Iv just finished the last book. Im so sad :( its like I have broken up with Mr Grey LOL!
I do hear that they are going to make a movie!! Hmmmmm.....
I heard Alexander Skarsgard has been tipped as Mr Grey and maybe Kirsten Stewart as Anastasia.:
I got past the bad writing and got right into the psychology of Mr Grey. The fact the he appears so damn hot made it quite easy to get past the writing :)
I think i'll just wait for the LOL Katz version of that one :lol::
Have just started. Ehhhhhh, I can't stop reading but it's too soon to call, although Ana is annoying and predictable. Writing very fan fictiony.
Kirsten Stewart?? Really? I haven't read these books but the sex scenes in Twilight were really awkward (and I'm sure there will be more in Breaking Dawn 2) and I can't imagine a whole movie of them...!!!

I heard a review of Snow White yesterday. The guy said the CGI effects were brilliant, but it was a pity nobody CGI'ed some acting ability onto Kristen Stewart! Liked that

Am over the sex scenes so I find myself skimming over those which btw happens every couple pages. Im over it haha.

Found a blog with print your own dust jackets for the books, so people can't tell what you are reading. One of titles was 50 Rules for Contract Negotiation :rofl:

I was just listening to the football commentary on 7 (was sneaking in a nap on the couch) ... and had a giggle when the commentators started talking/joking about how every woman they have seen on their plane trips, are reading this book!
SIL leant we the first book, started at about 3pm and just finished it (had to do dinner, watch the block etc ;) )
It was a great read, in the sense it was easy to get into, not overly complex but very thought provoking.
I quite enjoyed it despite some of its short comings.
Might have to go but myself the next 2 books ;) and this one for me to keep

I'm about to start my second read through... I love them...
I know it's crappy writing and crappy editing but I love the story and it has opened up a new world to me!!! It has also laid to rest some demons from my past... Ahhh, Mr Grey.....

There was an older lady (mid 60s I reckon) on my train reading the second one, and I was sitting there thinking, "Good for you!"
Doesn't it bother anyone though that a lot of the sex is bordering/has crossed over to non-consensual sex?
I haven't read it yet ... I'm still on the hunger games!
Fifty shades is next on my list.
And then Tina Fey's book.
I guess for me no because if she truly didn't want to participate, she wouldn't.
I don't think it's non-consensual, he has been quite open with her and she has gone into the relationship with knowing it will be different.:
I did shudder at the thoughts & comments about Mrs R and him being young but Mr G & A's relationship no.
I'm normally a bit reserved about these kinds of things but there was something very intriguing about this 'storyline'.

I have read all 3 cos I had to know what everyone was talking about lol I gotta say I didn't love it. It was an easy read but a lot of the stuff was unnecessary IYKWIM? I wouldnt read it again.

Im trying to get into this book....nothing like alittle erotica to get the heart pumping...anyway...This Christian grey reminds me of hannibal lecter and i can't get into the novel because of this...should i keep going or go buy the.hunger games??

I forced myself to keep reading and I only made it 1/3 way through and I just can't pick it up again. I'd buy the hunger games.

I've read all 3 as well & i wont be reading them again.
Really enjoying the hunger games ... very similar narrative voice to the "Tomorrow When The War Began" series, but obviously very different content! But they're really very good.
I don't have high expectations of the Fifty series - it is what it is, and I'm not going to expect any more.
I started the Fifty Shades last night. Only on chapter 4 so still a long way to go. I bought all 3 for my tablet. Like others I only got them to see what all the hype was about lol.
i just read the first one. i am not going to rush out and get the others. i will read them one day though. it wasnt as good as everyone said it was. i found the sex parts quite repetitive and even boring towards the end, i was more interested in finding out about the characters and whats with Mr Greys past etc.
Ok. I gotta say it. It's not doing it for me. I'm about half way through.
I have been known to read a romantic novel or two ;) And I don't mind a bit of a sex scene every now and then. But these just aren't working out for me. Maybe because I am a bit of a prude - but it is leaving a sour taste in my mouth.
Actually the sour taste was actually there before they even entered the "red room".
I think it is a combination of things. I keep getting distracted by my internal count of every time Ana blushes/flushes/turns red, looks down or bites her lip. And the count of every time she uses an expletive starting with "Holy" something. Seriously, it is on every page. At least once. "Holy c". "Holy s". "Holy f."
Likewise turning "x shades of something". 50 shades of messed up. 7 shades of blue. Ok - we get that you are tying it into the book title... but really, it's doing my head in.
And much like 2cheekymonkeys says, every time they veer somewhere vaguely interesting, like his food thing or the scars on his chest, he looks at her and she climaxes and dissolves into a million pieces. Every time she climaxes it's into a million pieces. :rolleyes:
C'mon writer. Couldn't you do better than that?
And I can't see the tie-in with Twilight. It was started as a Twilight fanfic - what does that mean exactly? That someone who loved Twilight wrote it? Is that all? No actual link with Twilight?
Twilight wasn't the best writing... but I could at least get a bit involved with the characters. I'm struggling to do that with this one.

I finished book one this morning. I was a bit bored up till Chapter 16, but I think it got better from then on.

I'm reading it... It's interesting...
I'm cringing a lot tho, a lot of the controlling and him telling her what to do and her just doing it, and because she also worries about what will happen if she is always second guessing herself because he won' like it, the fighting and then it turning into him punishing her and sex it's making me uncomfortable a lot. But that is most of my issues and nto so much wrong with the book...
omg Ocean princess, thats funny! i got the irits with all the talking her inner goddess and subconscious do, but kinda got used to it by the end of the book. just finished the first book. must admit, i got bored with the sex. always the same. feeling in her belly, down THERE. about to fall in a million pieces, grey finding his release. haha
but im a sucker for a book with hype, and im off to buy the other two lol
