yep this was my 1st thought too sorry to say...:
I have heard of the chicken thing too, but 7 seems very young to me, even if you eat heaps of chicken...
than again if all you family got AF quite young ( 11 is young too me I was a late bloomer 16 ;) )then maybe the next genaration is going to start even younger...
the best thing you can do is breath and make her a doctor appointment asap, too see whats going on...

The other thing to remember really bad UTI's can cause bleeding too... so even if you think it could be her period I would get it checked out to be 100% sure there are no other health issues or anything else.
Just for the record, I'm confident there are no abuse issues going on. There are no males around at all..no females for that matter. She hasn't stayed at any friends houses lately either. No one is ever alone with her, or here late at night.
Not sure if anyone else thought it but it crossed my mind.
I agree, is she sporty at all? I was super sporty when I was younger, and I had what your are describing, a small amount of brownish blood when i was 7 or eight. Although I got AF at nine, so maybe it was a sort of lead up to AF?:
:comfort: I really hope she isn't hun, but I think the best thing to do is talk to her about it and ask her. If it is AF, that will be hard for the both of you, but she's lucky because she has such a great mum to help her through it.

2 of my aunts got their period at 8. One of my aunts was overweight for her age, the other wasn't at all. We have a history in my family of getting periods rather early, but 12 seems to be the average age for us.
I would definitely have a talk to your DD and definitely take her to the Dr. Does your DD know what a period is? If so, would she have come to you and told you? I had to educate my older DD early on as there was a chance she could have got AF early.

Without any other signs of hormonal changes in her body I would very much doubt it would be AF. I would go down the UTI track with her first, so as not to get her worried and take her to the drs for a full health check.

I don't have any advice to give, but 7 does seem quite young for it to be af, especially if there haven't been any other hormonal changes that you've noticed.

I haven't had that talk with her yet. Was thinking about it as I got AF a few days ago. Thinking something I'll have to do one day.
She's pretty sporty, but their sports atm are Mondays & Tuesdays & they do surfing & beach activities. The last few days she's been inside coz of the rain. Nothing full on since it started on Wednesday. Kinda odd that I'd notice it when she's not been very active.
Wouldn't she have pain with a UTI? A fever maybe? I'll start by asking if she's had any sort of pain & go from there.
I would still take her to the Dr, it really can't hurt and it's also showing her how important it is when body changes happen and that she should tell her mummy rather than her mummy finding it KWIM?
I'll be taking her to the gp. I'm actually gonna leave a message to talk to him as soon as I've talked to her.
I think she knows something is up. I did notice her take them off to get in the shower last night & look at me & stand on them as if she was hiding something. I'm wondering, though, if she did think it was just from not wiping properly. She does know if I saw dirty undies I'll usually give her a lecture on using toilet paper...coz she rarely uses it.
Just wondering, if it is af...I'm not sure either way atm...will other hormones kick in that much earlier too? Besides the body changes? Sexual wise? Is she going to be more curious earlier than other kids her age? I really really hope not!
Maybe... it sounds like you're doing the right thing by taking her to the dr.
FWIW... I broke my hymen doing gymnastics falling on a bar at age 9, and I bled a tiny bit. I hope its something simple like that :hug: :hug:

My bf was 18 and overweight when she got her first period my dd 11. Its possible but i would defenetly wait and ask her she could have fallen on the monkey bars ya never know. or soemthing.:

being a overly protective mother i did have a brief thought of that then relised my dd is so ruff when playing sports that i felt that was most likey.
I was an incredibly UNDERweight child, and I got my first AF at about 9. It was really light, and then didn't come back for about a year.
Also - I slipped while standing on a plastic swing when I was about 7 or 8, the corner got me right in the Bits - OUUUUUCHHH!!!!!! - and I ran inside to the shower and there was some blood! But I was fine. So it could be lots of things!
I'm not sure...it wasn't just a little bit. It was probably 5 cm round? If that makes sense? I know its possible, but it seems too much for a broken hymen... But I have no idea.
I also noticed a pair of her undies on the shower floor this morning...dunno if that means anything, since they are black & you wouldn't have seen anything anyway. Or if its just her being feral.
I'll be checking when she gets home anyway, so I'll know if its still there or not.
Don't worry, abuse was the first thing that went through my head! Then I thought about it & know its not possible right now.

This was my first thought too. Although I am relieved to hear that you think there is not much chance of something untoward going on I think it's still a good chance to have that talk with her and let her know she can tell you ANYTHING and you will believe her. I would still get her checked out at the GP just in case.
Another thing could be (without getting too graphic) could she be playing around down there herself? I know she's still very young but you never know.

Okay any bleeding per vagina in a child so young is abnormal. She needs to be seen as a matter of priority by a caring doctor. Yes, a uti can cause bleeding but it is usually red blood. It sounds like that's not the case. If it were me I would be collecting her from school - take her for a milkshake & investigate caringly and gently.
Yes, this is a red flag to abuse - & that's not something any Mama wants to hear. :hug: Children are not always abused by adults - children too. She could have injured herself another way... She could be beginning menses. If she is she still needs to be seen by a doctor. This is premature menstruation if she is menstruating and a paediatrician will need to be involved.
I am sorry if I sound direct. Some things need direct. Any pv bleeding in a young child is not to be overlooked. I know you are not overlooking it - just reassuring you that acting quickly is the right thing to do in this situation. Big cuddles darling this is a big one for you to deal with. :hug:
