    Default The awesome moment when...

DD1 is opening her birthday present from her Dad & all you wanna do is cry because you know its really something that MIL bought & sent over, because you said you would do it to save DD knowing that her dad really CBF.

I will do it for DD2 as well, but I have to decide if I will keep doing it when he doesn't come through or not? I only did it this time because he actually DID send something over for DS. (Was living with ILs at the time & they sent something, so he followed the trend, has now been kicked out of their house, so noone to make sure he does it)

What a crap situation to be in. Good on you for looking out for her when her Dad is such a douche. And he thinks this will get you back?

You don't need to decide straight away. See how things go. It's unlikely he'll ever come through for them and they'll have to learn that eventually, but what a cruel way to realise that about their father. He needs a good kicking, IMO.

I haven't heard from him in a month, but he did tell me that he'd have nothing to do with the kids & it'd be all my fault

I don't know what he thinks he means to them, because they haven't noticed yet

not my problem. They can see whats going on. They will work it out for themselves no matter what I do.

Huge hugs , that completely sucks . You are so awesome holding it all together for your DD while she opens her present.

FWIW - my parents divorced when I was 3 1/2 (for very similar reasons to you) and my dad never sent us birthday presents or cards either (I have two older siblings). My Mum never made an issue about it (i.e "Your Father's a terrible man who forgets your birthdays"), she just gave us comforting words if we ever brought it up. We were all OK, we never cried about it. We kind of expected it anyway, he wasn't there for us any other time, so we didn't expect anything on our birthdays. My Mum made a big deal for each of us on our birthdays so we never missed out. I get teary thinking about how hard she worked to scrape together enough of her little funds (our Dad never paid child support either) to save up for a really awesome present for each of us. I still thank her to this day .

Your kids will really appreciate and respect you for all you do for them as they get older, I promise. You are awesome .

They will see, I can promise you that . I have so much love and respect for my Mum, I can't even describe it .

Your poor DS . It is so hard to see your child hurt by someone they love.
