76 stars - alcohol is present in most things as it is a preservative, so it really needs to be in there. It should only be a small part of the composition of the product. So do use it anyway.

I use a sensitive cleanser, I don't actually tone at all!!! and then moisturise. Day and night - My Nan told me I should to it when I was younger and 15 years later, I'm still doing it..
-
WOW - I am surprised how many of you don't have a beauty regime...
I'm a twice a day gal, cleanse - no toner because my cleanser is PH neutral and also contains Alpha Hydroxy Acid, Antioxidant spray (morning routine and during the day - keeps me hydrated without getting shiny or oily) replaced with correction (AHA's) cream at night, moisturiser and finish it off with eye cream. My make-up contains SPF+ and if it's a no make up day and I’m heading out of the house, I use a sensitive SPF non water resistant... as water resistant clogs the pores.
Treatments - I do a chamomile (very soothing and cooling) mud mask twice a week and since my beauty regime contains AHA's I only do a dry scrub once a month along when I do a dry body one. ;)
Dee - if your struggling to find time just to put aside to pop on a mask... do it before you jump in the shower... 15 mins before you jump in and if it's a mud one the steam from the shower will help draw impurities out with the mask. I get up some days when i'm due for a mask, pop on the goo, have brekky and then jump in the shower.

I use Johnson's and Johnson's Foaming Face Wash (clear bottle with purple lid) which I loooove! I have always had problem skin and this one seems to be the best. At night I use Savlon as a moisturiser (because of my skins tendancy to break out) and during the day I use Oil of Olay under my make-up. I must admit though that since I've been pregnant, my skin has neer been better!

I have cleansed and moisturised since I was 12 - thanks MUM! :D I don't go anywhere without sunscreen in the daytime (cos my fair skin can't cope). I've started Darcy ealry like Tracy hoping she'll keep it up. She loves to do what mummy does at the moment.

I am a skincare nut or for people in the cosmetic game a "sophisticated skincare user". Why? I was a National Training Mgr in a previous life before moving to Brisbane 15 mths ago and I believe in the benefits of daily care. My advice is to cleanse and moisturise am and pm (toners are great but if you are time poor that would be the one to drop) and exfoliate hopefully once per week. No matter what time I get in I HAVE to clean my face. I know those of you who already have children may laugh at this, but I know I will absolutely still find the 5-10 mins a day I need for my skin.
In regards as to what to use, buy what is within your budget - just make sure that it is gentle on the skin and seek advice!!
Have fun and happy caring for your skin, Nicole

I just wanted to add, that it's not so much that toner does nothing - it's designed to neutralise the PH of the skin after using some of those nasty cleansers and also remove any excess cleanser from the skin. Therefore you don't feel as tight and dry, you don't over stimulate the glands and you don't use as much moisturiser which in the end saves your coin. Cleansers that are PH neutral don't need a toner, unless you are using a cream cleanser and don't particullarly like the residue left on the skin. Cetaphil is PH neutral.
Many women that complain about their make-up not lasting throughout the day will actually benefit from a toner. ;)
ETA - Nicolee, i absolutely agree, and the mummies may laugh, but this something that is a must for me personally and i will find the time. If you have the time to brush your teeth and shower, i don't see why you can't slather on the cream before and after the shower.

I have to agree with you on the toner Catherine, esp with a creamy cleanser. I have a couple of different cleansers for different reasons. A cream cleanser and toner if I have been wearing full makeup. If no or little makeup I use a face wash or foam cleanser, and I have the lovliest Camomile eye make up remover which I find perfect to gently remove the lashings of mascara (LOVE MASCARA, so easy, yet such great results!lol), then moisturise.
Its funny how older women really want the chemicals, whilst the younger ones are really aware of "chemicals". Ingredients are listed by their scientific name, so when you look at the list full of looong words you can feel a bit bamboozled. However, Vit E is tocopheroyl (sp?).
I would always talk about the Body Shops core values (ieRaising Self Esteem) and how we shouldn't buy into the anti-aging scaremongering, being happy in your own skin and all that jazz - well the younger customers (ykwim) would nod and smile and agree, whilst the older ones would be - yeah, we love the whole tree-hugging hippy stuff - just give me whatever to get rid of these wrinkles!!! I get the impression some ladies would smear ant-poo (with added chemicals) on their faces for the right result.
One thing I do know - I can tell a women who has taken care of herself by the condition of their skin and it is well worth it to wash, moisturise and sunscreen each day.
I think I am a new species of nerd.....

