Ok - so I woke up this morning with "sticky nipples" - I guess it's time to buy some breast pads - just in case - and was wondering which brands people recommend? I would prefer disposable - cos i'm lazy! I have read some women discussing how some BP stick to their boobs etc - but can't find where I read that now. All advice gratefully received!
I like the Pigeon odour eliminating ones, but I have only tried these and the Nuk ones. Did not like the Nuk nearly as much. The Pigeon also have 2 sticky bits, so stay in place a lot easier.
Maz-a-licious all the way. I wouldn't recommend anything else.
Really, what's another pair of socks in the washing machine? Because that's how little space they would take up, and that all you have to do, turf them in...
I have to agree with cookiemonster.Reusable are so much softer against your skin than disposables.
Thanks Ladies - you are fast! I only wash once a week at the moment (yep I'm lazy with LOTS of clothes) - I know this will change when bubs comes along - but at the moment this works for us - so sposies def the best atm.
If you woud lik eto try some of Maz breastpads let me know I will send you a couple of the ones I have as I no longer need them. I have aheap here so would be happy to pass them on.
I agree, get some of Maz's, by FAR the best I've used. I know you said you want disposable ones but I honestly can't recommend them over Maz' cloth. If you get enough pairs (and they're only $4 each I think) you can still wash once a week. A box of disposables will cost you at least $7 and you go through them so quickly, so think of the money you'll save too. I wasted sooooo much money on sposies.

In the early days I was going through a pack in two days. Spending $50 a fortnight on breastpads was not to my liking!!
i agree, maz's are the best - i have 4 pairs and just rotate them thru the wash, easy. She great great patterns and colours too!

The disposable ones seriously cost a fortune. The best value BY FAR that I have found is the Rite Aid brand - from Woolworths or Big W. A box of 40 is $6, or a box of 60 is $8 I think...
For disposables I think Pigeon are by far the best. This time I have bought some wool ones off my midwife and they only need to washed every now and then and rinsed occassionally.
For disposable, some of the expensive brands are 'really' good - but I go the Rit-aid ones. They are much better priced, and whilst they aren't as good as some of the more expensive ones, they are alot better then the cheapy home brand ones. i know that when i start b/f i go through them soo quickly (a box every two days) and they are always heavily soaked. But it is worth having some washable ones as well. i use them when my leaking slows down, and it is more of a dribble.
I haven't tried mine out yet as i haven't had any leaking just yet. I was given a few packs of the Avent washable NP's. I also have some samples of a few other disposables to try too.
I like pigeon and rite-aid and have found them fairly similar. They are quite flat so you can't see them easily under your clothes, unlike some of the other brands that look a bit like cushions :) Also because they are so flat they seem to mould to the shape of my breast a bit better and don't move around as much. I have tried other brands like johnsons and a couple of others from woolworths (sorry I can't remember the names) and didn't like them anywhere near as much.
I have tried non-disposable (Avent) and really did not like them. I found they were not very absorbent in the first 6 weeks after I had my baby so I couldn't use them. I tried them again after that and found that they dried out and would stick to my nipple (ouch!) and I would have to peel them off my already sore nipples. I did not find washing them to be much of an issue. I just washed them in my bra bag with everything else. You would have to wash them soon after using them though. I have found that if I don't wash my clothes that get breast milk on them straight away (or at least put them on to soak) they attract mega amounts of ants.

Thanks for all the advice - maybe a mixture would be good! It also sounds like I will have to actually do some actual "housework" eg washing more often! Oh well DH will probably die of shock! How do I buy BP from Maz? Oh...does she have a link on her profile? How many should I get (keep in mind my EXTREME hatred of washing - its irrational I know! I will prob get some sposies too - sounds like pigion are good - think they are on sale at Toys r Us - will check! Thanks again - you BB Gals are lurvely!

I am loving Maz's. The Avent ones are made from cotton, which is not as absorbent as bamboo. I will be sticking with anything bamboo when I want absorbency. Maz's BPs also hide nicely under clothing, they are thinner than many disposable ones.
Natures Child Organic Cotton Breast Pads are fab - you get a few in the pack- and its pretty easy to just chuck them in the wash with everything else. You only need them in the beginning stages of BFding anyways- after a couple of months your supply settles down a bit and your boobs get used to the 'load' - lol.
Just my opinion - but you really don't want to have any synthetic and potentially toxic materials (as most plastics are) against the skin where bub will be feeding. Those types of materials do not breathe either so they can make you sweat. Thick cotton will absorb any leakage and allow your skin to still breathe.
