We don't do pressies, so the brekky in bed is the big treat of the day.......much planning and preparation!
DH has, this year, requested:
A fruit platter (melon and strawbs and pineapple)
Vanilla Fruche (he is a bit addicted to this at the moment!)
Toasted fruit spice muffins, spread with real butter(LOTS of them!)
CocoPops
Coffee and freshly squeezed apple juice.........
And all the kids in bed with him too.
We're having Chocolate Pancakes with Raspberry Butter, and a nice latte and some fresh juice.
Olivia and I are going to be making omellette with ham, cheese, tomato and onion with coffee for DH as requested. Nothing anywhere as fancy as Lucy, LOL!! I don't even know what half of those are, LOL!!! Then we all sit at the table together as DH hates eating in bed. Can't wait.
Marc's just requested something savoury (as well), so I'm also making breakfast pizza's with turkish rounds, egg, tomato, mozzarella & bacon...
Looks like our roast pork & mushroom sauce is going to be "later" than lunchtime LOL!
Lucy I'd rather your breaky too hun, can I come for breaky? He's a good man to want to eat so healthy and light!
I make a big, fatty, unhealthy, clog your arteries up, breaky every Sunday. So to make things a bit out of the ordinary Im going to make my famous scrambled eggs, well they will be famous after tomorrow :cryinglaugh: I love fathers day! I always nearly ruin it as I cant wait to give Dp and my dad there pressies
Dp is getting a phone I ordered off ebay (new not used) but wont be here till Monday. So tomorrow he is getting breaky and a book about why Annabelle loves him ;)
We usually go with the bacon & eggs, but tomorrow its pancakes, maple syrup & ice cream!
Yep, icecream for brekky. The girls won't know what to do with themselves.
Hmmm & sliced banana I think. Yummm
If he doesnt snap out of his shiaty mood then a quick swift kick up the rear and some rat poison in his coffee
Seriously....his fav is just boring bacon and eggs in bed with the kids around him for cuddles and his favourite...BBQ lunch in the backyard
I will get up early and make pancakes, we have to be at the Sunshine Coast by 8 so have to leave home at about 7.
You know what, he has been pondering and deliberating on the "what shall I ask for for brekky"for a week! And eventually he said to me "You know the brekky you got when you were in hospital having the babies? I want that." LOL!:
He's a good man to want to eat so healthy and light!
That is CLASSIC Lucy! I love it :D
We're heading out to the beautiful Currimundi Lake on the beach for brekky at the local cafe there. DH's fav place on a Sunday morning. The kids are beside themselves with excitement.
DH just wants bacon and eggs so we'll do that. He hates eating in bed too!
Corn fritters with avocado and sour cream, bacon, eggs.
we are having waffels!! but DP dosnt do breakfast so he will have his later with a coffee!!. we will enjoy the brekie ourselves lol. till it's present time!! the kids cant wait
We're having juice, pots of coffee and tea, a fruit platter, and french toast with ham and gruyere, followed by some pastries. I have some croissants there too, I think I might turn them into chocolate croissants! The ILs are coming, so it won't be in bed, but DH doesn't like eating in bed anyway (unless he's drunk LOL which he won't be tomorrow morning!).
Yeah, I thought Fiona's sounded great too! DH would just eat the bacon and eggs though, so it would be a waste of time here  we have that most Sundays.
We're having bacon, eggs, hash browns, english muffins and chocolate milk(dh doesn't drink coffee) Oh and it won't be in bed either as dh's a grot when he eats in bed :cryinglaugh:
Oh Janie that sounds bliss too! I love a good croque monsieur as does Marc I think he'd love to gatecrash your place too ;)
Fiona - could you/would you post the recipe for your corn fritters? Pretty please? I have been wanting to make some for AGES and don't have a good tried and true recipe. Understand if it's a family secret, but you can kill me after I make them, OK?
DP's working tomorrow, so no breaky for us. :( He'll have the usual cup of coffee and a cigarette (naughty DP) and I'll have a big glass of activite. Exciting stuff. But I'll do something good for dinner to make up for it.
Cai, it's not a true croque monsieur (shame, I luuurve them!), rather really thick slabs of bread with ham and gruyere stuffed in a pocket, dipped in your egg and milk mixture and cooked a la french toast :) Then popped in the oven quickly so the cheese is really melty ;)
Thats the original Croque Monsieur :) The more elaborate one with bachemal sauce isn't actually as original as people think ;)
ETA: OK I got confuzzled, whilst I have had Croque Monsieur's made this way (and the bachemal way) in the US these are called Monte Cristo's if made with Swiss Cheese, Turkey, Chicken & Ham. Thank you - I love learning new foodie things
Anytime Cai ;)
I think I outdid myself yesterday LOL! It was quite simple actually, but really lovely. The table looked gorgeous (if I do say so myself) and the ILs were impressed . I used a beautiful tablecloth, my best glassware and cutlery, and a fair bit of my Wedgewood, Sarah's Garden. We had a nice, long, relaxed brunch, and it was devine :D I've resolved to entertain at breakfast time more often!
Hope everyone else enjoyed their yummies :)