I have really dry skin and have moisturised for as long as I can remember. For the last two months I have started using a Garnier cleanser in the shower and I moisturise as soon as I get out while my skin is still soft. It has made the world of difference to my skin. If I do it every day my skin stays nice and soft, but miss a day and it gets all flaky and red. It has made a huge difference.

Just thought I might give you all my thoughts, I am in the beauty industry and so many women are lost when it comes to skincare and its hard to educate people when you are working in a salon as they think you are trying to sell them products (which most therapists do anyway)
You should use a foaming cleanser only if you have oily skin and you should use a cream cleanser if you have dry skin. Wrinkles are caused from lack of oil/moisture in the skin so that is why people with oily skin age less than people with dry skin (boo hoo thats me). and you should never use soap it is the worst thing to use as it strips all the oil out of the skin.
I believe toner is a waste of time 99% of the time it is just an extra expense. Unless you have acne or get breakouts some toners are antibacterial.
Moisturiser is a must for dry skin. And the most important thing of all is SUNSCREEN.. 80-90% of ageing is from the sun, you can get pigmenataion from computers and indoor lights (damn!) so even on a cloudy day you must wear sunscreen.
Hope i havn't dribbled on too much, thanks for listening hope i helped.

In regards to the cream and foaming cleansers. There are products available to both skin types, it comes down to personal preference to begin with and then finding a great match for your skin type and needs from there. Many women prefer a foaming cleanser because of convenience, it's easier for them to cleanse in the shower and some women prefer that 'clean' feeling. A cream cleanser however is more preferred by women who don't like that 'tight' or some women might refer to it as 'clean' feeling and perhaps they like to cleanse their make-up off with tissue. I have clients that aren't necessarily dry and love a cream cleanser and visa versa; it starts with preference and then finding what's right for you. If a woman doesn't like the method of skin care, she isn't going to use it and won't see any results regardless.
I've already said what I have had to say about toner, but will just add that i don't believe people that suffer with breakouts should be using astringents or product with alcohol anyhow - most of the time that's where they are going wrong and are over stimulating the oil glands and wonder why their skin isn't any better. ;)

Has anyone ever used SK-II? (Cate Blanchett's endorsed skin care product)
DH has asked me what I would like for a "birth present"...and I thought this sounded good...but don't know if the product is just hype...
Cate's skin is totally gorgeous...no doubt due to genetics...but wondering if the product helps...

I've been cleansing, toning and moisturising twice a day since I was about 15. Tried every brand under the sun!
As I've gotten older and moved to different places I've had to change my products around which has been a nuisance (and expensive, having to find stuff that works for my "new" skin). When I moved to London from Sydney I had to change everything, then from Sydney to Melbourne I had to change everything again. Colder climates really affect my skin.
Then I got pregnant and everything changed again, I had sensitive skin for the first time in my life. I used Seba Med Visio (from the pharmacy) which worked brilliantly, I got so many compliments, then DS was born and I'm still trying to find something that works now. Right now I'm on Beauty and the Bees - the products are delish but I'm not real happy with the way my skin looks - kind of dull. Or could that just be lack of sleep?
And now we're moving back to Sydney in October so I'll just use up all my Beauty and the Bees and get on the merry-go-round again...sigh.

Hi Everyone,
I have just come back from a trip to America and have brought back with me the most amazing skin care products that are based on herbs and botanicals, but are combined with science to give the most unbelievable results ever. They are ph correct, contain no mineral oil and are cetified vegan. I would recommend them to anyone. Very reasonably priced also (important).
Jane xx

I do not cleanse, tone and moisturise. Never have yet I look far younger than everyone I know who is around the same age as me. I think all the chemicals in these products actually age your skin so I just don't use them.

Have to agree with you there Satya.
