The only use i had for is was when my girls got sweaty under the arm pits or from vomit under the neck and the powder helped keep it dry.
Never used it on their vaginas cos its not good for little girls.
I think it's one of those things that peole always buy, thinking the parents-to-be will need. I've never used it, but have been given quite a few bottles.
Is it the talc powder kind like J&J? If it is, i wouldn't use it.... I would stick to talc-free cornstarch powder instead it's safer. We have the Gaia brand :D
I have never used talc on either of our boys, we just never needed it! I prefer to put as little on their skins as possible. (They both have beautiful skin BTW :))

I'm in love with baby powder. Well I like it a lot!
I use the cornstarch powder too, it feels way nicer.
I use it after nappy changes cos it smells nice and I am certain that he is nice and dry. I have used it under the chin/on neck too, babies make it quite difficult to get in there to dry it off properly.
I use it for me too under the boobies and between the thighs in summer time can't live without it :redface:
I never used baby powder on my baby ... didn't need it ... besides babies smell so divine anyway ;)
Nah, I never used it.
Too messy. Changing nappies etc is painful enough without filling the air with micro particles which were bound to send me in to fits of sneezing.
Talc powder has been linked to breathing problems and cervical cancer in girls. I have never used any powder on the boys nor would I, especially not talc.
I also stopped using J&J bath products when Jack was two weeks old and I discovered that they are petroleum based. Once I stopped using them ezcema became much less of a problem. Since then I have only used Gaia products and Alpha-keri oil for the boys. These are much better for the skin.
Nasty stuff, SJ. Don't use it. My dad gave me a MASSIVE pack of it when DD was born. Never even opened it - I heard so much bad stuff about talc. I think it is still in the cupboard but I'm just going to chuck it.
I think its the old school people who think you need it, or people who've never had kids before and assume that because they sell it in those gift packs that it must be something people need.
well if someone figures out a use for the stuff can they let me know....I reckon there's 5 bottles of the stuff at the back of our bathroom cabinet.....
Putting on oil stains in the garage?? Only joking. I don't know anything I would use talcum powder for.
Gaia rocks the Kazba!! I've used their products since DS was a newborn. Not only do they look after his skin, but do they smell good, or what???
Makes for good carpet freshener :D That's what I use it for. Sprinkle and vaccum up.

I put it in DH's "smelly shoes" - boat shoes he wears without socks.
Yeah my DH also uses it for his smelly feet!
I was going to say you can mix it with ti tree oil and bi carb soda and lavender and make a tinea/ smelly foot powder with it. works a treat!
Other then that - never use it on girls...the particles have been found to block fallopian tubes and can cause infertility n women and as MR said cervical cancer. Not good! Shame though cos it smells soooo good!!
We looooooove Gaia here :) Only started using it when DD's eczema came out when she was 6-ish months, tried a few different brands of soap substitutes plus some home made stuff (the oats in a stocking was...erm... entertaining - like she was bathing in porridge, LOL) and Gaia now rocks my world. It's lovely stuff. :):
I 'regifted' all the baby powder that i got. A girl that was pg at work got all the stuff that i didnt want... she knew that it was all the stuff that i didnt want or use and i told her to take what she wanted and either pass on the rest or bin it... she got all my sposies too that i had been given that i never used, so there was a lot of useful stuff.
I have never used powder of any description, but if you are looking to use it instead of buying a cornstarch based baby powder, why dont you just buy cornflour and use that, its much safer and cheaper than the commercially produced powders that have additives and perfumes.

I use babypowder on my underarms before I wax them. That's about it.
I have also never used powder nore was I given any but when I was doing anti-natal classes the midwife said that if you love the smell of the powder just sprinkle a little on your baby's singlet or socks and they will smell like J&J without the harmful side effects like cervical cancer. I like the other ideas though about carpet refreashers, for smelly shoe's etc though. Powder is also very drying for the skin and babies skin is so soft I wouldn't want to spoil that and upset the natural oils.

I had ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA AT ALL that it could cause such damage.. :o
I know my mum always used it on me as a baby & I've used it on the first year of my baby girl's life too..
I didnt know either until bump came home from the hossie! apparently the nurses told DH just after she was born when he mentioned it. Helpful to know such things because obviously J&J will never tell you!

I use the cornstarch one for nappy changes. Love it and we haven't had any nappy rash since! Started using it when Ash had a red bum and none of the creams worked and haven't looked back. I also use it under his chin because he is a super dribbler and it helps keep it a little drier. Plus it smells lovely!
We were given some too when i had DS. Never used it. But i just recycled and gave it to someone else who was expecting a baby lol.
