kitt3n i plan on using it on me aswell..as DH keeps telling me i have wrinkles around my eyes and BIG bags under my eyes....
hmmm off to check out some nappies.... or a bumbo...
-
Thanks Arimeh. Nambour is nice & close. Again would love to go with you but I will have to take a raincheck for now. I've been incredibly uncomfortable the last few days - PUPPPs rash & heat rash. On top of a very tight belly and all that goes with it. Can't last more than about 1/2 hr away from a bathroom! Am seeing doctor today about possible induction and if nothing happens tonight, DH & I have made plans for tomorrow.
-
Kerrie - cool.. are you having bubs at nambour or buderim?
OOh nearly forgot - nappy related - hmmm... DS put his hand down the back of the IB he was wearing an pulled out some poo - then exclaimed "YUCK".
Damn straight its yuck.
Got him cleaned up.. then just before getting another nappy - he peed on the floor *sigh*
Its so NOT my day today.
-
oops Mel...DD did that when she was younger and down for a sleep...i went in when i heard her and she had painted the walls  and that was in a sposie ewwwww
-
I just brought a Zada night nappy. Are they good? I probably should have asked first but I really wanted another N N and it was on B4B for $25 only used a couple of times.
Also an ecobub pocket, what are they like?
OH and Ashton is almost crawling! He got on his hands and knees and rocked! I caught it on camera with photos, then went to video him a little later and my battery died but I did get it for about 5 seconds lol
-
MM i was looking at that NN..BUT wasn't sure... i am definatly going to need afew more NN as Jack can pee through (NOT saturated) a sandman and through maz 'sweet dreams' NN and they both have HEAPS of layers....
well...last couple of days MIL (nanny goat) has had Jack whilst DH & i went out..and surprise surprise..she has managed quite well with the IB's i have packed...so am feeling alot better about nappies & her when i go back to work :D
-
Missy Mel - ecobubs are pretty noice nappies - I have 2. DS can fit into the medium and the large.
-
missy moo - i had 2 zadas and found they were fine on DD. But i has larges and they were a little too big (she is about 11-12kg) .. needed a smaller size.
Arimeh - i had close to 70 with 2 in cloth :)
-
well it's a large. I sort of thought since Ash fits in the large sandman and itti and everything else except BB that he would be ok in it. I hope it fits lol
-
Ash fits into a large IB!?!?!?!?!?!? :o
Oh my poor little skinny minny girl.. she's gonna get a complex soon I reckon!!! LOL
Although - proud to say, she was weighed on Saturday - 7.2kg.. yayyyy!!!!! Still haven't doubled birth weight - but YAY.. lol
-
lol Mel...i reckon Jack is going to be in large IB soon.... damn will have to spend MORE money...LUCKY i am going back to work soon....
-
Mel Ashton is 9.2kg and 75cm long.... he fits in most larges lol Well and truely out of smalls and is on the last snaps on his med itti's :(
-
Man you girls are soooo generous :)
I definitely wouldn't say no to a loan of nb/small stuff. And yes, I'm in Sydney for whoever asked?
I had MCN for DS as a newborn but to be honest, I had a bit of post natal anxiety and it took me about 12 weeks to get into cloth full time. My brain just wasn't in my head enough to deal with the washing etc.
For the new bub I'd have:
10 BumG OFSA pockets
3 BBH fitteds
2 BBH small covers (on loan to a friend but i"ll get them back)
3 mandy mac fitteds (ditto)
2 small peapods (ditto)
2 baby kanga OFSA pockets
These are mostly nappies I currently use for DS but I will get him some more IB d'lish and that would do him I think.
I also have 4 white BumGs that i was going to sell for a friend but might keep them for myself. They do need the elastic replaced though, I might ask FJ if she could help me out again, she did some peapods for me a while back.
I was going to get rid of all of my BumGs because i was having issues with stink - but I think I've finally sorted that. Not using detergent at all in my nappy cycles now and lots of time in the sun and it seems to have done the trick over time. Thank goodness I held onto them!
This seriously doesn't feel like it's really happening....
-
hiya, remember me lol
so hard to keep up with you ladies...
anyhoo.... can you use lanolin with MCNs? or do you need a liner?
poor DD pooped overnight and has a red roar bum, moogoo has helped but it needs something to keep wee off as its aggrivating it.
i've got some organic lanolin on her now but put her in a sposie just in case, her butt is so small boohoo!
-
DD is in large IB too but the large zadas were big!
ll80 - i would use anything designed to repel moisture directly on your mcns
-
Laura - dunno mate.
Willow - If its alright with Cat - she can drop off the newbie stuff (or you pick it up - whatever) I let her borrow off me - you can check it out - see if you want to borrow any of it, if not, we'll work out a way to get it back to me.
-
missymoo- cant tell u abt the ecobub yet. its waiting for me at the PO hahaha
kerrie- hope everything goes well, natural or c-sect? we'll definitely hear more frm u soon!!
forgot everything else *sigh*
im hardly using my magicalls cos they take awhile to dry, so im jst going to keep 2 of the 4. Do u think i should trade them for other nappies or jst sell them??
-
-
ecobubs are the bomb!!!!!!!! love them to bits
willow - ah i'll just pm you ;)
ll80 - i dont know that one, do you have any liners JIC?
i had something to ask but its gone............
wohb: swaddlebees eco
-
no liners, but I could just cut something up and put that in there, one of DD1's old fleece jumpers or something.
