I've been looking at those Oi Oi nappy bags at David Jones / Myer and baby stores and they are gorgeous!! I like the Oi Oi Black Charcoal Dot Messenger....But sooooo expensive :redface: been hinting DH to get me one for Christmas ;)
What nappy bag do you own and what did you pay for it? And what do you recommend?
I was looking at the cheap $40 ones at Kmart.... they any good?? :doh: it's just a bag isnt' it???
Hey Ren! I have a kapoochi milan satchel (blue). It's great, has good pockets inside, change mat, wet bag, hook thingy for keys, separate zippered compartment for wallet, phone, keys, insulated compartments on both ends of the bag too. I paid $120 for mine. I like the Oi Oi ones too but couldn't justify spending that much and I wanted something that wasn't too feminine so DP could carry around too without looking silly! :)
The one i like (Oi Oi) is $130 so i suppose that isnt too bad i guess..... cant' justify spending more than that.... its Black and green on the inside. Be nice for Dh to use too.
Just wondering if it's worth spending the money i guess seeing as it's something we will be using ALOT huh?

Also OiOi herrignbone hobo charcoal tweed.
I love my oioi but doesnt hold as much due to shape but fits enough if u dont put wallet etc in it also.
I have 2 changes of clothes 4 nappies, wipes, nappy sacks, change mat, ds jumper and a blanket

I got another bag off ebay - and I use that when just having to take out Miss M - otherwise I take DS's backpack cos the cloth nappies I take don't fit in my nappy bag with all the other crap!!
I wanted an oi oi too, but was unable to see one IRL. DH chose one from Target, for about $50. I really like it, so does DH obviously. I don't use it nearly as often as I thought I would, so would have been upset spending the money on an oi oi with the amount of use this one gets.

Have you tried Sportsgirl? My BF came over today and she has a 4mth old, and she had the coolest sportsgirl bag that she uses as a nappy bag.
I found with Kapoochi and Oioi (which i have both of) every second mother had one......:doh:
Nic - i see nothing but Oi Oi bags in all the baby stores, Myer everywhere! I'm surprised you haven't seen one IRL? They seem to be so popular in stores... maybe it's just where i live.
Maybe i could buy a nice expensive one and then a cheap one.... do you need two?!?! LOL one for the car.... one for everywhere else? or is that a bit excessive.

I have an Isoki reversable in the old style and i love it! Its fantastic for getting heaps of mcns in :) It is a little pricey at $180 (I think) but we plan on having more than one child so its money well spent I say! It goes form green pretty pattern to balck so Dh can have it and not look too girly lol!
We also have a chicpea one in the retro cowboy which is cute for small trips but it doesnt go over the handle bar of the bugaboo so i cant use when using the pram iykwim?
I say get one you know will last you even if it is a bit expensive and make sure its big enough for your MCNs

I bought the KAPOOCHI one from BigW, think I paid $119 for it, it is excellent and I love it!!! Wouldn't go with any other bag, go and have a look anyway and see what you think, I have the red one!!
Ren, I have my kapoochi fully stocked so if we are going swimming or to the rellies or out anywhere for a few hours, I take that one.
If I'm just going down to the shops, I take my handbag (a Guess medium sized one). I was given this pouch thingy which holds a couple of nappies and wipes. This fits in my handbag nicely.
Hope you don't mind me crashing your thread Renstar :D but I to have been looking for a good Nappy Bag...Really love the look of the Vanchi Brocade Messenger Bag in Onyx / Ebony Lining...and just wondering if anyone has one of these?? It looks really nice and pretty reasonably priced as well.. but also looks like it could be a PITA to clean cos of the type of material.......any thoughts??
I wound up with an abundance of nappy bags. I had an Oi Oi (the black & charcoal dot hobo), which broke, got replaced by Myers (I didn't have the receipt so it was very nice of them to do that), broke again, and I decided to get an Isoki (which I looooove).
But then I also rang Oi Oi to let them know that the bag had broken twice in the same way, in case it was a design fault and they needed to look into it. Explained that I didn't have a receipt so wasn't expecting a replacement or anything, I just wanted to let them know what the problem was.
Turned out they already knew, it had been a manufacturing problem which had been resolved through a new manufacturer for the buckle, and they replaced the bag no questions asked. Excellent customer service. In hindsight, I probably should have rang them before I bought my Isoki, but anyway... The Isoki fits heaps more stuff in it than the Oi Oi hobo, but has the disadvantage of being heavier.
So now I have three nappy bags. :redface: 1 x brand new unused Oi Oi (the replacement), 1 x used, broken and repaired (by DP) Oi Oi, and my Isoki (new style), which is what gets used as my everyday bag now.
I have two nappy bags. One red one (no idea of the brand, haven't used it in ages, its in Steph's room and she has *just* gone to sleep) which is basically a change mat with pockets either side that when folded up looks like a satchel. That one is great for when Steph was a real bub. THe other bag, is from Big W I think (must confess, I got it from the Salvos for $2.75. I feel a bit :redface: mentioning that in the company of your +$100 bags... I think I saw it in their catalogue for around $40?). It has insulated bottle pockets at either end, an attached pocket inside that you can't loose, folded padded change mat (which I don't carry around, as I don't normally need it, instead it lives in the car), several pockets inside and out, and enough room to take several nappies, changes of clothes, bibs, clothes, wipes, and containers of food. And it has LONG handles that makes it easy to pick up and put over your shoulder when you have a bub in the other hand.
In the boot of the car, I have a green bag in a crate that has more nappies, clothes, wipes, and the change mat, as well as towels, and water (its AWFUL when they vomit in the car!)

