You know, I was wondering the other day if anyone under 50 got perms anymore. I used to get them all the time many years ago. I had perm after perm after perm & it never wrecked my hair. I used to hate straight hair & loved my perms for the first few months anyway. I don't get them done now though as I'm happy with my straight hair these days.
I used to hate it when my hair got to the stage where it was part curly & part dead straight & I could never wait to let it grow out so off to the hairdressers it was again. Unless you are prepared to have regular perms to keep it looking even I wouldn't bother getting one done.

I didn't get one. I am worried about the damage to my hair as I colour my hair a lot. I have blonde foils and also some maganta, which bleaches and colours at the same time. I have the magenta done every 3-4 weeks because it fades so quickly so I don't think my hair could handle all that and a perm.

Annoying as it is to not be able to have the hair we really want, you probably made the right choice. It is very hard on your hair (and finances) to colour and perm and then pay for your cut/style as well!

Yeah, I ended up getting a great new cut so I'm happy.

Funny this should come up now. I was considering having my hair permed yesterday cos I have straight yucky hair and have to wear it back at work, it never looks nice tied back and always falls out. I thought a perm would make it look better tied back.
Hmm might do some investigating.

I have straight yucky hair too, which is why I started butting it short. Now my hair is great and just keeps getting shorter!
Have you ever had short hair, Tinkerbell?

Yes but prefer it longer around my face.
