I must be going straight to hell in a handbasket :D. I had bacon and ham and cold prawns LOL.
So, DP surprised me. The prawns were an entree. Main was salmon fillet poached in white wine, lemon and herbs, served with bernaise sauce (and salad).
I'm a lucky girl :)

i know for me, growing up we ate fish every Friday for the 40 days of Lent.

This is all confusing, fish IS meat! I don't get when people say they don't eat meat... but then go on to say the fish they ate?
I grew up eating fish on Good Friday just for cultural tradition sake- my family wasn't religious. My mum told me it was because Jesus died on Good Friday so you weren't supposed to eat "the blood of christ" on that day... so everyone eats fish as they don't have red blood. I figured a vegetarian meal would be just as appropriate but people are so obsessed with meat that they eat fish.
We are catholic and will go to church.... I do not do fish on Friday. But we all pick something we like for lent :)
Meow- you're not supposed to eat red meat. It is supposed to be a type of fasting. Traditionally you're supposed to abstain from red meat every Wednesday and Friday of lent. So yeah, then having an elaborate seafood meal that you enjoy instead is kind of missing the point. But most people aren't thinking of the religious reasons any more.

Kinda like my friend who cooked a massive Passover feast last night, compete with the plate that goes in the middle with a burnt egg, lamb shank, some other stuff, which all signify important events. And they will spend two hours going through each item and telling each item's story... But she doesn't believe in God.
She calls herself a "cultural Jew". Still can't get my head around that.
