I made a separate album for my crafty stuff here and I'll add to it as I go along. I really need to get a photo of the frog long stitch I made for my mum to upload.
I don't think I have a crafty bone in my body or the time :( Would love to... but I just worry about the $$$ involved too... is craft costly?

depends on what sort of craft you get into Cailin! i have packed all my crafty type things away while moving/painting Sarah - will have to dig some back out! maybe i need a pick of all the crafty things from our wedding...lol!

The wipes cases I've done cost about $5 to make are easy as & something Paris could do with you if you had a baby shower coming up. I cheated a bit & have used old flanellette sheets, pillow cases & baby wraps instead of buying the flanellette.
Scrapbooking is super expensive. Even if you buy stuff from the $2 shops it can get really expensive. Plus it's messy & you need a lot of space to do it where little hands can't touch. Hence why I've given up!!
One thing I want to try is altered books. Basically you get an old hard back book & turn it into something else! Cut pages out, add things in, paint it, whatever you want. Looks really cool when they are finished, but I've just never gotten around to it.
sounds interesting Sarah. i'm not particularly crafty but love scrapbooking (and when the study is done, i'll have room for it - yay!) - and used a lot of srapbooking stuff to do our invitations and things for the wedding. i don't mind sewing (but can't for the mo cos no machine) and have made clothes and things in the past - helped make a wedding dress and bridesmaids dress for a friend
i REALLY want an embroidery machine! i have made quilllows in the past and the best ones are the ones where i've been able to get some special/personalised embruidery on it
Can you knit Cai? I figure that it is really quite cheap because at the end you have something that you can wear as well.
I have some really simple patterns for kids beanies and things which take practically no wool and are practical as well.
I knit jumpers for my friends kids for birthdays and Christmas and I love seeing them wearing them and mothers are always so appreciative because you know how expensive a woolen jumper can be to buy.
Sarah - as soon as I work out how to add photos I will take some of my recently finished projects and put them up. I am trying to finish an alphabet blanket where each letter is knitted into the pattern and I am very envious of my new neice or nephew who will be on the receiving end. I might put up a photo of that as a work in progress - but it has to be finished by October so I had better get cracking.
ETA - BG - are quillows the quilts that fold up into a pillow? I have seen them but assumed they were mass produced somewhere- didn't think of making them - what a great idea - I will have to steal the pattern/instructions from you some time

LOL BG, say you're not really crafty & your talking about embroidery, sewing wedding dresses & quillows (pillow that folds out to a quilt?).
yep - a quillow is a quilt that folds into a pocket/pillow - very easy to make
the most difficult bit is deciding on material/threading the overlocker! lol
as for the dresses - note the word "helped!" - i cut them out, pinned, overlocked, hemmed - but the intricate things were left up to a friend who does a lot more sewing than me!
i want a sewing maching/overlocker/embroidery machine that i can have permanently set up - i'd be a sewing guru after a while (provided i had BB in the same room so i could still get my fix/inspiration!)
LOL at having the computer in the same room!! I have my sewing machine on the end of the dining table, I'll be in trouble once we have more kids to fill the table up!!
I thought of something else I'd like to try, a paint by numbers. I think it might have been Caro that did one for her nursery & it looked awesome. I think that's be the only sort of painting I could do!
i have a long stitch that i want to get done eventually (have done a few in the past) - but i keep forgetting it's there!
i can't do the paint by numbers thing - too intricate for me! i soooo can't do intricate!
i do some of the window art stuff at christmas time though...
Long stitch I can do & have done heaps but none to show for it as they are always presents! I have three on the go that I found in the spare room, I had started them aboout 10 years ago LOL!

I have done a few cross stitches, but i cannot sew to save my life LOL. Sewing buttons back on and doing hems is the extent of my abilities in that area. I am pretty handy with wood though, haven't done it in years though. I made a dressing table when i was in school and I still have it in my room now. I will find a pic and post it.
I've made a few book bags, a bag for a birthday present to go in and two dresses for Eleanor. I'll take a picture of one of the dresses once i have totally finished it. I didn't get pictures of the book bags as they where for friends.

