My poor bottom with the episiotomy... it still hurts :(
When will it stop?
I am not sure hun but I hope it stops hurting soon  can you put an icepack on it. Maybe fill a pad or a nappy up with water and put it in the freezer and put it on there for comfort.
Mine only really hurt for about a week...
For that first week I was having at least one salt bath a day and then drying with a hairdryer set on cool and I think that really helped!
Funny I just read an article about this very thing. Now don't laugh but the article suggested filling a condom with water and freezing it then (with a pad underneath) you can kinda sit on it ??
:yeahthat: i got told to do that by a friend (i had a labial (sp?) tare) and when the ice melts the condom goes like jelly and 'molds' to you...it helped me when i got home!
My stiches (dispite being in a differant place) took about 2 weeks to stop hurting my graze still stings from time to time though.
Thanks ladies...
I did the ice thing in hosp but my Obs said 2 days only, then we want blood to start flowing to heal. I've been off pain killers for a while... maybe it is just healing??
OP last time i was in immense pain for weeks, i actually had a stitch that had come undone but was too swollen for anyone to see. took me weeks, this time i was sore tuesday so day 6, i went and had one sniped as it was pulling, i have another one doing the same, also itchy as it heals, if your getting more pain or its not getting better id go see you obs
Mine took two weeks for the bad pain to go, then I could go off pain relief, but it still hurt for a couple of weeks. It sucks, hope it's better soon for you OP!
ETA Jols reminded me, I did have issues with mine healing, I had a granuloma that required attention for the first three months. I'm so glad I had it dealt with, because it was quite unpleasant while it was there, but once it was dealt with effectively, things felt MUCH better down there! So if it's sore for a very long time, or just doesn't feel right, then get thee to get it checked!
Thanks girls!
AJP I will definitely call the Obs if it gets worse... might get DH to have a look, make sure it isn't infected or anything... ah the things they do for us :D
op i check mine daily with a mirror!! i did ice for around 5 days, thinking of doing some tonight as im a bit achy
sez i have a larger skin tag now
reading this brings back memories for me and the thing is everyone is different. i had tear outside and in as bub no 1 turned as being born (ouch). it seemed to hurt for ages and i couldn't sit down properly for a few weeks.
i also hear about filling a rubber glove ( one finger only) with water and freezing it and do same thing as others said and just sit it in your pants and let it melt. but not for too long.
hope you start to heal soon. good luck.
I think mine hurt really badly for about 2 weeks, then less for the next week. I'm pretty sure by 3 weeks I was all back to normal.
Salt baths, ice packs and panadol 4 hourly. For my first bubba my stitches were sore for 3 weeks. Also try to go padless if you can because I'm sure I was getting a rash from the pads. Even if you bleed onto old knickers or sit on an old towel for a bit. (well maybe not if you have a white couch ;) )
Mine were quite sore I had 2 tears which then resulted in getting an Epi as bubs wasn't getting out and it was going to get a lot worse! I used ice for the 5 days I was in hosy, then when I transferred over to another hosy with bub I didn't have any ice or pain killers except the occassional Panadol. I sat on lots of pillows (bub was posterior so I had a really sore tailbone as well). The stiches should begin to feel better after 10 days, as during those early days there is a lot of healing going on, and a pulling sensation from the stiches as they dissolve.
At my 8 week checkup (wasn't any appointments available until then - due to bub arriving early), I was still in pain and unfortunatly I had an internal skin tag which had to be coartorised (sp?) and also a stich hadn't disolved and skin had grown over the top, so had to go back for it to be cut, then I wouldn't stop bleeding (due to still having low platelets) and ended up getting another stitch
I hope with a bit more TLC and rest they will heal quicker, try to lie down more often only sit when you need to, this will reduce pressure on the area as well.
HTH xxoo
Mine hurt for 2 weeks although it was a natural tear, I heard epi's hurt more or longer? I was told to use the icy condoms as long as I need to but do pelvic floor exercises to keep the blood flow going.
Hope the pain goes away quickly for you.
OP - my stitches seemed most uncomfortable while the area was healing. The general 'itchy' kind of feel made me think I had thrush! But it was just the irritation of healing skin. I think it felt normal again after about 2 weeks for me. (Tear, not epi.)
Well I just called my Obs, I have to go in, worried it might be infected :(
Oh dear. Better to know now than wait. Hopefully it isn't and everything is healing up really well
Oh you poor thing! :( I know with my two births, both were very different. The episiotomy took around 3 months to heal & was very sore...still uncomfortable even 5-6 months after the birth. My 2 tears with DD healed very quickly & I think by 3 weeks I felt 'normal' again. :)
Oh no - 3 months???? Crikey...
I hope it is healing now... its been itchy, I think that means healing... :crossfingers:
