was just wondering at what stage of ur pregnancy did u book ur hospital appointment
I think I was 16 weeks with DS.
7 months or so with DD1 & about 7 months with DD2 as well.
1st pregnancy 20 weeks
this pregnancy - 20 weeks
My Dr booked me in when I went to see her at 8 wks. But you normally don't have your first 'booking in' appointment with them until 16wks.
i was told to ring back @ 12 weeks, which i thought maybe a lil soon.
I booked in at around 8 weeks as I was told it gets booked out quickly where I am. Had my first appointment to confirm everything at 14 weeks. I guess it depends where you're wanting to go?
My Ob will do all this for me when i see her in 4 weeks.
Her rooms are linked to the hospital she delivers at.
I suppose it works differently everywhere. For me, I went and saw a doctor when I first thought I was pregnant, and she referred me to the antenatal clinic at the local hospital. I received a letter in the mail telling me of my first "booking in" appointment, which was at about 12 weeks. Because I have all my check-ups, etc at the hospital, the booking in is kind of automatic. I think it probably works differently at different places, and probably depends on what kind of care you have - GP, midwives, etc. If you're worried, ring up your hospital and just ask them what the procedure for it all is. Hope this helps :).
My hospital woulndt ccept bookings till 20 weeks - my first appt will be at 31 weeks, bit peeved at that actually!
i was 12 weeks. My hospital rushed me in as they have an appointment at 12 weeks!
However with DD i didnt have my 1st appoitnment at the hospital (different one obviously) until 28 weeks.
SO i think best you ring and check
i would be too kitt3n
i wanted to book ASAP like make an appt for 12 weeks. ah i guess its only a week after my scans but still...
i did ring....and was told to ring back @ 12weeks
I was told by my GP to decide where I wanted to go and if it was private, you are better off ringing sooner than later to make a booking as they book up. So I had my OB appointment, blood test done and everything booked by 8 weeks. but as everyone said, it all depends where you want to go.
i started seeing my midwife at 5 weeks and she booked me in to see the OB at the hospital at 20 weeks.
so i was booked in for my 20 week hospital check at 5 weeks. I also seen my midwife at 8,13,16,19 weeks too..
I got told on the hossy tour to book asap, I think I was 13-14 weeks when I booked it
I called at 5 weeks and was first seen at 12 weeks with this bub.
DD2 i booked in at 7 weeks and was seen at 12 weeks
DD1 booked into my first hospital (in NSW) at 12 weeks...seen at 18 weeks.
I booked at 14 weeks and was told that was almost too late! Must depend on the hospital I guess! With Izzy it was around 6 weeks.
last time i rang and registered at 6 weeks and had my booking in appt at 12 weeks.
this time i rang at 4 weeks and they seemd in shock that anyone would ring so early. I've still hear nothing back from them, supposedly they will mail me out an appt and some info, but not til close to my appt. I dont uinderstand why they cant send it to me early, even it the appt is not til 12 weeks, so i at least know Im properly registered
With Darcy we booked both public and private hospitals. The private I had to book straight away at 12 weeks as they get booked out and won't accept any more patients once they're full. The public I didn't get an appointment with until 20 weeks.
This time we're in a little country town. There is only one hossy, so I think I'd be able to book into there right up until I go into labour lol. However they like to see you from 12 weeks right after your NT scan.
With Jovi I went to my GP at 8 weeks when I found out and she gave me a referral to the ante natel clinic and they wouldn't see me until I was 16 weeks ... from memory. But anything that had to be done before that my GP took care of (blood tests, NT scan etc).
I assume it will be the same for this one ...
1st pregnancy - pretty much the first appointment we went in for the checkup, that was abt 12wks i think
2nd pregnancy - 14wks from memory but it varies from each doc/hospital so be sure to ask them.
I rang the hospital within a few days of finding out I was pregnant. I wanted to see the team midwives and I was told they booked out quickly! Well, I called BEFORE i was even 5 weeks pregnant and even then, they were fully booked out!! ARGH, what are people booking in before they've even conceived??!!!
So I went to the antenatal clinic instead (horrible, horrible, never again) and had my first appointment at 10 weeks. This was just to book in and so they could take a detailed medical history. I didnt start my actual apointments until I was 20 weeks and I only had about 5 appointments during my whole pregnancy.
