Oooh yay! I was thinking of starting a twilight thread haha
I borrowed the first book off mum and read it in a day. I told her not to allow me to have the rest until this weekend because I've had loads on and knew I wouldn't do it once I got stuck inot them
So it's a reading fest for me this weekend, can't wait!
Edward is just a vamp spunk ;)
I'm just re-reading Twilight now... im finding it hard because it is pretty different then the movie and i have watched the movie so much lately (lol) it gets confusing
Has anyone read the draft of Midnight Sun??? I'm going to read it once i've finished Twilight
I'm re-reading Midnight Sun as we speak - spending time reading it in between editing a report for work - yeh I know *bad*
I've also passed onto the Twilight fangirls here at work the "adult" versions :)
I haven't posted for real on BB for soooooo long, but I am going to have to now with all this Twilight talk ;).
Love the books. I have read all 4 of them countless times - I say countless because not only can I not remember how many times in full, but all the times I've just flicked through reliving my favourite scenes. I would say that I haven't gone a day since I bought them without picking up and spending at least part of my day in Forks.
I don't have a favourite book per se - if I've gone long enough without reading one, it will draw me in I'll *need* to read it. Breaking Dawn probably gets the most reads though - I get a thrill from Bella's graceful emergence in this book - how complete she becomes. How important she is. How very sure of herself she ends up.
I don't not in Team Edward or Team Jacob, they both are completely lovable characters, which is why Bella struggles so much. I yearn for the daydream of the children in La Push bobbing off into the forest, but cannot imagine the story ending without Edward. Both scenarios are equally appealling.
The movie. *grumble*. I saw the movie before reading any of the books, and at that point, it enthralled me. I found that it spoke to the nature of what women want - to be loved unconditionally, protected and cared for - with it having nothing to do with sex. However, after reading the books and appreciating the characters as they were meant to be - they just didn't get it right did they? I am very disappointed with their portrayal (or lack thereof) of Alice in particular, she is such a large part of Bella's (and Edward's) world, more of an introduction would have been nice. I am so dirty that nothing was mentioned about Jasper's ability, as I feel such kindness toward his character. The house change doesn't bother me, but people seem to get upset by that for some reason. I don't like the portrayal of Carlisle, and I'm sure Rosalie was off too, but I just don't like her, so don't care how she's portrayed - actually, the movie was probably kind on her lol. I think Emmett was a bad casting choice, he's a very endeering character in the books, and the movie just didn't seem to capture him well. I totally agree with Cai in that Edward was far more sure of himself than portrayed in the movie.
The soundtrack was unbelievably amazing though - kudos to whoever chose the score. Especially Bella's Lullaby - great work by Carter Burwell there, it is just mesmerising.
The deleted scenes *should* have been deleted. That biting the finger crapola - what was that??? As if Edward (or any vampire, but especially him) could 'taste' her blood. And what kind of a surefooted vampire would slip and fall on the ground? The only time Edward slips at all is in BD when Bella tackles him after their first hunting trip. We downloaded the deleted scenes and Catherine Hardwicke introduces that scene as being Kristin Stewart's favourite from the film....that sounds about right, she is the most miserable, whiney, obnoxious biatch of an actress I think I've ever heard of - it seems like she is just so bitter at being a paid actress in a hit series. She wouldn't present at the Oscars because she was only going to present at the oscars when she does something worthwhile, a good movie, not just one which makes a lot of money. Cranky cow. So it doesn't suprise me that this is her favourite scene - she just doens't *get* the concept of the series at all does she?
I've read the pdf of midnight sun (also countless times) and love it. I love the further insights into the Cullen's in particular - the OTT romantic melodrama doesn't actually touch me that much, although I like the scene when he 'changes' and falls in love with her. Love the scene in the car from Port Angeles from his perspective more than hers. Can't wait for the rest. On her site, Stephanie Meyer says that MS was the next of her projects once BD came out - she was kinda over the anger which made her shelve it at that point. I think she wanted about 2 years between the leak of the file and the official release, which would make it 2010 release.
Anyway, enough babble from me (although I probably will be back).
Ok let me in.. What are the "adult versions"?
Hi Girls!
