PP to carry over from the last thread, don't mind you discussing your DD's rash here at all - it is peripherally related to nappies - at least why you can't use your beautiful stash! Just wish we could offer a bit more help, the poor little thing must be soooo uncomfortable.
And BTW the Bear is my DH ..... so he's a bloke.... and a damn fine cook. although I wish he would hurry up on the computer in the other room - the Bill is on pause until he gets back! LOL
-
lol yep! Bear just chatted to me int he chat room and cleared up the gender issue! hahah!
ill tell him to hurry up and watch the bilL!!

Hi - I thought I would join this thread and try and keep up with you all. I have just started using MCN - so far I have hautes pockets and I find them great.
Just wondering the best thing to use for a red rashy bottom (DS is teething) - I want something I can get easily from the supermarket or chemist, but the instructions I got with the nappies says to not use nappy rash creams.....very confused. What does everyone else use?
-
Hi Karla,
If you find you need to use something to help with the rash, use liners in your nappies, so some microfleece or disposable liners. You don't want the nappy rash creams coming in contact with your MCN as it builds up & stops them being as absorbent as they should be.
-
You can use creams with MCN as long as you use liners. Microfleece or disposable work well! Any barrier cream or oil based cream will reduce the absorbency of your nappy, and is a pain in the ar$e to scrub off. (ETA: Snap FJ!)
HTH.
WOH(sleeping hopefully)B: stealth changed Bamboozle with Maz trifold and wool soaker.

PP - have you considered that it's a reaction to the penicillin?? I get a skin reaction to some penicillins which is why I thought of it. You'd have to check with the Dr...
WOHB - BBB with booster (nighttime). Hmmm... that reminds me. I must wash/lanolise my new wool cover & longies!
-
oh you girls just reminded me of another thing I have to do...liners! dame it!!!

PP, this might sound silly, but when you say she's off all dairy, but is on formula........what sort of formula is she having? Does she have a known reaction to dairy products? It sounds like quite a bad rash, and is obviously distressing you and your DD. I personally would be going back to the GP, and if they can't give you any definitive answers, then I would be asking for a derm or paed referral. It sounds like it's being going on for some time, surely someone can help you out with it. You could specualte for ages about all the things it may or may not be, you really need someone in the know to have a proper look at it. I hope it gets sorted out soon for you, it must be so awful for you to see your baby like that
WOHB: BBB with Maz pirate cover!
-
PP, keep us up to date when you do find out what it is.
Karla, If you need something fast and dont have any liners try opsite flexifix. It is that stuff that they use when you have a drip to create a barrier. it is around $4 per metre but it is worth it, as you only take it off when it is pooey, or it starts peeling off.
-
Janie - the dr said to put her back onthe formula she was organially on which yes is a dairy based formula... i questioned this and she said that she didnt react on it and so she needed to rule out all the other foods she has had in the past 6 weeks or so. I know it sounds crazy to me too.
I will see if i can get an appointment tomorrow for her.
FJ/Suse - i have her in sposies but i might go buy some microfleece like you said. i have dispoable ones but i dont like the way they bunch inside... not sure how to stop that.
Maz - great stash! lol! and great variety of patterns too!! :) how funny we have designated shelved for our nappies like a trophy room hehe!
cmon girls show us your stash!!!!
karla ! - hi and welcome! :)
-
my stash is so pathetic i am ashamed to show it off haha let me get back to you after tax time!!!!!!!
sorry i am so hopeless at keeping up with you all!!
must be the time for rashes dd has an infected nappy rash eeeek shes got some perscribed cream for her atm which seems to be helping but i cant put her in sposies because shes so sensitive it makes her rash bleed.. not fun..
with liners i just use the johnsons disposable.. not as good for the environment but they are pretty cheap and easy for someone looking for some liners to just use whilst bub has nappy rash and u needa use cream..
-
Ooh Maz, that's what I call a STASH! Ended up watching tv until like midnight which is very unusual for me... usually on the computer!!
God I love my bumwears, really really - we're going out today & last night we had almost no MCN & no way am I lugging wet flats around, so something silly like 10pm last night I hang 4 inserts & pockets near the heater & they are all dry & ready to go!:loveshower:
Don't y'all talk too much today! ;)
-
Bumwears ay... haven't seen them.... ;)
I need my squirt. I really need my squirt. I really really need my squirt. Just had to scrape off a yucky poo of one of the gorgeous snoozywuns.... not noice at all!!!!!
