I would spell it Zachary and Zach
zach and zachary
I would spell it Zachary too, oops!
Sorry Kim but i too would spell it Zachary and Zac
Actually Kim, I hate to say it but I spelt it with an "a' in your birth announcement thread. I did notice immediately though and I edited it within a few seconds. I think spelling it with an "a" is just much more common. That's no excuse though, people shouldn't be lazy with the spelling of names.
Oh great...so he is in for the wrong spelling for the rest of his life then LOL
*Good one Kim* :p
ETA: Thats ok Rachel....i think there was a huge number of 'a' spelling mistakes...but thats ok....they are all forgiven!
I would spell it Zach and Zachery (the way it sounds) Zac-erry not zac-aary.
It can be very frustrating when people spell what seams obvious wrong.
There is so many different spellings for names these days I am suprised we arn't all saying 'now how do you spell that' even for the most simple sounding names.
My daughter although her first name is traditional Sarah we get Sarha at times???? and her middle name is Jayne and every one puts that as the traditional jane.
My name is spelt Eron instead of erin, I commonly get told 'oh, I though you were a bloke' if they see my name spelt before they meet me.
Sorry but I too would spell it Zachary!!
Zac and Zachary, but that's me. And you choice Zachery for his name, so that's right. :)
Id have spelled it with an A too, just from hearing it, but once you tell people how to spell it they should get it right IMO, at least most of the time. Its not that unusual.
My name is Rachael and is always mispelled as Rachel by most people, but they usually get it right after a while - I find family are worse than friends/colleagues.
I'd spell it with an "a" too, but that's because it's my nephew's name also and that's how his name is spelt! I know how you feel though, Kieran gets his name spelt as Kieren or Keiran or Keiren...gah!
Hope you can make the meet up tomorrow, I'd love to meet Zach :D
Sorry, my initial instinct was Zachary, but then I would do Zach for short. But I'm always one to ask spelling before I write it, as there is so many ways of spelling names now (learnt this particularly from working in a bank). I had a surname which was always miss spelt (and it was a spell it as you would say it name)...at first it was frustrating but it became no big deal. I would say just point it out everytime they spell it wrong, eventually those people will learnt to ask everyone the spelling of there name (like I learnt to do).
It's annoying, and it happens with so many names. My DD Coco gets Cocoa all the time. NO she is not chocolate powder...............GGGRRR. I just end up spelling all our names every time!!
Congratulations on the birth of your little Zachery Liam!!
I have to admit though- I would spell it Zachary and Zac- only because DH has a friend with this name & that's how he spells it. I think its bcoz Zachary stems from the traditional biblical spelling.
However, many names are spelt differently these days so its up to people to make sure the spelling of a name and then make an effort to get it right!!
I'd spell it with an A, but I always check spellings first! My daughter will have her name mispelled I'm sure.
i think the a spelling is more common but like others said once they know, no excuses they should get it right! im big on getting the correct spelling for names if im writing an invite, card etc.
Most names people are going to get wrong even the simple ones.
i get Nichole, Nixon has been spelt Nixson, nickson so far and Tyron ofcourse gets a lot of Tyrone (with that pronounciation which its not)
Zachery is unique!!
I'd spell it Zachary and Zach. But I totally empathsise with a lifetime of having your name spelt incorrectly... very few people get my name right... but it doesn't bother me that much... only when family get it wrong too!!! No doubt all my kids will have theirs spelt wrong too... but it won't worry me overly... many people are actually dyslexic and/or simply can't spell... it's not intentional so i don't take offence.
Well its nice to have another member of the "people always spell my kid's name wrong" Club.
Welcome aboard mate ;)
Aw thanks Mel...LOL
I honestly didnt think id have this problem with his name...how wrong was i!
i would spell it Zachary, and probably Zac.
the thing is, if its a stranger spelling the name, they will spell it however.. if it were family/friends/school etc they SHOULD spell it correctly, because they know how it should be spelt.
i get the oddest spelling of Krystal sometimes!! i understand the C or K, but Christell, Cristal, Krystall... and this is family and friends!! argh!
Yep, Zachary and Zach here too...sorry Kim!!
I would spell it Zachary & Zach. BUT you have named him ZachEry & thats fine hun. The people close to him will (hopefully!) know how to spell HIS name. Thats the main thing in my opinion... if family spell it wrong & continue to do so... well thats just rude IMO
Dont worry hun, these days most people have problems spelling any name because they always expect a "twist" to the spelling (eg- Jason changed to Jayson... thats just an example, no offense intended if there are any Jaysons here on BB)
Zac and Zachary. Only because these are the only ways I have seen it spelt before.
BUT you called his Zachery, and that's how it's spelt so there :P
I would spell it with an "e" actually, but i'd spell Zac not zach sorry :) I'd rather people spell my childs name wrong than pronnounce it wrong if you know what a mean. It would be annoying though :)