Hate sposies, her wee smells in them, took me 10 mins to fish out the bounty bag for a huggies sample lol
-
LL80 - definitely no lanolin (or anything else creating a barrier) on nappies hon. Unless you want to use them as covers LOL. They'll repel moisture instead of absorbing it, and there's not much that will get lanolin out of a fabric (easily) that won't trash your nappies. Definitely use liners!
-
Is there anything I can use that acts like powder? Obviously powder is prob a no-go but anything natural like cornflour etc? Or is natural creams the only thing?
-
Gaia have a natural powder - it's corn starch based so i would say cornstarch
-
I use johnsons baby powder, the cornstarch one with no problems :)
Also there is one called bottom balm from natures child. I LOVE it! I use it all the time and it smells wonderful and you only need to use a tiny bit. I have had my tub for about 3 months :) Almost finished so i need to get more which Ill be doing soon. Can't harp on enough about the stuff!
-
I saw the bottom balm, and also the black tube paw paw at the naturopath tonight.
Lots of natures child stuff - has anyone used their MCNs or their wipes?
-
ray ray - i have their wipes , i want more . they are alot bigger than normal cloth wipes but so much softer DD sucks away on one most of the day .. :)
ummmm im gone blank ..
err ummm ...
oooh Powder - i use mineral powder on DD with no probs , its natural and safe .. cornflor stright out of the pack is good here too , but cornflour can feed NR if its fungaly kiwm .. if its just rashy then its ok ...
cna you use moogoo on your face ?? cool .. i lvoe it but was worried it was too thick !!
-

Booroi threw in a hand knitted bamboo dress for my girls
6 Pink bamboo prefolds
1 Small ecobubs pocket (and insert)

1 Black HH
3 peapods inserts (those boosters are good, but I wish the pocket had more snaps!!)
1 BP AI2 'Northern Lights' small
and 2 extra BP boosters
 See I am glad DH hasn't seen it.
I had a lovely catchup with Saram today, she made my first kids free daytime in 4 months quite relaxed and happy. I also managed to finish the red tape for the Daewoo, so now I can sell it!!
Day care were fine with Em's nappies, but I forgot to send the wetbag . They rinsed off the pooey one for me, so I need to do the washing when Em is in bed tomorrow, even though the new CTs I have already put in the rotation without a prewash - I know - Naughty Me!!
I am thinking about putting all this rain in a few buckets and sending it south for you girls in dry places, We are very soggy and a bit over it for now!!
-
I am as far South as you can go hun and please I don't want your rain lol it was cold and wet today :( Bring back the sun! I totally agree with you about the peapods. I do use them and haven't had a problem yet but if they had more snaps they would be a lot better.
-
GoGo Mel - I keep foretting to let you know, Em is only in medium size, and she is nearly 18 months. Sarah is in larges.
Em did a poo on the toilet before they had their bath tonight!!! I need to get into the habit of putting her on the potty while I fill the bath though, every time I take her nappy off while I fill the bath she pees on the floor.
-
Heya Ladies!
How goes it in the world of MCN? Sorry I've been AWOL but our nappy dramas have still not ceased - I had to pop in though & say that I took The Punk to swimming lessons today & when we got out & were getting changed, one of her swimming classmates was getting her ITTI put on!! I was soooooooooo excited to see another cloth nappy/mum/bub, I had a huge chat with the woman about our stashes & about our NR issues... hopefully we'll have it sorted soon, but yay, a cloth buddy out here in the sticks!! (Well, okay, not even a cloth acquaintance as yet, buy YKWIM).
Have missed you all & and your evil enabling ways!!!
-
Ali - good score on the nappies! HIDE THEM!! lol
Charlotte always pees on the floor when I run the bath - she gets so excited about Tubby Time she wont leave the side of the bath to get undressed, and ALWAYS pees on the floor as soon as I take off the nappy! lol
For all those considering Powder - steer clear! even cornstarch is not healthy. If you must use a powder for nappy rash, use Prantal Powder. It is specifically designed to rashes, they use it in hospitals, but again, avoid it at ALL cost if you can.
Going back hom eon the 9th....and have some fluff waiting for me! !lol but DONT TELL DH! I have been bad...its all stuff off ebay, so bargains, and she needs nappies, but none the less - he doesnt know yet, so it will be interesting to see if he notices when we get home ;) Just going to chucj them in the wash and add them to the rotation...I dont think he will notice, most are IBs and she has them already so fingers crossed! lol
OMG I am sooo excited about getting home and finally being back to the pat-able bum!!
-
Alexis why is cornstarch bad?
QM have you tried no washing powder in the nappies. I just hot wash mine on 60 and put on the line and I haven't had NR since!! Also no smells or stains, and going on 2 months with no need for a strip wash either. I swear I wish I never used washing powder at all, the NR he got wasn't nice :( Also he can not under any circumstances have any synthetic fibers on his bum, only bamboo/hemp/cotton. I line all his nappies with this.
-
I think Lea mentioned that it can facilitate fungal rashes, which it can, it is also considered to be be very unhealthy as it promotes (by virtue of its caking adn damp and heat and moisture absorbing properties) bacterial growth. If it is not properly cleaned off regularly it can cause more problems than it fixes. ALL my middies and nurses urged me not to use ANY powder whatsoever on babies.
The particles of powders like talc and cornflour have also been found to clog fallopian tubes and can cause infertility in women. the particles themselves work their way into the vagina and they have been found in fallopian tubes.
I would just rather not use them at all - they are essentially unnecessary anyway - and actually inflame the problems they are supposed to prevent. Moisture, bacteria and heat = trapped in powder and caked onto bubba bits = BAD lol
