Well I got into Nursing! But I don't know if anyone else has found out yet...
Yay- congrats bon!!
I'll be continuing my degree from this year. Studying early childhood teaching- next year should be my last but I'll be dragging it out a little now bubba is on the way. Just got my last assignment back today and passed so at least I know I finished this year all okay :)
WOOHOO Bon! Congrats!
Yep I'll be there *sigh*... nah really I'm loving it!!
I'm also a continueing student, doing a Bach of Education Primary and Middle School. I have been doing a .75 load but I'm considering doing a full time load next year. Not sure if I could handle it though and if there's any reason to rush through.
I am doing a summer course now (and should be doing the reading and assignment for it right now!!!). Will be nice to have a place to chat in '08!
Hi there! I am a part time (for the moment!) Nursing student. I started last year, but only did 3 subjects sem 1 and two sem 2. I really wanted to go back and do 4 subjects each semester, but need the pre reqs to do that, so this year is my catch up year!
I love nursing, but I will eventually do Midwifery as well.
ETA - I just got into the double degree of Nursing/Midwifery at UQ. New course new uni! So I will be doing that now, soooo exciting!
I'm continuing my study... a double degree - B. Early Childhood Ed. and B. Human Services... still trying to decide how I am going to do next semester... with Bubble on the way. Luckily I will (unless Bubble decides to come REALLY early) be able to finish out one more semester.
Congrats bon!
Yep i'm starting my first year of uni in 2008. Very excited about it all. I am doing a double degree (i'm scared) in secondary teaching home economics and social sciences. Its gonna be a big year for us.
Lots of education and nursing folk in here! I'm off to Uni (distance ed) for an undergraduate library studies degree - halfway there already due to a TAFE diploma. First time doing distance ed though, wonder what that's going to be like!
Hi all, I just got my offer for BA of Midwifery through ACU in Melbourne.
I am totally speechless at the moment !
Congratulations to everyone else as well!
OMG Relle that is just awesome news!!! I am so so happy for you! WTG!!!!
I have enrolled with a fulltime load... its gonna be a full on year! One of my subjects is external though which should help!
Relle, congrats!!!!!!
Thanks so much girls! I am pretty stoked, now I am stressing about childcare etc. There is no day care of childcare places available in my immediate area, so will have to look further afield!
continuing student (and working full time). Studying Bachelor of Health Science with a major in naturopathy. I will probably go back mid-semester as I'm about to start a new job and will need to suss out if I can flex off the afternoons I need to for class.
i'm in for the tertiary prep course this year then nursing 2009
go on shannon you can do it
Congrats to those of you who got in! I got in as well, which is vry exciting for me! I will be studying nursing too. YAY!
I will be doing my Masters in Genetic Counselling by Research. Can't wait!
Another teaching student here - B. Teaching (primary and secondary) - this year is my third out of four part time, but my first year as a single parent. I do two subjects a semester and have one three week placement at a high school this year.
Shannon, my first degree was accounting, almost 20 years ago now - I don't know how I stuck with it for three years, let alone over 8 years ! well done.
Well I guess I can legitimately join this thread now! I just got my offer to enrol in BPsych at Curtin Uni, my first preference!
I looked the offer up at midnight last night, can you tell I'm keen? Then I went on to have nightmares about stuffing up at uni all night!
I'll be working full-time, studying part-time, doing all available external modules (4 of them) distance ed in the first couple of years to start with, and then the plan is to take long service leave to tackle 4 units as a full time student for one semester, then when I return to work, to access study leave to finish my course part-time on campus.
That's the plan anyway!
Congrats on all these new offers. You girls are amazing. Im a continuing student...heading into my third year of bach of social work. Go for it!!!
Jo
YAY Janice! I'm so thrilled for you! You are gonna be ace at this I promise you!!!
Barbie-up This my second year. I did a .75 load last year and I'm starting off with a .75 on campus load and .25 external this semester. Then next semester I have a full time on campus load with a 4 week placement *eeek*
Kate Genetic counselling sounds awesome!!!
Well looks like I will be doing Masters of Health and Human Services Management this year.
I was going to defer but the Uni screwed up the paper work, it actually turned out for the best though so all signs point towards studying.
It's part time and all external so I am easing myself back in slowly, it's been 6 years since I've done any study and now I feel old lol
...Laura
oooh i don't know what i have let myself in for i got my enrolment package today and tried to do what i had to do over the internet and i was completly lost if i can't even enrol properly what hope do i have really
You'll get there Shazz! Good luck working it out.
All my course material has arrived super early (semester starts mid Feb) which is fantastic... I'm currently trying to go study mad and see if I can finish the semester before bubba arrives. Fingers crossed- the assignments look long and hard!
It starts for me as well. I have been checking everyday because the tutor told me when enrolled that they might post the online coursework a little early for external students, and today, viola, there it was. So I officially start study as of Monday - Wed nights after work and Sat mornings at the uni library and Monday, Tues and Friday nights studying at home when Charlie goes to bed.
I also got my textbook and read the first few pages and it all seems like greek to me! Don't know how I'm going to go!
Well its scary close now lol...
Got a call from the child care centre and Em is booked in for an extra 2 days again satrting 3rd March  I'm so sad about this :(
I have received my one external learning packet so I can start on that any time. Just need to get the text book for it. The rest are on campus - so the craziness is about to start again....
Good luck Sushee you're gonna be great
Lea I'm going to look to you for inspiration when the going gets tough, hun! I completely understand feeling sad about Em going to childcare more. I look at C and think of how much less he sees of me lately and feel like my heart is breaking. But I admire your tenacity and I hope I have half your strength to see this through.
I wish my study package would hurry up and arrive
I have almost all of my textbooks. Just one more to get and thats it. I'll see if I can go out on monday and get it. Very exciting. I've been reading through all my online stuff and its very interesting. At the moment I am looking at my biology subject and its all reminding me of year 10 science!
Shazz - I got lost with the online enrolement as well, had to get DP to do it for me!
How expensive are text books!!! I am doing only one unit and my two books are close to $200, while DP is doing 4 units off campus and his are just over $400. Tell you what, after we are finished we better be on darn good money LMAO
Oh yeah, books are sooo expensive, but I've managed to buy all of mine second hand off ebay and other places too. I also got a few from a website called www.textbookexchange.com.au. I managed to get some in excellent condition for less than half the brand new price!
I was lucky and got my textbook as a package through my MIL. One massive book, one study guide and a CD ROM is all I need for this semester's unit. The rest of my resources are apparently fully online so I won't need the library, but I intend to utilise it anyway mainly for quite study time.
Woohoo Sushee, how handy that alot of your course materials are online.
I just recieved a book + CD the other day and the stupid CD isnt working! SO NOT HAPPY!! So I'm going to try and sort that out tomorrow.
Hi ladies (and any gents)
It was my first day at uni today and although i know i am going to love it - it was all very overwhelming!!
im now trying to nav my way around the university web page to see if i can find the readings that i need aaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh
I hope this year goes well
GL to you all with your studies
Hi Pitapata, you are not the only one! I am only doing one unit, but far out, I am already freaking out!!! lol
Hey Everyone! Good luck with Semester 1 2008!
I have transferred from B EarlyChildhood to B BusinessAdmin.
Studying externally... after some long and hard thought I think my time in the Early Childhood industry is drawing to an end professionally. When I go back to work (in about 6 years time when my babies are at school) a desk just from 9-3 will be great!
wow Jen - im doing BECE and working three days - ive been in the industry for 12 years now and look at this course as the next step in getting off the floor but still able to have some contact time - im looking to head into ISS or Child protection after my degree
TBH i think i will need to do the course part time as i dont think i can fit it all in as well as all our IVF stuff too. But at the same time i really want o get this finished as soon as i can ahhhhhh
All the best with it Jen. My first degree I did Commerce and this time around I'm doing Early Childhood Teaching  I figure there are loads of admin opportunities in EC when I get tired of the hands on stuff... I'm thinking maybe child advocacy or parenting education long term.
Pitapata- I'm studying part time. Dropping to only one subject this semester! But I'm not in a rush now we're having a baby as I don't want to go back to work for a few years.
I'm only doing one unit this semester and one next semester. With working 4 days a week 8-5pm, a family and uni to boot, I had to realistic about my course load. I also want to do well, so don't want to overburden myself and end up not putting enough effort into a spread of units because I don't have enough time for them all.
But yeah I would love to be able to do this full-time, and get it done so that I can move into work in that field, but right now, while it's my goal, it's a very very long term one. But I work coz I have to, so until I win lotto, I've got to take it a unit at a time, too.
