80% Chance

Just got back from my secons attempt at my 18-20 week scan and the lady told me that there is an 80% chance i'm having a little Girl :babygirl:

I'm so excited as i have a 3 y/o son but is an 80% chance a good enough to rely on???

A GF of mine was told when we both has our first (3 years ago) 80% chance of a boy and she has a baby girl... I'm completely over the moon and although it wouldnt matter would hate to go out and buy all pink (as i have blue from my first) just to give birth to a boy...

SO my question is would any of you take this "80% chance" as good enough and begin to buy pink????

The lady at our U/S gave us a 90% chance of a girl but I would take anything 80% & over as a red light to buy girl things...

A friend of mine was told at her 18week scan she was expecting a girl (not sure what her % of chance was, i think the dr said definate)
They picked out a name and bought a few pink things, but my friend had a gut feeling they were wrong... she had another scan at 27 weeks, and boom it was 110% sure it was a......

BOY!!!

She gave birth to her son in july last year!! LOL i would wait!!! JMO!!

i wouldnt but pink things just yet!! i would ask to have another scan in a few weeks!!

hmm I would wait but maybe buy one little thing! LOL so exciting! It's annoying they can't give you 100% though there the stories out there of them still getting it wrong! Fingers crossed for you!

Thanks everyone.... The first attempt she said if i had to guess i'd gay girl now today it was 80% chance.... i'd like to have the 4d scan done but the recommend it to be done at 30-32 weeks so its a while off....

Mite just pick up a few little things but keep them mainly neutral..

I was told 90% with Jasmine and they couldnt even see between her legs...they went by the posistion of her bladder.

Id say hold off an buying pink til u know for sure!

There's someone on BB that was told it was a girl earlier on and now with only a couple of weeks to go she's been told it's a boy so I wouldn't trust 80% odds.

I have been told twice now by two scans Im having a girl.
They even gave me a picture of it on my last scan saying Girl
but said they could only give me 80% aswell cause its law or something??
I do also know another BB member who was told at HER 18wks it was a boy
then two wks later by another scan was told girl.
Then one week ago was told its a BOY!!!
iM GOING FOR ANOTHER SCAN IN 2WKS

Mumof5.... just wondering how do you go about booking another scan??? the place i go needs a referal i think and they need to know what the US is for and i was told that the 18-20 week US was the last scheduled scan???? can you just request another US just to check gender???

yes you can ask your doctor for another refferal!!

you dont need a reason to get it done because its your choice!

They told me it was a girl with my son & vice versa with my 2 daughters so yeah i wouldn't b buying all pink just yet.
As far as i know if u want another scan that isn't a scheduled one u can have it but u have to pay for it .

I just said I wanted to check on the gender again
and to get the the good 4D shots.
I did have to pay $75 dollars tho at
Sydney pregnancy and womans ultrasound at windsor.
Not sure where you live but for me its worth the half hour
trip. Ask for a pic of the sex i did and they labled it (GIRL).
wELL WORTH IT. Im going again next week to triple check.

i figured lots of people are having babies and if i dont get my little girl i'm sure i'll know someone who's hving a girl so it wont go to waste.. Just brought one outfit so feel good that i have one thing pink now

I was told that the standard accuracy rate of ultrasounds in determining baby's gender was 80%. I wonder if it's more than that though. I was told I was having a girl and I did. *shrug* I bought pink after the 18-20wk ultrasound :P

From what i've heard bout 80% (hehe) of US predictions are correct but there are still a few that are wrong.... The lady told me for girls they look for a line which is the Libia (spl) and for boys they check between the legs for ...as she put it "anything hanging"...hehehe

The issue with mine was she say a deffinate line but bubs has legs crossed at ankles fo the gap between the legs was minimal...thats why she couldnt give me a more accurate %... i think its more to cover their butts... but am talking with DP he want me to get another US but i'm thinking might be best to just have the 4D scan if we have to pay at least we'll know for sure...(just hope when we go that bubs legs arent closed

Good idea Jess 4D is awesome and yes its all about people taking people to court to get abit of cash.

