hoping that my fs will allow me to have a laprascopy asap to find out the cause!
-
Hi Rara
FS appt on Friday was a little disappointing in that he suggested not bothering with any more IUI and going straight to IVF. I spent over an hour with him and he was very thorough in his explanation of 'unexplained infertility'. One thing he said could be a contributing factor for me was tubes that were not necessarily blocked but had very fine adhesions that would let fluid (dye) flow through but would block the passage of sperm and even if sperm managed to get through a fertilised egg wouldn't make it back down. He also questioned why I didn't have a hysteroscopy performed last year when I had the lap and dye studies?? Mentioned possbility of uterine adhesions, fibroids causing implantation issues. He wants us to start completely over with all our tests repeated, some of which I have never had done like pelvic ultrasound and DH SA redone and day 2-5 fertility hormones for me.
I am still thinking about it all, luckily this month I have had other things to distract me so I haven't dwelled on it too much.
I just read your other post re painful BD'ing, sometimes I get that too and it has been explained to me (if all other possiblities are ruled out) as around o time the cervix and ovaries are more sensitive because of swelling and position of cervix. Also, increased BDing can just be like exertion of any other muscle and pain can be experienced during and after.
My fingers are SOOOOOOOOO crossed for you this month, hope the TWW passess in a flash!
-
Thanx sweetie...
Did you manage to hold on to your non TTC status this month? I would love to have the strength to be able to do that but every time ov time comes around I always cave.
How frustrating to have to go through all of that again! Perhaps IVF would just be the easiest and less stressful way for you if they just aren't able to find the cause. It's a very big step however and a little expensive, though it would be so worth it in the end!
That's interesting in regards to BDing...and comforting at the same time as it gives me a little more hope for this month..
I will let you know how I'm going later in the week.
Take care
-
Hey D,
Just popping in for my weekly check up. How are u? I'm feeling okay. No different but not anxious or stressed so that's a relief.
Hope u are ok :D
-
Hey D,
Beginning to feel worried about you. I hope you are ok. I won't bother you any more after this thread but just thought I would send you a msg to let you know that I'm still thinking of you.
Is everything going well with the new business? Are you going to TTC this month again? Have you decided what you are going to do re: IVF?
Take care D
-
Hey Rara
Sorry I have been MIA for so long - I have been absolutely flat out training two new receptionists at work as well as DH's new business which has taken up all our evenings and weekends for the last month!! Everything beginning to settle down though, except for a quick trip to Sydney this Saturday. :-)
I have not been actively TTC this last two cycles, I wouldn't mind if it happened but I have stopped temping and looking for fertile signs and just gone with the flow. Hasn't resulted in preg which is OK. DH and I decided to let it go for a couple of months while we get the rest of our lives sorted and then MAYBE consider IVF or third IUI???
So sorry I took so long to get back here - amazing how priorities shift so fast hey!
Hope all is well with you???
D

Hello!!!
No worries matie...was just worried about you. I'm having a lap in about 2 1/2 weeks. DH & I haven't been TTCing this month and we don't mind too much either. Though I am very aware when I did O etc. Starting up a new business can be very hectic but I am pleased that you have a distraction from TTCing for a while. It gives u a break.
If you want to chat just go into my TTC journal as I don't tend to come in here very often anymore.
Take care sweets xxoo
