Breastfeeding Singlets - Bonds, Glamourmom etc....

Has anyone tried and tested the different brands?

I live in singlets as it is, so I figure I will need a few..... what have people tried, and what were the different brands like in comparison (wash, comfort, ease etc?)

I've got a couple of Glamourmom & find them really comfy. They seem to fit well with the changing bust size - I was wearing them when I went up to an E cup and still now at a C cup. I just check them in the machine and wash with all our other clothes. Never tried the Bonds one sorry.

I have some Target ones & Bonds ones which are pretty much the same, the Bonds ones have the bra hooks at the back, but the Target ones don't have any. I prefer the fabric of the Target ones, it seems better quality to me, otherwise same same.

I tried the bonds ones but cause they had padding it was quite painfull when my milk came in. I ended up getting the Glamourmum ones, they are great. They are expensive but well worth it! They have no padding so it didnt hurt as much! also the glammourmum ones can come in long length which was great to cover up with, I found the binds ones a bit short in the body!

i like the loveable ones- have you seen those? i think you can get them from myer, zodee- places like that. they are super comfy and easy to bfeed in.

i had some BOOB ones - they were fab! i wore them as normal tops and also under other tops - eas access, comfy and flattering. also v easy to wash etc.

I live in my Bonds ones, and have quite a few and wear them day and night... I am a singlet gal too... Have worn one every day for years.... I have not tried any others.

I've been looking for some bf singlets but not had any luck - I find they all lack enough support for my boobs. So far I've tried the lovable and bonds ones but not bought any. Seems silly to buy special breastfeeding tops and then have to wear a maternity bra under them anyway so ill hold off till I find something more supportive. Maybe I'll give the target ones a try next time I'm near a store!

I have tried both Bonds and Target singlets and love them both! I probably prefer Bonds though. BTW, the cheapest place to buy them that I have found is Big W.

I have ordered a couple of the glamourmom ones, to see how they go.

target here seems to be really slack in the maternity department - I went last week but they only had one size, and two different colours!

i'll keep an eye our for bonds and loveable - where can you get the loveable ones, I cant find them on line?

brunette - I hope to wear them without a bra, i hate maternity bras, the staps are so thick, hence stocking up on soem singlets with the in built bra/shelving. May nto be the best shape, but hey my boobs arent for that kind of showing anymore LOL!!!

Top Secret Maternity tops, many of their styles are what i would call singlet tops (spaghetti straps). i like their privacy layer. more expensive but i think it would have been worth it IF i had bought them at the START of our breastfeeding journey.

i have been wearing the Lovable Maternity Camisoles, drop down cups, inbuilt shelf bra type. i bought them from brasnthings and innerwear warehouse, plus mother's direct (ABA website) stock them i think. anyhoo, i was a DD and am now a C, suppport is ok. but i am after a feeding top with more privacy now. The lovable singlets do hide your tummy, but expose the top of your breast.

recently i went searching, checked out
- Bonds Maternity Singlet - has inbuilt soft cups, nothing at the back for support
- Target Maternity Singlet - had actual maternity bra sewn into it, i found it difficult to do up the hooks, under the back of the singlet. Felt awkward when i put cups down, like the soft cups were getting in the way of feeding.
i didn't like either enough to buy them.

nursing wear had more bf-ing singlets (and bf-ing tankinis too).
whimsey is another site i saw.

ended up getting bf-ing collared tops at nuvo maternity, two for $80, you wear maternity bra UNDERNEATH them, they have a trick front, and hole at nipple line to feed from. this way, my tummy AND top of breast is covered. They have a cap sleeve - for those of us with bigger tops of arms.

moms in mind is another place to look (singapore site).

Gigi- wow, thankyou for that - i just checked out top secret - but the things I like are on clearance and there are none left in my size!

I agree though - one or two pieces like that and a few singlets should see me through my breastfeeding journey. i'll bookmark that one!

I ordered some singlets yesterday afternoon from nursingwear and they have already arrived!

Cheaper than in the stores too! Great quality cotton too, I am a very happy girl today!

Kitten, can you put down a review of them please? (if you have time).

like brand, type of feeding access, how userfriendly to use when you're holding your child, how supportive they are, etc.

would love to hear your thoughts on whatever you got from NursingWear. There are a few items i am interested in on that site too.

i have the bonds, lovable and topsecretmaternity singlets.
i like the TSM for feeding because they do not expose your whole breast, unlike bonds and maternity, where you undo the to and pull it down to expose boob to feed bub. the TSM keeps the top of your boob covered. but i prefer the fabric and the fit of bonds and lovable best. as far as fit goes i prefer bonds, and i like that they are padded as they give the breast a nice shape, i find that once you put a breast pad in, with the other tops, you get a funny lumpy look to the breast which i hate. with bonds you get a nice smooth shape :-)
none of them offer a lot of suport, today i went for a long walk with bub and was wearing the TSM top and my boobs were jiggling as i walked and i thought, great, now i will have double the saggy boobs, due to breastfeeding AND exercising without support.

incidentally, has anyone come across any breastfeeding sports bras?!

ETA the lovable ones are the most comfy in terms of fabric and i sleep in them.

I got three of the glamourmom ones - $52.45 at nursingwear, elsewhere I had seen the for $60 -$70 ($70 was actually in stores). If you spend over $100 its free shipping in AU too :)

For a mini review - not breastfeeding yet!

2 of them I bought the longer version. I normally like a bit of a longer singlet so I thought this would be the go. Also thought this would be great for when sitting/getting up wth bubs in arm - not having to worry that it is riding up....

I cannot comment on how they wash - havent yet done this. BUT - the fabric is just lovely, a good strong cotton and I am pretty sure they will wash very well.

Very easy to snap down with one hand & snap back up, could do it first try.

Generous top of booby coverage when snapped down.

Pretty good shape, I was actually suprised! I did not think I would get such a nice shape from them, but very happy. And as the cotton is lovely and soft I can feel that they will be very comfy once milk comes in. I am normally a D cup and ATM obviously bigger! When the front is clipped up nice round shape. Once that is let down, boobie gets a pointy shape - but thats only for feeding so all good :)

For now, thats about all the review I can give. But as I said I live in singlets, (I have a bout half a dozen normal ones, and often run out in summer!) so I am pretty sure I'll end up trying a couple of others too. I'll pop back in here with more info when I can :)

eta- agadoo, I am pretty sure I saw some breastfeeding sports bras in dj's - have you tried there?

Kitten - how did you pick yoru SIZE at Nursingwear site?

they just put "standard size 10,12, 14 etc" for sizing chart - i dont' believe there ARE any standard sizes. i am in about four different sizes for tops, depending wehre i shop, so that is no help to me. i've tried emailing their contact person (Tom) who is not much help. so how did you work out which size to buy?

it's expensive to pay to send garment back to them, and pay for it to be sent to you. three lots of postage it ends up being, to get one thing the right size.

gigi, I just went for i guess what is my "average" size at the moment (being pregnant I dont think i really have a size!).

So, depending on cuts, I am usually a M/L (medium at the top and large at the bottom) .... atm L/XL, so I just went for the large....

Each brand is going to vary too

What do you ladies recommend for people with larger breasts? I was a 14DD but have just been fitted and bought some maternity bras and am now a 14G. I'm looking for something that is supportive yet comfy

When I was in Myer I found some really good bonds inner support singlets ( i believe this to be the name) but they only went up to a D cup, I'm only an E at the moment so thought it mightfit but no luck! Such a shame they werent bigger else I could recommend them to you !

Yeah i saw them in David Jones yesterday but knew that there was no hope with them only going up to a D cup. I'm happy to buy stuff online, but usually like to try things on first, so would love to get some recommendations so i can order and then send back what i don't need

Just subscribing to this old thread to help me with my shopping this time around.

I used Bonds singlets last time and liked them enough to buy 4 and live in them for my BFing journey. I didn't find the cups perfect though and I'm thinking of trying some Glamourmum ones this time too. I've grown since last time and my old ones were worn to death so I think I need a new stash now.

meow, I really liked Bonds but really wanted something with more support. I bought a few of the Target brand breastfeeding singlets and LOVE them! They are like Bonds but have an adjustable back strap (can't think of the right name... it's like that bra strap with a few different lengths so you can make it tighter or looser). Go and try them on at Target, i really like them and they are comparable in price to Bonds :)

Thanks. I've never noticed Target ones and I saw them mentioned in this thread. I will try them- I need more support now too. Stop growing!!! Thank heavens we're not having more children I don't think I could cope with my boobs growing bigger every pregnancy!