WOHB: Bum G and a gorgeous pair of longies (ran out of pants for him - cos I do need to wash things OTHER than nappies - and thought I would test them out to see if they are too itchy for him.. he looks cute!!! Hmm.. I should take a pic)
Pics of stashes.. hmmm... no... maybe I won't... can't even see how many I would have of fitted newborn nappies, shelf is far too full... lol
Oh, and did everyone else notice that I HAVEN'T had the baby yet.... dooo dahhh.. doooo dahhhh
-
Thats it, im gonna try & take a pic of my stash today too. The battery in the carmera is flat though, but maybe if I am fast I will get a shot or two before switches off LOL.
PP, I really feel for your DD.. The rash onher face looks so nsaty. I would be getting a second opinion from another GP.
Seriously the idea of removing Dairy but remaining on the dairy based formula is the most stupid thing I have ever heard. Doesn't matter that she didn't react to it before. If DD has developed an allergy then ALL dairy should be removed in order to rule it out. Also, Just so you know, apparently it can take up to THREE weeks for the cows milk protein to be gone from your system once ALL dairy intake has stoped. So in order to asses that properly she needs to be off dairy completly for at LEAST 3 weeks before making any kind of call on that one.
Vegemite as a preservitive in it that some can react too, so I would maybe cut that out for a little while too.
Also, don't rule out the possiblity of it being a allergy to a food product. But I seriously think (given the history) that its a reaction to the immunisation. It all ties in nicely. I would be seeking a second opnion & also asking for a referal to a dermatoligist or allergiest. POssibly even a natropath may be able to help.
Glenn gets a rash on his face that isn't as nasty looking as your DD & only occours around his mouth, but I have so far seen 3 Drs about it & no one has been able to fix it. 1st Dr just fobbed me off, the 2nd thought it was a staf infection, I treated accordingly with no difference, the 3rd gave me a fungle cream, again with no difference. I am thinking of looking for a natropath.
I would do some research on what reactions to the vaccine could look like.
Off to prewash some bamboo! actually no I lie, I will do that later but now I can't help but go google what I just told PP to look into LOL.
-
PP I have Micro-fleece here if you want me to drop some off too you let me know.
WOHB sposie........DD got him dressed
-
ok will get out my stashes too!!!
cant take pics where they are so will figure something out!!!
bbs
-
PP, I have to say I agree with FJ. Keeping her off all dairy, but giving her formula that contains dairy........well it just doesn't make sense. If they really think it's an allergy problem then I would be asking to see an allergist to diagnose it properly. In the meantime, try the microfleece liners, they're great at keeping the bum dry!
-
ok, here is my current Isla stash https://www.bellybelly.com.au/forums...php?photo=8139
I even took things off the line for the photo then put them back as they were still wet LOL. The only thing missing is the WAHM AI2 Isla is wearing. She has gone for a walk with DH & the boys so I couldn't lay her in the photo too LOL.
-
ok here are mine
MJ's Nppies
Annikas Nappies
Fj - i did the same for Mj's nappies!!! Annikas are all dry cause she is at her dads and he supplies the nappies for there (sposies)
-
I'll do a pic of my pathetic stash once they're all dry & put away (in the machine at the moment).
WOHB - Parent's & Pumpkins pocket (Hawaiian print!)
-
I put mine in little calico hampers, like mini laundry hampers under the change table & what doesn't fit (lol alot) are stacked up on front of those.
On a plus, I found 3 daddy proof nappies. Well I didn't find them as such but realised they were good ones for DH to get on Isla
-
Great stashes girls!
Yep she is still n a sposie - bum rash isnt as angry but still there.. so might see how she is tomorrow.
Bepathen seems to be doing the trick!!
Melham - do you have any spare - i can buy some MF off you?? NOt sure what size/shape to make them... just rectangle???
Janie/Fj - i agree with you and i queried this too when the dr said to do it. She said not to change to soy as she may have a reaction to that.. and i said... so dont give anything??? and she said just o go back to what she was on... Anyhow confused!!
She looked much better this morning and then went outside to my sisters backyard and flared up - especially near her eyes... so wondering if it is grass or something outside doing it (we let her play inthe back yard here....).... oh what a mess. so i am going to try for an appointment for the drs tomorrow again to find out.
This was her this morning (on waking).... before the flare up
https://www.bellybelly.com.au/forums...42&ppuser=8455
Any suggestions on a good cheap prefold (i want about 30 odd)??
