One of my all time faves.
Look up the author on google. She has an amazing picutre book/graphic novel out too. A real collector's piece.
I loved it. Really nice story, well written - it could have gotten quite confusing!!!
I really enjoyed this also. One of my all time favourites.
what's it about, with out giving it away :)
the title intrigues me.
another one who loved it!
I will never forget my DH walking in when I was on the last pages, because I was sobbing out loud. It is just te most beautiful story. I love how there's so much anticipation and build-up in the first half, and then the depth of the second half.
ll80 - it's about a guy who has a chronological displacement disorder (use your imagination, because if you can, the book works so well) so without warning or any control, he travels in time. He often goes to familiar places, and at the start of the story, he travels back in time to his future wife's house when she's a child.
Sounds completely far-fetched, but it's an incredible love story.
I read it in 48 hours. Couldn't put it down.
Omg the movie of it comes out on 5th november i cant wait to see it !! it has rachel mcadams and eric bana omg so excited !!
oh I love any type of fantasy novel, will have to go buy it now!! :)
Oh.My.GOD! I didn't know there was a MOVIE!
I'm not great at watching movies after reading the book. I sit and complain the whoooooole time "Wasn't like that in the book"
I love that book sooo much. I read it over and over again.
Can't wait until the movie comes out, although i know it probably won't do the book justice, as movies usually don't.
I gave my copy to my grandmother to read.
OMG - saw the movie trailer on the weekend and it made me CRY! Imagine what the real movie's going to do!
Release date 14th August - Don't they know I can't wait that long???

OMG!! The trailer is awesome!! I can't wait to see it!!!
One of the best books I've read in years - I read it 3 years ago and still talk about it as a benchmark for what is a "good read". I sobbed at the end as well - DH thought I was nuts ..."why do you read things that make you cry" he said - my reply "but it's great!"
So its coming close to the release date of The Time travellers wife movie(with Eric Bana and Rachel McAdams) i'm so excited. And also got some news that The Author has published her 2nd novel - Her Fearful Symmetry, about American twin girls living near a cemetary in London. sounds i interesting i look forward to getting into another great book:dance:

Using the same "spoiler" kind of thing as sunflowa_girlie, mouse-over the "gaps" in the sentences:
DH and I saw the movie last week. I haven't read the book (yet) so I don't know if this is in it, but the miscarriage scene really hit me hard... I wasn't expecting it and I couldn't breathe for a few moments, before bawling my eyes out for a solid five minutes. I hope I didn't miss too much story!
I was expecting to cry at the end - I'm a sucker for endings that make me cry - but I was really grinning my head off! Who knows how many times he travelled into the future before he died so it wasn't really sad for me... DH cried like a baby though!
I really didn't think the movie did the book justice at all....I was disappointed. It glossed over too much and the most poignent parts of the book seemed to be bit parts in the movie.
2 stars from me.
I just finished the book on the weekend, absolutely loved it. Iv had it for ages but never read it. I really want to see the movie but need to find someone sappy enough to see it with me.
I absolutely loved this book & I plan to read it again soon, after I've finished the book I'm on. I want to see the movie, but I'm scared I'll be disappointed like you've mentioned Winter. Maybe I'll just go in with lower expectations and enjoy being at the movies. I haven't been in AGES!
We hadn't been to the movies in aaaaaagggeeeeeesss either so we went to the first session on a Monday morning thinking that we'd have the cinema to ourselves (we had to take DD, no babysitters) and we had it all to ourselves, YAY! until the very last second a lady came in and sat up the back...bummer. That meant we had to try & keep DD quiet and spent a lot of the movie rocking her & feeding her etc.
I hope you do enjoy the movie Lollybaby, its just so hard when the book is so rich. Have a lovely time eating popcorn & slurping on an icecream! :cheer:
Saw the movie today: without giving too much away I was put off by the strange intensity of the female lead's acting when she first 'met' Henry again in the library... it just seemed a bit creepy (that predatory look in her eye LOL) weird. Anyhow...
I quite like how the whole issue of time travel was explored though... for once it was depicted with more problems than advantages which I thought was more akin to the truth if it was possible.
All in all I'd give the movie 6/10 as a stand-alone story (without me having read the book). Maybe my expectations were too high ;)
I'll probably borrow a copy from the library early into 2010... my reading list for the rest of this year is full!
I just bought myself this book last week because I want to see the movie and I hate seeing the movie first. The book was really good. I spent a lot of the time reading it wondering how on earth they were going to cover off on some things, but I guess I'll find out when I see it.
I enjoyed the book a lot. Ignored my DP for half of the weekend while I got through it. ;)
