A little bit smaller!
7lb8oz and 51cm vs 7lb2oz and 49cm.
They both weighed exactly the same, 2.9kg, although Jordie was 2 weeks early and Beth was born on her edd
1st was 7lb 4
2nd 6lb 15
3rd 6lb 10
#1 was 9lb 7oz, 50cms, girl.
#2 was 9lb, 55cms, boy.
#1 - boy - 8 pounds 2.5 oz - 54cm long
#2 - girl - 8 pounds 11.5 oz - 53cm long (I ate a HEAP of chocolate when pregnant with her though ;))
Both girls were born on their due dates and weighed 8lb 7oz, they were both 52cm long too!! DS was 2 1/2 weeks early and was 50cm and 8lb 3oz so I think he would've been bigger than the girls.
I haven't had my 2nd... but I'm not liking the trend... I really want a bigger baby please!
#1 - DS 9pd 2oz - 56cms long - 1 week early
#2 - DD 7pd 14oz - 51cms long - 1 day late
#3 - DS 8pd 1oz - 53 cms long - 10 days early
My first was my biggest!! ;) - although #3 would have been a good size if I had of gone over I think :)
Number 1 = DS, 8lb 14oz, 8 days late
Number 2 = DD, 9lb 14oz, 10 days late
DD weighed 7lb 12oz 11 days overdue
DS weighed 9lb 12 days overdue
Love how we still measure babies in lb's and oz's!!!
DD 7lb 13oz - born 10 days post dates
DS 8lb 10oz - born 10 days post dates
DS grew a lot quicker, gained weight a LOT faster and has been a much bigger baby than DD generally. But in our case, I think it's to do with gender and genetics - his dad is a big guy too.
My DD was 3.64kg and 55cm, born 37+3weeks (induced).
My DS was 4.13kg and 56cm, born 40+3 weeks (natural).
I would say that had she been born on her due date or when ready, DD would have been bigger than DS.
First was 8lb 4oz 53cm
Second was 9lbs 5oz and 55.5cm
Last was 11lbs and 55cm
bub 1- 8lb'10oz 52cm girl 40wks
bub 2 - 8lb 2.5oz 50cm girl 39wks 6days
Bub (1) 3.4kg ,51cm two weeks late,induced labour.boy
Bub (2) 3.6kg,53cm two weeks late,induced labour.boy
Bub (3) 3kg,50cm one week late also induced labour. girl YAY!!
Bub (4) 3.6kg,51.5cm came on his due date! boy
Bub (5( 3.7kg,53cm was delivered by C-Section. boy
1st - 7lb 5oz (i think) - 48cms, girl, born on original due date
2nd - 7lb 10oz, 50 cms, boy, born exactly 1 week early.
My first was 7lb 3oz, 51 cm - born at 36 weeks.
My second was 8lbs even, 51cm born at 38 weeks.
I don't know if sex has any bearing as I've only had boys but mine got smaller.
DS1 8lb 3oz
DS2 8lb 1and half oz
DS3 8lb 1oz
DS4 7lb 4oz
DS5 7lb 11oz
hugs xoxo
I was told by my Scottish midwife that I had with my first two (she was old school too - she's nearly 70) that generally if your second is a boy, then they can be bigger, but if a girl, more likely to be smaller. But it's one of those things that you just can't predict - you went way overdue with L, and were induced, but this time you might go earlier and he could in theory be smaller, cause he wasn't in there as long, but there is no way of knowing until they are born.
As you know for me, DS was 9lb 3.5ozs and 56 cm, one day early, but DD was only 8lb 8ozs and 52 cm one day late.
#1 was 7lb 4oz, 48cm and girl
#2 was 7lb 13oz, 52cm and girl
So only 200gm and 4 cm difference
ds1= 9lb 7 1/2 oz 51 cms long
ds2= 7lb 14 oz 49 cms long
dd= 7lb 4 oz 48 cms long
DD 8lb 13oz, 53cm long 41+1 weeks
DS 7lb 3oz, 51.5cm long 39+2 weeks
I'll make this a poll for you.
My second was smaller. 1st was 6lbs10, 2nd 5lbs15oz
First baby: Girl, 7 lbs 10 (10 days post due date)
Second baby: Boy, 8 lbs 8 (10 days post due date)
Third baby: Boy, 9 lbs exactly (induced at 37 weeks)
not me but my sis:
1*nephew -6lb 4oz - 8 days late
2*niece -5lb 15oz - 2 days early
so in her case her second baby was a lower weight - she had alot more fluid with anais tho.

#1 - DS 6lb 11oz - born 40 weeks
#2 - DS 7lb 13oz - born 38 weeks
#3 - DS 8lb 2.5oz - born 37 weeks
1. DD1 - 7lb 5oz, 50cm, hc 34.3cm, Born 41+1
2. DD2 - 8lb 9oz, 50cm, hc 34.5cm, Born 41
3. DS - 8lb 7.5oz, 52cm, hc 36cm, Born 39+5
Both boys, born a couple of days before 40 weeks, #1 was 9 pound 4, and #2 was 7 pound 9. They look very different though, obviously got a variety of genes we're passing on! :D
I think , as Trill says, it's just luck luck luck...
#1 DS was 8lb 9oz (2 days over)
#2 DD was 7lb 12oz (3 days over)
1st was born 39 weeks weighing 8lb 13oz
2nd was born 37 weeks weighing 9lb 14oz (gd with insulin though)
DD#1 50cm, 3.52kgs, HC 35.5cm - 5 days OD
DD#2 51cm, 3.63kgs, HC 35cm - 9 days OD
What I've found really interesting is that they have both grown at the same rate - there is still that 100grams difference in weight at each MCHN check up.
DS1 - 3.735kg at 41+1, 51cm long, HC 33cm
DS2 - 3.965 kg at 41+1, 52 cm long, HC 34cm
My obs predicted my second would be a couple of hundred grams heavier and he was spot on!
Isabelle was 8lb 13oz - 3995grams 50cms 11 days late induced c/s
James was 10lb - 4560grams 54 cms 14 days late c/s
thanks for all your replies, it's very interesting isn't it?
thanks for making it a poll too kelly
i think you're right trillian, it seems that it may just come down to luck in the end. i think people are just scaring me into thinking that based on ds's stats, this one is going to be a wombat.
And you can't just assume based on belly size alone (which is what they are all going on I bet) because there are too many variables, like fluid amount, looser stomach muscles not holding it in as well and just plain old 'because'
Ds was 3500g
DD was 3495g
DD2 was 3500g
so all about the same... I thought it was normal to have them all the same size but as I can see witht he poll maybe not...
Now I understand when I had DD2 why midwife commented on how I have all average size bubs...
Sorry I have no idea what this is in "old scale " but I think they are all about 8lb so I get nice fat bubs just wish they would stay that way both girls were Fail to thrive  they looked ok to me!
DS2 was exactly 1 pound lighter than DS1. But he was 3 1/2 weeks early, so most likely he'd have been bigger had he stayed put a bit longer.
DD1 was 3580g - 7lb 13.5oz 52 cm
DD2 was 3350g - 7lb 6oz (i think) and 52 cm. I had gastro at 38 weeks and she has had issues with lactose her whole life, so she got much skinnier before she got fatter, and now she is heavier than Sarah was at her age. There is only a couple of kg between them now.