OMG - I can't believe that just worked - so not a techie & had to get my 'puter' hubbie to help me out...hehehehe.
Well here's a few of my things here.
I've got masses of other knitted stuff but Smee is napping in her room and that's where most of it is. The pudding is just for fun as clootie dumpling is such a Scottish thing. The moccasins are mine - Esme has a pair too but again, i think they're in her room. Will check later on.
I can't handle scrapbooking or embroidery. I'm one of those folk who only makes things FOR something, kwim? Just because they're pretty isn't enough for me - i admire others work like that but i just don't have the patience.
My favourite things pictured.... THe wrap i am still loving. THe scarf i knitted for DP for Valentines day, it's baby alapaca and silk yarn, very soft and warm and expensive. :) Loved knitting it!

ooooh - i forgot - i knit scarves for myself too - i have quite a number of them! i just need to keep going when i start (my old job was great - could knit while i worked - current one isn't so friendly - too busy! lol!!)
Umm - too many wierd things. Braid weaving (must get them scanned), sewing, embroidery etc
Here is my alphabet blanket which is almost finished. i just have to do the triangle edge on the other three sides. I also put a more detailed photo in (of the B of course)
I have also put up the two beanies I have made this week - one for me and a T-Rex one for my nephew as his old one 'makes his head hurt' - I am guessing it is too small :)

Lea - do you have a pattern for the nappy cover?? I definately missed out on the crafty gene, but my mum's a genius and I think she could make these for me.
Amy - LOVE the name plaque! Did you just hand paint the letters etc? With the coat hook thingos - I am making one for DDs new room (with a LOT of help from DH - he's another arty one in our family) but can't find the little knob thingos anywhere - did you buy it and then just paint it or did you buy the little knobs/hooks from somewhere?
hey yep i haave the pattern ... they are pretty easy once you get the hang of them , and maybe your mum could show you .. my 1st one took me 3hrs to make .. (the one in the pic ) but i was soo proud coz i didnt think i could do it .. now i have a bit of an ego about it ... once you start you cant stop hehehe
I recently made some frames for my cousins' twins for their Christening present. It cost me a fortune, but i think if I make any more it won't cost me quite as much - as i have alot of the equipment now. I have put a photo in the gallery, but just have to play around and see if i can put in a link.
I'm also in the process of decorating my girls bedroom and the nursery, and have bought some material to cover canvass squares - to spell out their names. I also want to make a Fabric Photo display board - using ribbons and buttons to hold the photos on. (i'd best get this all done before bubs arrives heh!!)

briggsy's girl...........Quillo........I never knew such a thing existed! But you have me intrigued now.....I am off to google, LOL! I have a sewing machine......would I need an overlocker too? (Sorry, I am a bit clueless when it comes to the machinery side of sewing!)
Also, a quick question for any one else out of this crafty creative group.........I am nearly finished sewing together about 3000 patchwork hexagons........the patchwork it is a thing of beauty, even if I do say so myself. And I get that I border it and back it. And I get than I can lay quiting material between the patchwork and the backing.
But if I want to "quilt" it, can I do that on a machine? (Just a bog standard Janomi)? Or do I have to spend the next 20 years hand quilting??!!
If anyone can help, I'd love to know my alternatives!
Many years ago i started cottage craft. Making those pretty padded photo albums and picture frames etc.
I can do cross stitch, although haven't in years as it's too hard on my eyes now.
I also love scrapbooking and I'm not too bad at that either, although as Sarah said it takes up way too much room and cost heaps of money. I haven't scrapped in ages. :( I used to go every week to the local shop and scrap there. That doesn't happen anymore.
Oh and what have I made ?? I made an album from scratch for my mum, covers, pages, box for it, looks gorgeous. I filled it with pics of all her kids and grandchildren, well the ones she had at the time.
Now I spend my days making babies ;)

Willow - sorry I only just saw your questions. Hmmm, I cheated a bit with the coat rack. A family member gave me an old used coat rack that was boy themed and very tired looking so I painted it myself. The hooks were already part of the rack. They are wooden screwed in at the back. I've been looking for some myself though as I want to make some similar things for friends that are having kids.....I've had a really good look through Bunnings and the only similar thing I've found is in the 'door knob' section there are silver chrome knobs that are a similar shape. Alternatively, try seeking out a handy man at the craft markets that sells some wooden items. They might make something up for you. There are a few wood craft makers at markets up this way that would happily make something for you & hand out 'business cards'.
Name plaques, yep I painted letters myself. Love doing that sort of stuff and have painted a few for friends as well.

Lucy - Quillows are so easy to make - i've made a really simple one for myself - literally a big square of polar fleece with a contrast panel on it to fold it into (usually lives in the car for when i have bro's kids and they want a blanket!) - or really complex - a panel about 1.5m square (quilted - or even a cot panel) with a layer of polar fleece or flanellete either backing it or as a liner (if you want to pretty up both sides) and then a contrast panel along the bottom edge that the blanket part can fold into.
i'm sure i can do up some more technical instructions if you need! mum and i had seen a friend with one, and just guessed how to make it and they turn out pretty well!