I have got a KAPOOCHI CLASSIC CARRY ALL - and i absolutly LOVE it - it cost $110 and has always been my dream nappy bag! hj, i too have that one, just AWESOME!!!!! i can also put DD's bottles in either side and it keeps the milk cold as it is insulated, too good!

Justine, I picked up a vanchi messenger bag for $60 at an expo recently. :D
Obviously, my baby isn't here yet, but I'm looking forward to being able to use it. It has lots of pockets and really is HUGE inside! We got the blue one, and despite it being floral, it's the one DH really liked.
I spoke to the woman at the expo at length about what the fabric is like to care for. She recommends surface washing only, and says that it does come clean pretty easily. She also said that even though she doesn't recommend it, she has put an entire bag through the washing machine and had it come up ok.

We bought a crumpler from the Crumpler shop in Collingwood (also avail. in cycling shops). They have a HUGE array of different sizes, shapes and colors. My reasoning behind this was that I could get exactly the color I wanted, and I would use this bag much longer after we are no longer using a pram. I wanted a nappy bag that didn't look like one. We just put a nappy wallet inside and the bag itself has heaps of different sized pockets etc.
All of the clips etc. have a lifetime guarantee and the bags go into theh washing machine and come out looking as good as new. This is actually my third and my oldest which is about 10 years old but was too small for a nappy bag still looks like new.
If money is no object they also custom make in whatever color combo you want but this was a bit out of reach for me....
It's not the usual choice, but since buying one, I'm starting to notice a few other mums around using them as well.
Ren - I've actually got an 'urban originals' brand bag that I bought from DJ's (just the normal hand bag section). Sure it doesn't have a heap of pockets (does have 3 small ones on the inside one of which has a zip which would be good for phone purse etc) but I was just going to use a small toiletry bag for bub's stuff (nappies & creams) then everything else I'll just throw in (rug/muslin, toy etc). It's really stylish and I just loved it when I saw it. It has a nice leather strap but it's not too girly so DH wouldn't look silly if he flung it over his shoulder. There are heaps to pick from aren't there! Good luck, am sure you'll make the best decision for you.

This is my first post on BB in 6 months!!
I saw this post and thought i'd just quickly mention what i did, because I didn't have a nappy bag until after Mia was born, I just couldn't justify spending over $100 on a cr@ppy polyester bag that was made in China and probably cost $2 to make!! In the end I found I had SOOO much stuff that I needed for her even just going to the shops, that I ended up using one of those huge recyclable bags you get from Toys R Us, it was great, because it virtually weighed nothing, and had big straps i could hook over the pram handle....
I only bought a proper nappy bag about 3 months ago from Target, on sale for $20!! I wouldn't worry about spending a lot on a nappy bag babe, just get a cheap one that does the job ;-)

I checked out Oi Oi bags ranging from $79 up to $330 :o today at a baby store on my way home and I'm going back to take DH with me Saturday to check them out together see what he thinks.... I'm so undecided!! I'm happy to spend up to $100 on a bag..... don't think I should spend more than that really...we can afford to, money isnt the issue, its just that i'd rather put that money elsewhere!!! LOL like on more MCNs ;)

If you are wanting to hang your nappy bag on your pram then you need to take the pram type into consideration. Most nappy bags when full would've tipped my pram over so I went for a small one from Kmart. It was their own brand one and came with feeding stuff & a bib. Cheap as. I love it. It also doesn't take up much room in the car & I can fit everything I need for a full day out despite having a happy chucker who needs to be changed heaps.
I have bought a red nappy bag to go with the pram i have purchase but now i wish i had thought about it a little more cause i would have just looked around for a normal bag that you can just chuck everything in and something not everyone has...i don't like having something everyone else has, kinda something original or even homemade i say!

I had a really expensive one bought for me and I never used it. I carry a Thomas the Tank Engine kids backpack I got for $20 and it fits all my stuff too. But i travel pretty light...

Well, last night while cleaning and tidying bubs' nursery, I came across a spare bag (satchel type) that I never use and got over in Malaysia couple of years ago..... it's a really good deep bag with one zip to open and a nice big sling shoulder on it to put around the pram and i can adjust the height of it so how it sits over the pram if that makes sense.... (how low it hangs iykwim) I'm gonna use it!!! Figured, why spend $100 or more on a bag when i've got this one to use!!! :dance:
Plus, when bubs is born and if i do decide to get a proper nappy bag by that stage then i can but this will work a treat for now...... it's also nice and light (thanks Satya, thats a great idea about making sure its not too heavy to tip the pram over!!)
Rather spend that $100 on more MCNs :dance:
