He could do them properly when he was in year 1 so 6yrs. He tries to skip doing them these days and just slip them on but the mean mummy I am makes him redo the laces and tighten them. :p

DD is of school age, ie, *could* go to school (but doesn't go yet, she's going next year) and can do her laces, she learnt just after she was 4. I was lucky though, she learnt really quickly, DH and I showed her maybe 5 times or so when we brought he laced shoes and she got it.
Charlie started this year, almost age 6 but his dad kept at him, which is probably why. Before that, lazy and enabler mummy just bought him shoes with zelcro on it.
