My poor little bubba :(
Miss M is constipated. Badly.
She was squealing before when trying to do a poo - it nearly broke my heart she was squealing in pain like that
I helped her get the offending poo out - it was huge - and hard like a rock. And there was a bit of blood on it :crying:
I've boiled some prunes and put some of the juice in some boiled water - does anyone know how long that takes to start working?
-
Oh the poor thing :(. I remember DS1 used to get terribly constipated as a baby and would scream in agony when he tried to poo, it was so distressing.
I never tried the prune juice so I have no idea how long it will take to work, hopefully very soon! I used to give DS1 Coloxyl drops that worked pretty well, but took about 24 hours to take affect.
 I hope she feels better soon.
-
Prune juice should take anywhere from 2-24hrs, depends on the concentration and how sensitive she is to it.
I hope she feels better soon...
I'll take half the constipation and give you half of MJ's runns (she has gastro) and hopefully they can pass normal poo's bewteen them :(
Hope it works quickly for her
-
Oh poor Miss M  hope she gets better very soon
-
Thanks guys - she passed some liquid just before (poor DH - she got it on the thomas couch cover that he only just put back on it this morning from washing it from when DS did a wee on it!) so I would say that she is quite sensitive to prune juice - think it was about 10 minutes!! She still screamed in pain though, so I think its a little sensitive down there - poor little thing!!!
Trish - its horrible to hear them isn't it.. :(
SJ - Yup I'll be in that - gastro would sound heavenly at the moment...
TL - thanks babe *mwah*

Sometimes if they go from having very hard poos to having liquid, they are still constipated. The hard poo is still stuck in their intestines & all that can pass through is the liquid (because it can go past the hard poo that is stuck). See how she goes - I guess I'd be looking for volume of poo to make sure that the hard bits have softened and passed through as well.
-
Thanks Ezz, yeah there wasn't much liquid that came out.
-
put some sudacrem round her back passage mel...it helps...sorry if iv offended. hope she feels better soon if that doesnt work go the chemist and ask for something for her...sorry not much help.
love rach xxx
-
Thanks Rach - i've been applying moogoo cos I thought it might help with healing, or just the coolness or whatever. I don't actually use sudocream (cloth nappies ya see) but I think we may have a tester or something around here that I may have to try and dig up...
-
good i really hope it eases soon its horrible especially for a baby...its horrible for you and her.
let us know how she goes.
love rach xx
-
awww i hope she gets better soon! lotsa hugs baby girl!
-
Oh poor little mite......
Iv'e never had a constipated baby, all b/f, but Kane had REALLY bad constipation and EXTREMELY hard poo's after all the meds from his op...
and it was horrible.... the crying and trying to get out these massive, hard poo's, its soooo heartbreaking.....
hugs for mum and bub..... :grouphug:
-
Thanks guys. She is sleeping now - so hopefully her bowels start working more with the prune juice - dunno how much to give her though - just gave her a little bit out of a sippy cup cos she wasn't touching her milk from the bottle.
-
Aww poor Miss M, hope she sleeps for a while and things lossen up for her soon!
-
Poor Jas was like that last night.....she was screaming and shaking it hurt so bad coming out...and it was like a huge boulder (sp) when it came out. My problem is she hates drinking anything but formula so i do leg exercises with her to help move things along.
If it comes to it, you can buy Coloxyl drops for kids that help!
-
Yeah I've heard about those drops..
Hopefully she will be ok (bit worried about the blood that came out with the rock though)
-
wouldnt infants friend do the trick?
-
Dunno holly - maybe? She's already on homeopathic drops for her silent reflux so I don't really want to give her any other drops which are mainly for wind issues.
She is still sleeping so at least she doesn't appear to be overly unsettled.
-
Arimeh - we use Coloxyl drops for Bianca - and they are really great - u can just get them over the counter and dont cost too much - its not nice when they are constipated is it? poor bubba's!
-
The blood could be from the hard bit , maybe it torn the skin around the opening, just a thought.
Hope she gets better soon.
hugs xoxo
-
Poor lil' darling, I hope the prune juice works fast lovely.
-
Mel - this might sound strange but try a teaspoon of brown sugar in her next bottle. The hospital me told to do that when K was constipated.
Works every time for him!
-
poor little muffin.... hope the prune juice gets things moving along for her babe!
-
hi mel,
how is she?? merry christmas btw. hope you are enjoying your day xx
-
She is totally off her bottles, hardly drinks anything, and cracks it big time if we lie her down to drink.
She just filled her nappy with bright yellow poop - DH said that its a sign of a belly bug, so we are thinking of keeping up her fluids with water since she's not drinking the milk anyway.
Dunno really what to do!!!
-
Water is really the best thing for her, for both constipation and belly bug. So it sounds like you are doing the right thing. The yellow poop could also be due to the prunes too.
