Owie ow.. pain, eep
Laying down is agony but still in pain. It feels like my whole stomach is as tight as a drum (braxton style) with really bad period pains that are coming in waves. They range from 5-3minutes apart and feels like my whole back area is being pulled apart. I've been goin to the loo a lot (tmi sorry) backdoor wise.
Dad2be and I DTD this morning they started about an hour after that and have been getting worse. I rung the hospital and they said if they don't ease off or get really bad in the next hour or so, or waters break, or bleeding I should make my way back from the boonies to my parents..
What's the chances this is the real deal or just some cramping from DTD?
-
oh celtic maybe the DTD has triggered something!
everything you have been experiencing sounds like it COULD be the start of labour, where is the boonies lol?!
just try and time how long each one is lasting and the intensity of it, write it down, then after an hr or two if you can see a clear pattern immerging and pains increasing as well as length between etc maybe ring the hossy again.
-
Hey Celtic
it sounds like it could be the beginning of labor...but it could also be the warm up, which can come and go for a few days before you kick in to active labor
rest lovely, and try and remain relaxed...soft breath and soft face

The hospital aren't too worried. It's gone to more lower discomfort and some jabbing pains in my cervix. It was getting really strong and regular but now is just more braxton tightening pains and less together. If I walk around too much though it starts up again, or if I go to the loo..
The nurse I spoke to said it could go on like this for a few days before actually going into full blown labor... I hope not!!
-
Oooooh CM - how exciting!!!
-
how exciting celtic moon i hope for your sake it's the begining of labour :)
i have my finger crossed for you that it either all starts up or goes away for a little bit *hugs* just relax a baby is imminent hehehe :)
-
Sounds close. Good luck. Walking can bring on labour. If I didn't get walking I think my girls would've stayed there. if its not today, it doesn't sound far away. As excited as you are try to get some sleep if possible. If it happens you'll need all the strength you can get.
I'm excited for you.
-
I'm trying to convince Dad2be to cook me a lamb roast and some baked veggies lol. Pains came back but are now easing again, going to see if I can get some sleep and when I wake up I WANT FOOD lol and choccy milk I've run out *sniff* how am i expected to go through labor without some choccy milk geez. Sort of just finished packing a hospital bag, just waiting for my clothes in the dryer i should of washed yesterday to dry so I have lots of clean undies and dresses and jumpers incase I pop!
Whats that tea your meant to drink to help labor? Or is it to help bring on labor? lol
-
It's raspberry leaf tea, but I think you might be a bit too late for that! It's supposed to assist labour, not bring it on.
-
Yum! I'm coming to your house for tea! Tell him you need it to get your strength up! Then just hope it stays down! My tummy didn't much like food in labour, but I refused to let my self starve.
My mates DP cooked her a big steak dinner the night her labour started & she ended up bringing it back up all over him! Don't tell DP that though or you'll never get your roast!
& get walking after you have a sleep. Go for a nice evening stroll. Don't worry I think people looked at me odd when I was wondering the streets stopping for contractions, but I had to get her out somehow! I think I ended up walking about 5 k's, but my contractions were very irregular. every 30 - 45 minutes. Probably not a good idea to go that far.
And just wanted to make sure you packed breast pads. No one told me first time around & I never thought of it til I sprung a leak.
Hope I helped a little bit. My fingers are crossed that everything will go good for you guys. Hope it happens now!
-
Rasberry Leaf Tea... as far as i can remember :) i tink peppermint is mean to as well??
-
yogababy- if you get a chance could you please explain more about the 'warm up' to labour?? i think i'm going through that right now. i am really breathless. thanks
-
Heya all,
Got about 3 hours sleep, the pain has subsided a lot, just tightness and aching back and hips at the moment. My mum had the exact same thing and then next day she had me so she told me not to lul myself into a false sense of security lol
The midwife at the hospital said I can DTD again or go for a supervised walk if I am trying to bring it on but I don't really feel like doing either!!
I've had phone calls all day everyone keeps saying "why are you so calm? why aren't you at your parents yet or the hospital!!" lol everyones having a mini freak out lol
Dad2be has gone to the store to get me a burger with the lot with gravy smothered chippies as he can't cook and is too scared to try lol. I'm pretty good at keeping food down at all costs fingers crossed I keep up the trend I haven't vommitted once this pregnancy
Arg just hurry up and establish or go away this on/off is like dangling a carrot just out of a horses reach!! Or in my cats case a moth on the ceiling he's got no hope in catching! lol
-
ohhh Celtic - Goodluck hun!
I had sooo much pre labour with Angus that it drove me absolutely batty! I hope it all happens soon for you hun, but make sure you do rest as much as possible and I agree, when not resting, DTD and walk!
-
I shouldn't have told Dad2be about extra DTD lol he won't leave me alone lol
The pains subsided its just braxton style pain now and back ache. Mum keeps assuring me she had the exact same thing and then labor the next day I think she just wants to play with her grandson hehe
I may go for a waddle soon and have a shower, soo many ppl pop in the shower I'm all geared up to go now lol although if labor comes in full swing I'll probably be going "no no no stop stop im not ready yet!!" lol can't win
-
Woke up this morning and nothing!! Jumped Dad2be and now getting braxtons but nothing like yesterday poo! I told my mum she has to come cook me a roast as she was in the middle of cookin a roast when I decided to start comin out lol
Come out bubby we want to meet you!!
-
How frustrating.
Well, one thing I can most definitely establish. You're going to have a baby at some stage. That is my uneducated medical opinion.
BTW..... even when they're born they don't stop kicking you in the ovaries (re: soccer ball reference). Just wait 'til your changing a six months olds nappy and he boots you fair and square. He kicked me so hard the other day I started to see stars. No intention there - just very wiggly legs.
Good luck Celtic.
-
lol, hmm should give him to Dad2b then had several months of being booted I think it's time his bits got a kicking!
Still nothing, I'm aching all over all my joints feel stiff and sore and aching. Been getting a lot of pain in my girl bits and my appetite is now none existant. Mum still swears its close I've gone mental rearranging the house and painting and spring cleaning, she keeps asking how the 'nesting' is going lol. I keep telling her he'll drop when he drops, just wish I knew when that was!!
-
Bad cramps again, wonder how many weeks of this I need to endure lol
-
Welcome to the end of pregnancy hun. As some of the other girls have said this can go on for day's, week's even. I know it's not something that you want to hear. Rest assured that all this discomfort means your body is prepariong and getting ready for labour.
You can still drink Raspberry Leaf Tea now as not only is it drank for a uterine tonic ie, it ehlps to strengthen your uterus and it's contractions it is also great to help you establish a good milk supply. You can also use Evening Primrose Oil vaginally. It helps to soften your cervix and get it all happening for labour. It contains prostoglandins', the same stuff that DH semen does.
Or you can sit back, relax and enjoy what is left of your pregnancy :D
-
I don't think "enjoyment" would be the right word lol. They were so intense and painful last night, I walked around the house through them, had a long shower for as long as I could stand. It was so much worse than the other two times this has happened I was thinking "yep this is it, I'm not going through this for nothing!" and then 5 hours later absolutely nothing, just tapered off and I fell asleep on the floor out of exhaustion... is there something I'm doing wrong?
-
Aww hun, there is nothing at all that you are doing wrong. Sounds like you are more than just a little anxious though. Is it possible for you to organise to have a massage ? It might help to relax you a little if nothing else. Make a date to go out somewhere. Bub's always like to come to inconvenience you.
Sorry, I know, that's probably not what you want to hear either. But there really is nothing that you can do.
-
Is ok I know he'll come when he wants to, it's just a lot of pain and exhaustion to go through for nothing to eventuate. I know it's probably doing my girl bits a world of good for when the time does come it's just a little disappointing. Unfortunately don't have any money to go out anywhere just spent all my money on painting and fixing things in the house (bought a place) before bubs arrives and now trying to pull another $200 out my hiney to get a security door on Ryans room so the cats don't get in there and lay on his face when he does decide to come out and say hi to everyone...
Just feels like I'm not doing something I should be or I should of done more and if I'd done something right I'd be holding my little boy right now... damn depressing preggie hormones
-
Hey Celtic, I know this isn't what you want to hear as everyone says it, but he will come when he is ready. Think of those pains you did have as positive signs your body is preparing, and you can go into labor yourself.
Use this time to get prepared and enjoyed quiet moments just relaxing. You will need all your energy when your little man does arrive. It'd be great for him to hang in there just a little longer....not long now hun. Hugs I know exactly how you feel!
-
Hey CelticMoon, how are things going lately? I remember this road far too well, I had pre labour for 4 weeks, I know its not what you want to hear but the reason I want to tell you is because I have come to believe that those who have alot of prelabour go on to have really good and enjoyable short labours. I think it's because our bodies have done most of the work over a longer period of time. Good luck for labour if you haven't gone into hospital already, can't wait to hear about the birth, I'd be interested to see if your the same.
-
CelticMoon, I've been going through this myself for the past couple of weeks. Frustrating huh!? It just feels like the baby is never going to come. I did go for a big long hike and lost my mucus plug. Also, I've started taking Evening Primrose Oil to help soften and prepare my cervix. Don't know if it's helping but at least I feel like I'm doing something productive. Good luck and hang in there!
