i'm pretty sure Nicambhar had a thread a little while ago about the strider 4...
I had a Steelcraft Strider 3 and it was good but I found the front wheel used to stick a bit. Got it fixed under warranty and then sold it on ebay. We bought the URBAN MOUNTAIN BUGGY recently and it's awesome but quite pricey.
I have a strider 4 and I love it!
The only con in my eyes is the back wheels are wide, I went to a Kmart once (cranbourne) and it would not fit through the register, this is the only time this has happened though.
Everything else about the pram I really like though. If I had to buy a pram again I would buy the same one. It folds easy, I love the way you can turn the toddler seat to face you or to face outwards (DD has been in the toddler seat since she was 3 and a half months), you can lay it back to almost flat for sleeping or sit upright, plenty of space underneath for shopping etc.
Any other specific things you want to know I am happy to answer.

We have a strider 4. I love it.
When we went pram looking, I didn't want to buy a pram, so it was more DH looking than me, but this is the one he liked.
We had to get something that was wide across the back, as the one we had with DD, DH would always kick the wheels.
The handle extension is good, as DH is taller, so he extends it out when he is using it, and I just push it back in when i use it.
We got the matching foot muff, as DS was a winter bub, and it kept him nice and snug and warm.
We both love how it pulls apart. Our house is highset, so I can take the frame down and open it out, then take the seat part down separately. After DS was born, and DH went back to work, I was walking DD to school. It was easy enough for me to get it down and upstairs after my c/s.
It turns so nicely (The selling point for DH I believe) I could walk DD to school and push and steer with one hand. I've heard some people say it's horrible to steer, but I think it is fantastic!
DH also loves how the wheels can be removed. When we have the car packed to th max, he takes the wheels off so we can fit the pram in a whole lot easier.
I didn't want to buy the bassinette part of it, so we just got the foot muff. I still have the bottom part of the foot muff attached to the pram.
I emailed britax a couple of months ago and asked if they made a sun shade/cover for the strider, to which they told me no, and that I would just have to buy a one fits all size. I think the new strider deluxe, comes with a sun shade?
The only thing I have a dislike for is the brake. I find it a little hard to lift with my foot - which honestly is a good thing, at least you know it won't take off on you! I have to keep reaching down to let the brake off. but that is such a picky thing, it's no biggie really.
The main reason the strider appealed to me, was we could turn DS around to face us or face out, without having to move the handle.
The storage is a little less than I had with DD's pram, but I'm getting use to it. I just have to learn how to pack it a bit better - or maybe not buy so many groceries when I go in with the pram!
The only downside to the storage, is the bar that goes across, it makes it a little difficult to pack some green bags of groceries in it, but like I said, I tend to go overboard when i was meant to only go in for a few groceries! I can get 3-4 bags of green enviro bags in there, depending on what groceries I have.
Can't think of anything else at the moment, will come back if i think of something else :)

Does anyone know if the new strider delux comes with the car capsule or do you have to buy it seperately?
Does it say anything on their website?
I know there was a thread about the deluxe..

It doesnt give an exact answer. Just says the seat, capsule and bassinette are interchangable.
The basic pram comes with the seat and footmuff. The capsule and bassinet need to be bought separately if you want them.

the capsule is a seperate purchase, as is i believe, the bassinette
from what i can gather from looking, capsule is 299, strider deluxe 599. hven't been able to locate a price as yet for the bassinette. have't looked too hard though to be honest
I just did a quick google, and found it online at a place called, The Baby Place, it's a dot net, not com. They have the carrier for $249, the bassinette for $149, and the pram for $499. :)

Only $18 to deliver a strider pram to Sydney - who'd have thunk that shipping a pram from Adelaide could possibly turn out cheaper than buying locally, but it certainly seems to be the case.

i've just messaged them to see how much the delivery out here is (seeing i'm by no means "metro") - and how long the sale will last as that's a huge saving!
That is a great bargain! Though i am a bit iffy about buying it over the net, incase it got damaged somehow.
Perhaps we should also ask about warranties and what happens in the case of needing repairs, etc.
It is a huge bargain, though... and in our case where we have decided that's the pram we want...

The only concern I had (and the reason I didn't buy the strider) was that the metal part at the front looks fine for a baby, but as soon as they get longer it will be in the way. Kind of hard to explain, but if you look at the pram, the curved bit where newborn bubs feet will be near.... It seems too short to me, so once bub gets bigger it will be sitting behind their calves with their feet mid-air. Hope that makes sense???

Anthea, I have the strider4 and have had a lot of trouble with the damned wheels. The first pram was bent out of shape and all of the wheels didn't touch the ground, my second pram has dodgy wheels too and it rides like I have a flat tyre and Bella gets really tossed around. I got send ? new wheel on Friday so will put it on and see if it makes a diff.
I do really love it otherwise, and the only other thing that is a pain is the width. I always have to put my grogeries up and run across to the express exit to get out.
Oh, another thing that bugs me, sorry, is havin to dismantle it all the time, I wish it were just a collapsable unit.

Nic, it seems that some people have no end of trouble with the striders, others never have any issues at all.
I think we're just going to go for it and hope for the best. We won't be using it over rough ground a lot, but really want the extra height for where bubs is sitting, the adjustable handle and the possibility of having a rear facing seat. Nothing else comes close anywhere within our price range.

Nic, I'm sure when we bought ours, the sales lady collapsed it whole. I think DH did it once when we were home too?

i have the cheaper version a Childcare Hola . The Bassanet & Seat are one Piece u just ajust it with clips and buttons . worth a look if your budget consious .
Yeah i have seen it collapse without having to dismantle it.
well I'm a dumb a$$, I didn't read the manual and it does collapse whole.... It's damned huge though and takes up the whole boot of my 4wd.. The sales lady said that I had to take it apart to collapse it :rolleyes:
Nic, When the sales lady collapsed it in the shop for us, she took the seat part off after she had collapsed it whole, it looked like it was a bit easier to separate after it was collapsed whole...if that makes any sense?