I was told 95% chance at my 20 week appointment and then at 36 weeks. So we were pretty sure. Yes my friend found out last weekat 38 weeks she was having a boy even though her 20 week scan it looked like a girl. She was lucky enough to be able to return most her girl clothes...

Mumof5- thanks wish i had gotten a pic at the US they dont give out pictures only the scans... which didnt have a pic of the sex... :(

Definatley thinking best chance is to have a peek with the 4D scan

DP already has plans for 3# so even if bubs is a boy mite still have a chance to have a girl next time... hehehe

I was given a 90% chance I was having a boy for my 18-20 week scan but had been told at my 12 week scan it was a boy aswell but wait 6 weeks for my other scan to confirm then cause I had to have a late ultrasound (36 weeks) I found out I was having a girl... & I ended up having a DD

i must be really dumb , coz i looked at both pics and i cant make out either of them !! lol

have you tried googling the chinesese gender predictor calnder ?? apparently they are pretty accurate ..

it was accurate with my ds and this time i have seen about 10 differnt ones that tell me im having a girl .... eeeek what do i do with a baby girl ??

Lea- i've done most of the CGP they all say girl but most people in my belly buddies thread are getting wrong predictions to their US....

Ok with my scan of DS in my gallery.. it is a butt shot looking up. So you can see his legs and inbetween pointing up is his willy.

the two are VERY different!! Well i think so.
I did 19 of those gender things and 9 said girl and
10 said boy. Its luck of the draw i think.

thanks ladies... i can see the difference... Issue with my US was bubs wouldnt open legs enough to make sure there was nothing hanging... we saw 2 lines and she said i'm pritty sure its a girl but cant be 100% as she couldnt make sure there was anything hanging....

Hi MUMOF5- havent booked another scan just yet... they say i need to get a referel and then i'll have to pay as i have already had my scheduled morph scan......

Not sure if i can get my GP to just write on the referal check gender???

With my DD I was told a girl, but I quizzed like crazy about the accuracy. They flat out refuse to give 100%, but my US guy was the most experienced person in the building, and I'd say knew what nuances to look for.

Im having my third scan from 18wks and I just said
I wanted to double check gender and get some good 4D
shots of bub and the Doc just gave me the ref.

MUMOF5- so where is the place you get your scan??? Do they give you 4D pictures with normal scans or are you getting a full 4d scan???

They just do it in normal 2D then they turn the 4D on and off during the whole scan.
I asked for all kinds off picture and they did them for me.
It was at Windsor in George St its called Sydney pregnancy and womans ultrasound.
They are lovely,it cost $75 dollars and you dont get any of that back.

Jess.. where abouts in Sydney are you? Im in Windsor and had DS's 3D/4D done in Penrith. They were absolutely lovely and provide you with pictures to take home. You can also pay an extra $5 and get the whole scan on a DVD to keep. They are located near the Napean Hospital.

Mumof5.. thats where im having mine done with this baby! Do you know if they do the DVD for you?

Kell...They only do it on video for a $5 fee.
But they are pretty good all you have to do is ask
and they will do there best to get the shot you want

Hi all- I'm near liverpool...The place i've been to that has the 3d/4d whatever it is capability dont give you photos with a normal scan. (ive asked and they told me they dont to them for normal scans even if you pay. But they do the 4d scan on DVD with stills and moving shots for $125 and you dont get any back but she said if bubs doesnt behave there good and let you go for a walkto get bubs to move positions etc and come back just to get you what your looking for. If i get another regukar scan it will be $75-85 and no rebate either so i figured might be best to just get the 4d scan that was i get a DVD and its the better pic???

She told me best to do that scan at 29-32 weeks as they need a certain amount of fluid round the bubs for good quality pics. She said if you go earlier its still good but better quality round that time. Also if you go later there isnt enough fluid round bubs???
