Lets do Wuthering Heights...isn't it all about mad romance and passion??? Could do with a bit of a passion pick me up at the moment!
Oh it's depressing more than romantic...
Wuthering Heights reads more like a Gothic novel than a romance... but I'd love to follow your thread :)
ETA: gothic = dark, brooding, macabre.
Yeah, Kate Bush put a lovely spin on it!
Wurthering is fine by me...I will try to track down a copy so who is joining this great adventure?? Me tinks, CQ (bath and lulu are going to read our thread!!)
After a few beers, I can do my Kate Bush impersonation :p
Actually Fiona with my beer googles on you look EXACTLY like Kate Bush! ;) :D
I hope you girls don't mind (the ones going to read Wuthering Heights) but to stop this thread going off topic any more I started a WH thread in the Reading & Books section of the forum. I went and found the lyrics to Kate Bush's Wuthering Heights... thought it would be better put in there than here. i also found a little snippet in Wiki about Emily Bronte's book. I don't want to take over the whole thing... just love the book and want to offer encouragement for you all to read it! :)
i started les mis after i saw the musical when it came to melb in...1990 or 1991 (too long ago to remember now!). i still have my copy but haven't got any further than about 200 pages. it's actually in my car. it's been through 6 moves (not including a move overseas) & almost 20 years....and still i never seem to get round to reading it :shakehead:
i love wuthering heights. haven't read it in about 20 years either - not since school! i wonder if i can track down a copy.
I've always wanted to read Wuthering Heights.. I'll have a track down a copy but i might join ou girls in the read-a-thon if that's ok? **Wanders off to track down Wuth Heights thread**
The thing I found hard about Les Mis is the first, what - third??? Is all back story. I knew it would be hard to read but I thought knowing the story would make it easier so the beginning was really, really hard!
It is great though :)
Hmmm.... I think I should read Les Miserables... bit of a Francophile (lover of French culture) here... would be a good book to read over summer.
So whats the plan ladies? Are we still reading Wuthering Heights...i'm nearly finished my book so....
Bath - did you get Les Mis yet?
