PMSL.... My favourite (at 31 yrs of age) is The Hungry Caterpillar and my mum finally bought it for me just before I turned 29!!!
It has pride of place in my bookshelf too...
She even remembers me reading all the time as a very little tacker...
Great memories attached.
My stepkids and I love Halloween by Jerry Seinfeld about a litle boys perspective of Halloween - "Everyone we know is just giving away Candy!!" Its hilarious, think I have read it so many times I could do it without the book. We are also big fans of Mem Fox but they are getting a bit old for her now.
I cant remember the name of it but my sister had a lovely book about a mother and son where they go through the boys life and the mother repeats the phrase "I love you forever, I love you for always, as long as you're living my baby you'll be" which is really sweet!
DS favourite book is "Where is the green sheep" by Mem Fox, i think its pretty funky too! I think it was book of the year, has the sticker on the front.
Caeleb is too little to actually understand the words at 13 weeks of age, so we go for bright colours and pictures. ATM he loves Whose Teeth?, Whose Tail?, Whose House? by Jeannette Rowe, available from ABC Shops. Very basic, but so bright and fun. There is also another title in the series that I just couldn't resist getting him...
WHOSE POO? :cryinglaugh:
And yes, he loves that one too!!!

Ourlux - I bought some just last week from our local post office, and there were loads. I'm sure there will be more. :)

I love so many picture books. Growing up of course, 'Possum Magic', 'The Hungry Caterpillar' and 'The Jolly Postman' were amongst my favourites. I also love the Big Red Bath which was a book I won through the Huggies website but Maddy loves having read to her. :D
yes they still have them at my post office!
Thanks i got the Mem Fox set yesterday. Did they have different types at your PO? at ours it was just one set of Mem Fox.
im pretty sure it was only one set of Mem Fox here too.
Definitely 2 sets of Pamela Allen though
Oh bummer, none of those at all. I might try to check a quieter PO where they might have more stock left.
Yes good idea. We live in a small town so we had heaps. Let me know if you cant find any and I can send some to you :)
Thanks i will! :)
I promise I'm not a wombat freak or anything but I just bought a board book version of 'Diary of a Wombat' by Jackie French for the baby's bookshelf & when I was just thinking then I remembered 'Wombat Stew' which I had as a kid - I loved the song in the back!!
Also a huge Anamalia/Eleventh hour fan, spent many an afternoon pouring over those when I was little.
My mum just got Izzy a 4 book pack of Seasons Guess How Much I love you books! Yay!! Since posting we have added Fancy That to our fav collection - she thinks its hilarious when dad does the loud chicken "took took took" noises and literally tries to grab thechooks off the pages (Thanks Danni for the heads up - we got the Pamela Allen and Mem Fox 4 packs!!)
There are lots of Christmas ones out too- can anyone recommend a fab Christmas book???
Yasin's favourite at the moment is Mulga Bill's Bicycle.
He can recite about half of it on his own.
He also loves Everyone's Got A Bottom (Cailin posted a thread about it somewhere) and he's taken to pointing out bottoms while we're out and about.
Imran's into Who Sank The Boat and Rosie's Walk.
We bought Diary of a Wombat. I love it but the boys don't seem to get it.
There is a Sydney based bookshop/website (google gleebooks) that has greats lists of age appropriate kids books.
Milo got a few new ones for hie birthday and is getting some for christmas.
newbies include
each peach pear plum, going on a bear hunt, time for bed isobel, guess how much I love you, where is the green sheep
gosh It was like going back in time with some of them!
MIL got his Uno's Garden too.
One of the real standout favourites I have from childhood is a book called Corduroy about a little bear who has lost his button. I hope I can find that one for Milo.
