It will be our 1st wedding anniversary in 3 weeks form tomorrow. We want to go the traditional way of gifts so will be doing the 'paper' thing this year. I have a few ideas on what to get DH but i have no idea on what i want for myself because i don't read a lot of books. Any ideas? So i can make up a list for him!
Also what did you get from DH and give to him on your 1st anniversary?
Do you do scrapbooking or anything like that? Perhaps a starter kit for something like that?
Or a family portrait? (it's printed on paper! LOL)
As for what I got DH, I can't remember! And it was only 3 years ago LOL. Can't remember what he got me either. I do remember we had a holiday in Singapore tho :) We aren't following the traditional giftgiving anyway. I probably got him some gadget from his wishlist. DH is hard to buy for, coz he likes to research everything he gets, and if I just go and buy something.. chances are he'll look itup and want to change it LOL.
I don't think we got each other anything our 1st anniversary LOL we don't usually go out to dinner very often, so that is a gift to each other :) we are so sad!! This year we are coming up to five years so I think we should do something special.... not sure what, but something :)
Paper ideas - I like the scrapbook idea,... gosh it's hard to think of paper things apart from books and money (but thats not really paper anymore either

Perhaps a copy of the paper printed the day you were married..as a keepsake.

I think that year we bought each-other a framed Japanese symbol written on handmade paper which translated to mean "love"
BTW Tegan, congratulations on your 1st anniversary coming up and TTC again. I can't believe it's been a year since we were all counting down to your wedding!

For our first wedding anniversary we were getting ready to go o/s so I got DH some pounds and euros. We also both funnily enough bought each other reams of computer paper :p. Dh got me a beautiful "coffee table" book on photos which was lovely too.
We organised to be on a holiday on our first anniversary, plane tickets are paper.
congrats on almost being your first anniversary - i cant remember what i got (was married & divorced long time ago) but i do remember i gave him a print he wanted & had it framed

For our 1st anniversary, we bought each other tickets to see Pearl Jam!!! We are both huge fans and it was a perfect anniversary present for us :)

For our 1st I made DH paper lillies exactly like we had on our cake. DH got me a framed photo from our wedding day (we didn't have professional photos done, but this was a great shot so he got it enlarged & framed). The 2nd year is cotton so I got lillies made from material. he got me sexy undies lol. 3rd yr is leather, so I made him some leather lillies, he got me a handbag. 4th yr we went to cairns for aholiday so that was meant to be our gift to each other but he still got me a little box with flowers printed all over it (4th yr is flowers). 5th yr I got him a "lily of the valey" tree (wood) he got me a outside park bench. Our 6th is on Sunday & its Iron this year & I have a few ideas but having trouble finding what I want & running out of time!
I kick myself every yr that I stuck with making it something to do with lillies ( our weddin gflower) because eeach yr its getting harder to find something while sticking to the traditional gift for that year!

I actually managed to get a back copy of the daily newspaper from the day we were married, i made a beautiful cover to preserve it. Dh got me a scrapbooking book!
omg i am so mad! DH has had to tell me what he got me because it wont be arriving until 20 days after our anniversary!! He got me some books to help with this aromatherapy course im doing and apparently the shop has given an estimated date of delivery of 22/9! Yet on their website it said they'd be here within 10 days! How's that fair?
Anyway he said he was going to buy me something else so i can open on the day, how sweet!
I gave DH books that he was after, and he gave me a voucher to spend a day at a spa getting pampered (PERFECT gift as DD was only 8 weeks old and I needed it). It was a total surprise, and exactly what I needed.
For my first wedding anniversary my husband gave me a diamond eternity ring and manhattan skyline light up picture. I gave him our vows done in calligraphy and framed.

We just had ours in may hubby bought me tickets to cirque de solei and we were away in Hobart for a few days over our anniversary.
