Thanks BG. I'll have to jot that down.
I made more French Cream Icing this morning (instead of getting us all ready for the day:redface:), as I had a batch of Red Velvet cupcakes already made the other day. And, I got to share it with the Man, our young mechanic, and my good friend who I haven't seen since before Christmas! She loves the icing and is going to stalk me for the recipe so she can make it for another friend of hers, engagement cake.
Mmmmm, French Cream Icing.... <drool>
What a good bake and share day!
Sorry I've been MIA - we've had a huge couple of days! My choccy cupcakes were a mixed bag. I thought they were good, MIL LOVED them and has asked for the recipe, but DH's workmates thought they were "heavy" and "a bit dry" In other words, guess who won't be getting anything to share on our next Bake and Share day?!
I hope everyone else enjoyed theirs. What are we going to do next time? And when? We ARE going to do another one, aren't we ladies? ;)
Oh yeah! We should! I absolutely loved the bake & share day! :D
My cake turned out quite well... I'll upload some pics once I get them off SIL camera.
How about cookies next week some time?
Cookies next week sound great - should I start a new thread so we can get some more people involved??
Sounds great ;)
Yeah! Maybe called it "Bake n Share #2" or something like that!
Or bake and share 2 - it's cookie time!
I'm in !!!!
Check out our new thread - bake and share #2! I think this is the link...

sorry to bump this thread, but i was wondering Netix, if you use the French Cream Icing for Red Velvet cake only or have you used it for other cakes/cupcakes?
Hey Nic, I have used a chocolate version of the French Cream for a more chocolatey velvet cake. I didn't put any red colouring in the cake, just more cocoa, and then cocoa in the icing as well.
It seems to work well on pretty much anything. I would have put it on some strawberries the other day if I had any left! But, do use it at room temperature, much easier to spread.