I took your advice after stumbling into your thread initially, and now am a self confessed 'Twerd'
In less than 24 hours, I watched the movie 2.5 times, after which I ran out and bought all 4 books. I am just over halfway through Twilight, and am love love loving it!!! I was so disappointed when the train got to my stop this morning, i wanted to keep reading!
Normally I always read first, then watch the movie. But I must say, I am enjoying reading it now as I can picture all the characters and the settings etc.
After watching the movie for the second time yesterday, I had to jump on the net and find out what was going to happen next. I know, I am useless, but I just have to know what happens, otherwise I get all anxious when I am reading.
Looking forward to sharing many more Twilight moments with you all :D
teehee, we're all such suckers XD (no pun intended)
Well I just started and finished the second book on saturday and got half way through the third one on Sunday.
River I had to stop reading your post otherwise i was going to spoil it for myself hehe, but I agree, both edward and jacob are so adorable I even find myself in a battle in deciding which one Bella would be better suited for.
I haven't watched the movie yet, and I'm not sure if I'll bother or not. I always find movies never do the books any justice.
Got the best SMS over the weekend, made me laugh
"Buffy stakes Edward ..... The End"
I am in absolute love with all the books.... :heartbeat:
Haven't seen the movie yet.... but soon I hope....
I really dont get the Edward V's Jacob thing.. I didn't like Jacob AT ALL till Breaking Dawn, half way through....
I found Jacob SOOOO rude, condesending and just nasty to Bella... he doesn't care how she feels at all, and to me has no respect for her friends or feelings... I thought he was jerk, and I got annoyed with Bella for always forgiving him... He is so disrespectful and rarely appologises for his feral behaviour.. he doesn't seem in love to me, just domineering and controlling... but reprieves himself in Breaking Dawn!! ;)
But yummo Edward..... ooohhh, I'm in llluuurrrvvveee....
Well, I am so addicted now its not funny! Have finished Twilight, and am now halfway through New Moon. I even had a little teary on the train this morning
On the whole Jacob thing, I must say I kinda like him, he is such a sweetheart towards Bella (where I'm up to atm anyway!), but i would still prefer Edward anyday of the week...mmmm ;)
Have convinced DH to watch the movie with me, so thats all set for Friday night, I am so excited, I hope he likes it. The other night when we were going to sleep, he said "Goodnight my little Twerd". Was so cute, although he must think I have gone a tad crazy over these books and movie. I cant remember ever being like this over a movie or book, so its a little wierd for me. I've never really had a favourite actor (well not since Dieter Brummer in H&A..lol) and now without a doubt i would have to say Rob Pattinson!
x
Have you read all 4 books? Which one was your favourite?
yes i have read all four (and a half!) books - went to toowoomba on a holiday bought Twilight on the monday, had it finished by Tuesday morning and went and bought the other 3 and had them read by Thursday afternoon!! I have to say that i love twilight the most (although it is close with breaking dawn!) its the beginning of everything - where they find each other and more importantly - themselves!
Have you seen the movie? What did you think?
Yes i saw the movie - I did enjoy it - not quite as much as the books though. They left a lot out - like developing Bella's clumsiness - you kinda see it but i dont think you see it enough to understand where Edwards's protectiveness comes from. The blood typing scene would have been FANTASTIC to be in the movie. oh and the timeline kinda sucked - what happened to the girls choice dance??
oh and i wish that before i had seen the movie i had read midnight sun because after reading it (and watching the movie again) i could see where Rob Pttinson got his motivation adn ideas from - he does play the character more from Edwards point of view...
Are you an Edward or a Jacob fan? Why?
definitely Edward - can't explain why.......just am!! Do you blame me???
What is your favourite quote?
there are just too many to choose from - i can't pick just one.
I have read the series SO MANY times now that DH is getting tempted to hide them from me. But i did go to stephenie Myers website and d/load the PDF of midnight sun - and am almost done reading it again - I like o read it after i read twilight and before i start new moon. I sOOO wish she would hurry up and finish it!!
I also read on her site that she loved the Cassandra Clare books - now i have read all three of those too!!!
Hmmm True blood? another series?? who is the author please???
So I'm up to Eclipse now. I'm a bit over half way through. Lovin' it more and more.
I'm trying to not read it that fast so I don't have to wait for the next book. They're my sister's books. I totally should buy a set of my own, I think.
I couldn't agree more!!!!:
is there gonna be a fifth!?
Have you read all 4 books? Which one was your favourite?
Yes (in 9 days ) and can't decide between Twilight and Eclipse, although I do like Breaking Dawn too, what can I say, I'm a scucker for happy endings! I did like New Moon too, but I did race through it so Edward would be back..lol! All in all, love the books, and cant wait to read them again and again!
Have you seen the movie? What did you think?
Yes, and absolutely love it. Although there are some differences b/w the book and movie, the bulk of the movie reflects the book well, and I can appreciated that the differences were necessary to bring it to the big screen. I too agree that the soundtrack is amazing, I listen to it constantly, it really is mesmerising, and I love the songs by Rob Pattinson, his voice it incredible!
Are you an Edward or a Jacob fan? Why?
Definitely Edward because he loves Bella so much and his whloe life revolves around what makes her happy. I do like Jacob as a character, I just dont think he was right for Bella.
What is your favourite quote?
"You are my life now" Edward to Bella.............oh, swoon!
Yesterday I was googling all things Twilight, and I came across some forums and articles about Breaking Dawn. It seems that there was many unhappy fans who thought SM sold out, and that it was nowhere near as good as the others, and a crap ending, too much sex, not enough romance etc. I for one was very happy with it, and cant really understand the backlash. Given that there'd been no sex for the first 3 books, it was enivitable after they were married, and then they had Renesmee and were preparing for a battle, so was kinda hard to include a heap of romance. Anyone else have any thoughts on this???
Have you read all 4 books? Which one was your favourite?
Yep I read all 4 n 3 days. Very addictive. Breaking Dawn has to be my favourite, and least favourite is New Moon.
Have you seen the movie? What did you think?
Yes I saw the movie first. I loved the movie, until I read the books. I too understand that there are always going to be differences between the two as they cram the whole book into a movie. I just thought they could have made the movie a bit longer to fit in some more important story telling detail.
Are you an Edward or a Jacob fan? Why?
If you're asking which one I think is "the one" for Bellah - Definitely Edward. As characters though I loved them both equally. I don't think Jacob really appealed to me until New Moon though, took me a bit to warm to him.
What is your favourite quote?
Bella, I couldn?t live with myself if I ever hurt you. You don?t know how it?s tortured me. The thought of you, still, white, cold? to never see you blush scarlet again, to never see that flash of intuition in your eyes when you see through my pretenses? it would be unendurable. You are the most important thing to me now. The most important thing to me ever.
Edward Cullen, Twilight, Chapter 13, p.274
Isn?t it supposed to be like this? The glory of first love, and all that. It?s incredible, isn?t it, the difference between reading about something, seeing it in the pictures, and experiencing it?
Edward Cullen, Twilight, Chapter 14, p.302
Before you, Bella, my life was like a moonless night. Very dark, but there were stars?points of light and reason? And then you shot across my sky like a meteor. Suddenly everything was on fire; there was brilliancy, there was beauty. When you were gone, when the meteor had fallen over the horizon, everything went black. Nothing had changed, but my eyes were blinded by the light. I couldn?t see the stars anymore. And there was no more reason for anything.
Edward Cullen, New Moon, Chapter 23, p.514
I agree with the PP about Breaking Dawn. I thought it was a fantastic ending. There was a lot of sex, but it was used to show Edward and Bellahs incredible attraction to each other. Not over the top at all in my opinion.
Have you read all 4 books? Which one was your favourite?
i havnt read any, but after watching the movie last night...I AM GOING TO BUY THEM ALL TOMORROW!
Have you seen the movie? What did you think?
YES!!! loved it!!!! going to watch it again now! love the baseball scene!!!!
Are you an Edward or a Jacob fan? Why?
edward...mmmm *drools*
What is your favourite quote?
i will get back to you on that one, im going to watch it again!
Welcome to our group Rainbow Raver!
I'm sure you will love the books as much as you did the movie. Like you I saw the movie first, and am hooked on both. Admittedly, i watched the movie 3 times in 24 hours last weekend  My DH just thinks I am a complete tragic at the moment, and honestly, i dont blame him
Hope you enjoy the books, and cant wait to hear what you think of em :p
