When can i try again after miscarriage?
Hi everyone,
I'm new to this and not so sure how it all works.... however I have finally found a way to open a new thread.
I am 35 and have only recently miscarried (2 days ago!!). :wall:
Fortunately it was very early on at almost 6 weeks. I'm bleeding quite heavily and have been told that I won't require a D & C (I think it's called) as the bleeding will remove everything. My Dr (didn't quite make it to see OB as yet) said I can try again any time. Does anyone know when I can start trying? Is this bleeding classified as Day 1 of a period and therefore possible ovulation would occur in approx 2 weeks? Is it too soon to start trying in 2 weeks again? or is there a certain amount of time that is required to wait?
If anyone has any knowledge on this subject - I'd appreciate it. This is very unknown to me and I have no idea.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read/respond!
I miscarried the day after my 27th birthday....
Hi I'm Leslie, and I had a miscarriage on November 30th the day after my 27th birthday.
This was my first pregnancy and I was nervous at first and then a little miserable because I was having a lot of the symptoms and you know your like "ughh, I feel like crap today", but you still love being pregnant and love knowing your going to have a little one soon, and happy with that. But then the worst thing happened.
I wasn't sure what was happening until I started bleeding and having really bad labor pains. It has been the most painful experience of my entire life.
I was 16 weeks along and I was so excited that I was pregnant, something I wanted for the last 3 years. My husband is in the army so I had to wait for when he was going to be home for us to get pregnant and also him to be here for the whole pregnancy (which he really wanted to be here for).
So we had gone to the Dr. about 2 weeks before and no problems were found; we had a sonogram done and the nurse who has done this job for 20 plus years said she thought we were having a boy! My husband and I were so excited because all we wanted were little boys. Well, were going to have a little boy until that Sunday morning I woke up feeling bloated and I thought it was just gas, but I was wrong. The labor pains progressively got worse and I told my husband there was something wrong. I was in so much pain I could hardly move. I tried to control my breathing to get through the contractions, to say the least it was very hard.
Finally I started to feel the pain lessen after about 6 hours of pain. Then my water broke. I will never forget that. And then our son was born... but he was too young to survive outside of my womb. He was only 16 weeks and there was nothing I or my husband could of done to save him.
My husband called our emergency doctor's number at the special birthing center we have in our town and they told him we had to cut the umbilical cord and separate the baby from me and bring us into the birthing center. I was in such shock, I mean I was holding our son hoping to see some sign of life in his little body and there was none.
My husband rushed us to the hospital where the nurses and doctor took very good care of me. I spent about 12 hours there waiting for my placenta to separate from me, but it didn't so I had to have a D&C surgery to remove the tissue. I was sent home shortly after the surgery.
I was off from work about two weeks and the whole time I couldn't be left alone for very long. I had horrible anxiety attacks and I cried for hardly no reason. I was an absolute wreck.
I eventually learned after waiting for all the test results that came back from examinations and blood work on myself and the pathology reports from my son's autopsy that there was no reason why my body could of caused a miscarriage, and nothing wrong with my son physically or anything wrong with his chromosome count.
I was put on antidepressants to help with my anxiety attacks and how depressed I was with the loss of my son. The baby I had been dreaming of for so long.
I would love to be pregnant again and the doctors say I should have no problem getting pregnant again however I am so worried I will miscarry again. I don't know how to feel or what to think...
If someone could let me know that they had a similar experience and had a full term pregnancy after their first miscarriage and that there is hope... please tell me your story.
How long til hormones normal?
Hi..
I'm new here and I've been researching everything since I had my miscarriage. I've had 2 healthy pregnancies.. I have a son that is 4 and a daughter who is 2. Never had any problems with either pregnancy.
I found out I was pregnant in March of this year..the 19th.. then I started bleeding and cramping the 24th and went in for some bloodwork. My hcg was 32 and my progesterone was .7. . which is pretty low from what i've read but my dr says normal at that stage of a miscarriage.
when i found out i was pregnant my hcg was 36 on the first draw..but I didnt think anything of it because when i found out I was pregnant with my daughter my first draw was only 27. But when repeated it was in the 70's so the dr figured early pregnancy. So thats what i thought this time too and the dr also. When i had my second draw with this last one.. my hcg had only risen to 56 but was only 40 hrs apart so dr said it was ok.
I bled for about 5 days.. and cried... shortly after my miscarriage I began lactating.. still had pregnancy symptoms..etc.. its been the hardest thing i've ever gone thru.. when I went back to my dr a week later to have my hcg level checked it was back down to normal ..less then 2... i wanted my progesterone checked also..but she said at that point it wouldnt have any value to come back on cd 21. Well it was time for my pap on cd 23 so i just waited til then. My progesterone level is only .8 which she says means I havent ovulated.
My question is.. does it take time for all your hormones to go back to normal..?..or for your body to return to normal? By my dates I should be getting my first period since the miscarriage..but will I get a period without ovulating? Could i still ovulate before i'd get my period?.. its all so confusing and my dr isnt one to take the time to answer questions.. i'm really thinking about changing.. i've read alot about low progesterone.. i dont know if i have that problem or not.. but with such a low number at that point in my cycle wouldnt that be a signal that it is?
i was so sure i had all my signs for ovulation 2 weeks after my miscarriage..but with my progesterone level the dr says no i didnt.. and i've never missed them before with my other 2..so i'm so confused at this point. I asked for progesterone and she said to call if i get a positive on a pregnancy test and they'll check my levels right away and see if i need it.. but also said since my level is low i havent ovulated anyways.
Thank you! any help..opinions..advice would be so welcomed!:)
