Please tell me i'm not the only one *sigh*

I swear since dd has turned one, it's just constant tantrums! All the time. In the morning she will have just whingy outbursts but in the afternoon it is way worse. I thought maybe she was getting too much sleep, so cut her down to 1 sleep a day, but that didn't make any difference and she's quite content to have 2 sleeps a day still. But its just the whingy cranky moods. Like she's not getting what she wants so she throws herself on the ground. And just crying at the drop of a hat. I am seriously at my wits end I don't know what's wrong with her. She cut her 2 top teeth and I thought it was from the teething and after she cut them everything would be alright, but it hasn't changed. I just want to know for this age is it normal? AM I the only one...

28 months on and STILL throwing tantrums.. :lol:

His got way worse at 14 months, so hopefully she is giving you the worst of it now. Its hard for her to communicate to you what she wants so they get so very frustrated at this age.

No, you're not the only one. Natty started throwing tanties before she turned 1. And she still has them. Personally, I would hazard a guess that tantrums are rarely if ever the result of "too much" sleep, rather they are an issue of communication and control. A kid may not be able to tell you what they want, which is really frustrating. Or they may be able to communicate very well what they want, but if they are denied it (which is your call as Mum) that is also frustrating. IME this is definitely exacerbated by being tired or out of routine.
I still find constant tanties difficult to deal with (mainly when we are out - I don't mind as much at home), but I live in hope that they will slow down soon enough. Tonight DD had a mega one that went on and on in the bath because I washed her hair. She was waaaaaay peeved. But we've been on holidays and I could see specks of dirt on her scalp - it was soooooo grotty. I've no doubt that there'll be another one before bedtime or at bedtime. It is rough, but it's the way of many toddlers.

*sigh* Right here with you hun.... Tanty, tanty, tanty. Going to eat breakfast? Tanty. Wiping his face? Tanty. Changing his nappy? Tanty. Brushing his hair? Tanty. You get the idea.

Some days are worse than others. Today was a bad one. But I live in hope that tomorrow will be better ;)

DS still has mega tanties and he is nearly 3! He likes to lay on the shop floor screaming "Don't kill me" when i come near him LOL

Jesse started with the tanty's at 9 months old. They've only gotten worse & he's more clingy than ever.
He will throw himself on the floor screaming & has started headbutting things. Won't take no for an answer & refuses to to sleep, lol!
He is still having 2 sleeps a day for about 90 minutes - 2 hours each.

lol... my 9 month old is already throwing tantrums when she doesnt get her own way or you tell her no. If you dont do what she wants, she'll scream at you too. If you are carrying her and go near the front or back door then walk away (because she wants to go outside) she will throw her head back and scream and carry on. If you the put her down she will throw herself down on the floor and carry on. Same goes for the bathroom.. she loves her bath! Also if i dont get her food to her fast enough, watch out. Little devil she is. But yeh just comes with kids unfort. DS started at about 16 months. He still has some but is quite good now at 2.5 years.

Both these things are EXACTLY what I am dealing with atm. I just feel so unloved lol. I had a 'silent' tanti yesterday. You know the kind where your so angry you just go really quiet instead of screaming and whinging! Dp was so scared he did the dishes LOL it's taken me DAYS to try and clean my house because of her tantrums and being such a koala bear! I understand when she's teething but christ gimme some peace! Glad to see though I am not the only one who still has a bub that has 2 day sleeps. She gets up at like 5.30 and by 8am she's already cranky and wants a nap. She'll sleep for 1.5 hours, and then in the afternoon she has another 1.5 hour nap. So I guess it's just being a kid hey. Joys of parenting...

Oh and Kellxx f.y.i Everytime I see your little one's name I smile. Because my dd is Ava and my SIL's baby is Keira :)

Oh hun they all go through it. I know its hard to not take it personal or let it get to you but its just them discovering whats right and wrong really. If it gets too much for you just go and put her in her cot and close the door. Absolutely nothing wrong with that. Will give both of you a little time out. But she loves her mummy and needs you to guide her. It does get better. Sometimes it gets worse before it gets better, but keep consistant and you will see all your nuturing will pay off when they turn into a child who respects you. Im finding that now with DS. We have such a great bond. You are doing a great job ok :hug:

Hehe great names! DH actually wanted Ava as a first name but i had my heart set on Keira ever since watching Xanadu. Funny thing though too.. we had Jayde as a middle name at one stage too. But we ended up changing our minds and loving Ava more :)

My DD is just 9 months and had what i think was a mini tantie the other day, i thought ''she is too young to be having tanties'' but i guess i was wrong! although im sure il know when/if she has a proper one!! :)
I obviously dont have any advice for you. I would have no idea how to handle it...guess il have to learn! i saw a thing, maybe on here, i cant remember, about that book/dvd 'happiest toddler on the block' i havent seen it but someone said it was good?
i guess you just have to decide how to deal with them and stick with it. Good luck

Teenage tanties are great too!! Last year I had a 2yr old and a 16 yr old and sadly they acted the same quite a lot of the time LOL

Hehe... a friend of mine's five year old was having a major tanty in Woolies so her dad picked her up and carried her out. the whole way through the shopping centre she was screaming "You are not my daddy!! Put me down, you bad man!!"....

Try and remember why she's tantruming (I have my own dictionary don't knock it). I know it sounds ridiculous but its communication frustration that in most cases causes it. I found talking about everything HEAPS. And practically being a mind reader help. Give lots of options and when she is tantruming keep talking even if your saying the same thing 10 different ways, once she feels heard, can get a hold of herself and see that its all ok she'll calm down... But she needs to feel heard first ;)

hi...i have the same problem, it is reasuring to know that "your not the only one" and that many other toddlers go through the same thing. if im holding my little man and i put him down for whatever reason he will cry out, lay down, arch his back and have a wring! depending on his mood, it will be a struggle to put him in the high chair.
he has now started to want food (while in high chair) so i give it to him, he looks at it and then decides to put it on the floor!
its all apart of becoming his own person i guess and to have some sort of control over, (what we like to refer to) his world.:D:D