-
I really should take pics of Aricyn's and the new baby's stashes.. but I don't know if you can tell how many I have if they are all crowded in the shelf.. might have to do a rearrange.. LOL
and some of mine are wet too, or are waiting washing..
-
yeah cmon mel! sort them out.... gosh anyone would think you are busy waiting for a baby!!! lol
-
I just got back from the movies actually - never got to see the end of it cos I was a little sick in the toilets.. So we came home.... theatre was too hot I think
-
PP sorry I missed this before, but I'm confused. If she's been taken off dairy because of an allergy & then the formula is supposed to be okay? WT??? If she has a dairy intolerance or a milk allergy the formula is NOT okay. After 2 years of dealing with a milk allergy, all I can say is you need to be wary as many people give you conflicting advice about it.
Jovie had ezcema with cows milk and reflux, when she had soy her ezcema got angry and heaps worse, so she didn't have cows products or soy. She had breastmilk at that time, but I couldn't have cows milk or soy either. We tried goats milk and that was no good either, so once she hit 12 months and wanted something other we would give rice milk. Seeing as your little one is over 12 months, you may want to start with that? Or goats milk. Goats milk is supposed to be the closest in properties to human milk.
Sorry, don't want to warble on about it, just a journey that we are still on and if I can help I will try.
The first few months are the most confusing and the most frustrating when trying to find out about food allergies.
ETA: ohh bummer Mel, I hope you are feeling better.
WOHB: BBB & PUL.... something!!
-
pp...I can give you some have some red and some blue with animals on....all mine a just rectangle ones, no need to sew just cut and use.... will have to drop off soon if today as dh is going to work.
-
Actually - changed my mind. Can't be bothered rearranging them.. LOL.... people will just have to come and have a peek when they visit the baby... hehehehe
-
no probs melham
Christy - i know i am baffled too.!!! Heres a question for you (seeing you have the experience)
If it is an allergy and you give an antihistamine such as zyrtec.... and it doesnt make a difference to the rash... woudl you say it isnt an allergy?
-
Haha we just had a blow out!!!! Put a mother-ease fitted on him (one of the sandy's ones or whatever they are called) and the same pair of cute longies... then DH came into the house and DS was calling from the hallway, saying something, we couldn't really make out, sorta sounded like "stack" and DH found him doing the splits.. impressive yeah? So DH picked him up, and then said.. hmmm.. why did my arm get wet when he swung his foot around.. and we discovered the pee trail from the bedroom, down the hallway, all the way to the loungeroom and it was still dripping off his toes.. pmsl!!!!
AHHHH.. thats how much weight my little man has lost - even the ones for his size that used to fit, don't fit anymore...
WOHB: Mandy Macs & Maz cover (a medium cover that goes nearly to the middle snaps.. poor little skinny fella...)
-
PP, some one had cotton prefolds listed on Ebay. packs of 5 for $15
-
Can't imagine when I can get a pic of my stash - got most of them on the line, one on him and one in the nappy bucket waiting a wash... will be like that until we have a warm sunny day I suppose!
I'll have to get them off the line shortly and finish them off in the dryer... don't think they got much sun today! ;) Darn, there's a couple of stains I was hoping to shift!
WOHB - BBB & PUL cover
-
ditto on the sun! Isla did the most "Wrong" poo in her itti bitti dlish yesterday & OMG it was just so wrong, so very very wrong that came out of my little girl!
I really needed some sun today to get rid of the evidence! But none in sight, just cold & overcast all day.
I wish it would just bloody rain as my water tank is getting pretty low again!
eta - PSML, its starting to spit!
-
PP....Just had to post, had a talk with him and he has said YES is up to me and he said I always get my own way anyway but in a joking way SO I guess I can say we will be joining the TTC.
And that means more NAPPIES though my argument was wont need to buy NAPPIES,ect all I would have to get is new cot and change table.
-

FJ - where on ebay :( i see some from china???
WOHB - Sposie
-
Not tonight PP in middle of AF but will try this month checked the calender and for my age now is SEP, OCT< NOV and DEC but is my birthday on the 2nd and that then includes August BUT i really dont have a problem with another boy but then would love a girl
-
I think they may hav ebeen from china.... let me go look again
eta - the ones I saw the other day aren't there now :(
-
they might have been the ones from happy babes. it is a newish store.
-
PP - zyrtec only works on allergies that raise the histamine levels, so most food allergies won't be helped by antihistimines. Allergies that cause ezcema aren't usually the same. I'm not entirely sure why?
